As Joe (Reece Dinsdale) makes plans to clear out the lock-up both he and Gail (Helen Worth) are surprised when David (Jack P Shepherd) offers to help in case Joe’s back gives him grief. Although Joe accepts the offer of help he insists his back is better and he is off the painkillers. Knowing this to be untrue David surreptitiously puts the tablets into his pocket before throwing the bottle onto the bonfire as they clear out the rubbish. A stressed Joe later snaps at Gail before seeking out Graeme (Craig Gazey) to ask if he can get him some more pills but Graeme refuses. David acts sympathetic and suggests Joe needs to stay on his medication for longer. Joe concedes but can’t get any from the doctor. David offers to try to obtain some from a contact he met in prison as long as Gail is not told. Joe warily agrees.
Becky (Katherine Kelly) gets a call and meets up with a scruffy and dirty Slug (Marshall Lancaster) and buys him breakfast at the café. He tells her to watch her back and be careful. Becky’s baffled. Lloyd (Graig Charles) informs Steve (Simon Gregson) about Becky’s meeting with Slug, angry Steve turns down a vacancy at the registry office as it would be too short notice to arrange a wedding. He tackles Becky about Slug and she admits buying him breakfast but she forces Steve to call back and book the vacant slot for their nuptials.
Audrey (Sue Nicholls) brings Helen to the salon, still trying to calm her fears about Tony (Gray O'Brien) but Natasha (Rachel Leskovac) is only too delighted to hear the gossip and offers to share her own bad experiences of him. Audrey visits Maria (Samia Smith) and questions her about Tony’s motives for caring for her. Maria’s defensive and asks if there has to be a reason.
It’s Chesney’s (Sam Aston) birthday and he’s slept in and missed his paper round. Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) gives him some trainers as a present but he’s unimpressed that they’re the wrong size. Feeling guilty Fiz asks Sian (Sacha Parkinson) and Sophie (Brooke Vincent) to cheer up Chesney. The call round and invite him to go bowling which has the desired effect but he is still angry about Fiz’s obsession with John (Graeme Hawley).

Jason (Ryan Thomas) enthusiastically tells Eileen (Sue Cleaver) and Tina (Michelle Keegan) how Leon (Andrew Langtree) wants him to join his football team. Eileen and Tina think it’s hilarious as Jason hasn’t realised it’s a gay team but he’s oblivious to their amusement as he’s more interested in working out how he and Tina re going to afford to do up number 12. Realising they can’t afford it Tina hits upon the idea of asking her dad to fit the kitchen for free.
Meanwhile, Joe (Reece Dinsdale) agrees to her request but he is more preoccupied with finding out if David(Jack P Shepherd) has got the pills – David tells him that he has and they will cost him 50 quid but when Joe comes to collect them David decides the price has increased – will David’s latest mind games push Joe over the edge?
Tony (Gray O'Brien) decides to tackle the problem of Helen (Dearbhla Molloy) and Barry (Frank Grimes) head on after seeing how upset it is making Maria (Samia Smith). He takes them round to the house and apologises to Helen and Barry and suggests they try to be friends for the sake of baby Liam (Logan Pearson). Helen begrudgingly agrees.
Chesney’s (Sam Aston) fed up as it’s his birthday and he hasn’t got any money to do anything. Not even able to afford to take Sian (Sacha Parkinson) and Sophie (Brooke Vincent) up on their offer of a trip to the bowling he asks Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) if he can have money instead of the trainers.
Elsewhere Steve (Simon Gregson) and Becky (Katherine Kelly) proudly tell Lloyd (Craig Charles) they’ve set a wedding date for two weeks’ time and wonder if the wedding can persuade Liz to return from Spain.

