Harry Potter star joins 'EastEnders'

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire star Tiana Benjamin has joined the cast of EastEnders in a full time role.

Tiana, who plays Gryffindor Quidditch captain Angelina Johnson in the film, is to appear as Chelsea Fox - the on-screen daughter of actress Diane Parish's previously unnamed character, Denise Fox.

Denise soon becomes romantically involved with Kevin Wicks (Phil Daniels) who turns up out of the blue, much to the surprise of Pat Evans (Pam St Clement) and, of course, Deano Wicks (Matt Di Angelo), who has been telling the Square that his father is dead. Hot on Kevin's tail is his daughter, Carly Wicks (Kellie Shirley). Chelsea will be central to all their storylines.

Of her role, Tiana said: "I’ve been a big fan of EastEnders since I was little and I’m very excited to join the show. I’ve always really admired Diane and I can’t wait to work with her, it really hasn’t sunk in yet!"

Both Tiana Benjamin and Diane Parish will appear on our screens in May, while Phil Daniels and Kellie Shirley will be seen next month.

It seems Albert Square will soon be bulging with new characters, but some of them look oddly familiar.

Hogwarts fans will recognise 21-year-old EastEnders newcomer Tiana Benjamin.

Tiana will be Chelsea Fox, daughter of Denise Fox - played by Diane Parish, who appeared in the soap eight years ago as Lola Christie... confused? So are we.

Pat's ex-brother-in-law Kevin Wicks, legendary actor Phil Daniels, turns up and gives her the shock of her life - she thought he was dead.

Mods across the land will remember Phil from cult movie Quadrophenia, being the voice on Blur's "Parklife" single & his brief appearance as Freddy "The Rush" Windrush from comedy series Gimme Gimme Gimme a few years back.

Hot on his heels is daughter Carly (Kellie Shirley), who you may have spotted in The Office. She also reminds me of the Susan Gately character from Channel 4's "Teachers", played by Raquel Cassidy. She's also been in Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde, Smallpox 2002: Silent Weapon, The Bill & starred alongside Kristen Dunst & Paul Bettany in 2004's Wimbledon film. She's also got two other films on the go at the moment. She plays Jools in "The Prey" (which is currently in post-production & a bit-part as "Pram Girl" in a movie called "Venus" which is being filmed as we speak.

Wiping that smile (you had to look closely) off Pauline Fowler's face is Joe Macer's daughter, who pops up the day before their wedding to wreak havoc.

But is actress Niky Wardling, who plays stroppy Megan 'bovvered'? Not likely. You'll recognise her as schoolgirl Lauren's bolshy sidekick in The Catherine Tate Show.

The Mitchell clan is also expanding, with Grant and Tiff's daughter Courtney, played by Megan Jossa, heading for Walford with her dad, while Phil's son Ben (Charlie Jones) is not far behind.

New characters, such as Jim Branning's son Max (Jake Wood), Joe Macer's mate Dave Hill (Bert Atkinson), and Honey's dad Jack Edwards (Nicky Henson).

It's all about the money with Chelsea, it has always been her character from the moment she arrived. I have got the feeling that the Producers don't know what to do with any other characters that are not Mitchells, Brannings, Beales and Slaters.

Why not just get rid of her they have written out other characters who have been less boring so what is the point if having her in the show.