Joe’s (Reece Dinsdale) suffering from withdrawal but he tries to mask his desperation in front of Gail (Helen Worth).
Desperate to get the money he sells his jigsaw to Bill (Peter Armitage) for £50, but Bill only has 20 on him. Joe gives the money to David (Jack P Shepherd) and promises to get him the rest by the end of the day. But with no way of getting his hands on the cash Joe steals £50 out of Gail’s purse. When Gail returns and finds the cash missing from her purse she accuses David of stealing the money. David’s furious and forces Joe to come clean. Joe makes out he’s just borrowed the cash for materials. David delivers half the painkillers to Joe telling him he can have the other half when he persuades Tina (Michelle Keegan) to start being nice to him again. Will Joe give in to blackmail?
As she writes the guest list for the wedding Becky (Katherine Kelly) finds it lacking and decides to get in touch with Jim McDonald and invite him to the nuptuals as a surprise for Steve (Simon Gregson). On a roll she also enters a competition to win a dream honeymoon.
Freda (Ali Briggs) leaves and Emily (Eileen Derbyshire) and Norris (Malcolm Hebden) wave her off. Emily shows Ramsay(Andrew Sachs) some holiday slides of her and Ernest in the Lake District. Norris blunders in and interrupts them.
Rita (Barbara Knox) suggests to Norris that Emily and Ramsay might have feelings for each other. Norris is appalled.
Chesney (Sam Aston) hunts for the receipt for his trainers so he can take them back. He’s shocked when he finds an engagement ring in Fiz’s (Jennie McAlpine) coat pocket. Telling Fiz he couldn’t find the receipt Fiz panics when she discovers her engagement ring is missing from her pocket.
Elsewhere Bill (Peter Armitage) agrees to give Jason (Ryan Thomas) a mortgage reference saying he’s in full-time employment.

Chesney (Sam Aston) watches Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) as she searches frantically for the ring but she covers saying she is looking for a tax letter for her scooter. With no one to turn to Fiz confides in Julie (Katy Cavanagh) how she’s engaged to John (Graeme Hawley) and she’s lost the ring. Julie’s sympathetic and helps her search but with no luck. Meanwhile Chesney is still furious that she is lying to him and when he spots Rosie (Helen Flanagan) abandon washing her sports car to answer the phone, leaving the keys in the ignition he leaps in the car and drives off!
Jason’s (Ryan Thomas) delighted when he receives a letter telling him his loan for the flat deposit has been accepted. Jason and Tina (Michelle Keegan) show Eileen (Sue Cleaver) and Joe (Reece Dinsdale) round No.12 and everyone is a little overwhelmed by the amount of work that needs doing. Worried that they are getting into too much debt Eileen offers to lend them some money she inherited from Colin to help them out.
Hearing that Tony (Gray O'Brien) is going to be tied up with business for a few weeks Maria (Samia Smith) arranges to go and stay with Helen (Dearbhla Molloy) and Barry (Frank Grimes) in Ireland. Tony’s secretly disappointed that she’s going but covers his true feelings.
Becky (Katherine Kelly) asks Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) to be Matron of Honour and Roy (David Neilson) to give her away at her wedding. They’re delighted and Roy gives her £200 towards the expense. Anna (Debbie Rush) tells Becky (Katherine Kelly) that Eddie (Steve Huison) will bake her wedding cake for her.
David (Jack P Shepherd) overhears Tina (Michelle Keegan) and Jason (Ryan Thomas) excitedly discussing their new flat and the fact that Joe (Reece Dinsdale) is going to git the kitchen for free. David’s furious and corners Joe telling him to split them up or he won’t get his pills.

Chesney (Sam Aston) has somehow managed to make it down a few streets but the car is out of control and he almost hits Anna (Debbie Rush) and slams on before bursting into tears. Anna helps Chesney wipe his fingerprints off Rosie’s (Helen Flanagan) steering wheel and then takes him back to No.6 but not before explaining to him that the choices he makes now will affect him for the rest of his life. Chesney realises that he has left the engagement ring in the car but it’s too late as Kevin (Michael Le Vell) has found the car and returned it to her assuming it was taken by joy-riders. Will the truth come out if Rosie finds the ring?
Tina (Michelle Keegan) is furious when Joe (Reece Dinsdale) retracts his offer to put in a free kitchen for her and Jason (Ryan Thomas). Joe lies to Tina and warns her off Jason saying he’s still got the hots for Becky (Katherine Kelly) and she shouldn’t trust him. Worried by her Dad’s words, Tina quizzes Jason about his feelings for Becky. Jason assures her Becky’s history and Tina and Jason call round to see Joe. David (Jack P Shepherd) listens from the stairs as Jason assures Joe that Becky’s history and he and Tina are very much in love. David’s gutted.
David (Jack P Shepherd) taunts Joe (Reece Dinsdale) with the pills and Joe finally flips slamming David against the wall. David threatens to tell Gail (Helen Worth) about Joe’s drug problem – how will Joe react?
Elsewhere Steve (Simon Gregson) spots Becky (Katherine Kelly) giving Slug (Marshall Lancaster) £20. Becky explains she just feels sorry for him and Tony (Gray O'Brien) tries to talk Maria (Samia Smith) out of her trip to Ireland but her mind is made up.
