Jack Tweed said he feared the "fairytale could be over" when he was called urgently to Jade Goody's bedside.
The 21-year-old rushed to his wife's aid on Friday night after receiving an emergency call from the 27-year-old's nurse.
Tweed told the News Of The World that he panicked and was "absolutely terrified".
"The thought that our fairytale could be over already filled me with dread and sadness," he said.
Goody, who was told by doctors that her cancer was terminal in February, was discharged from hospital on Wednesday. A friend of Goody's said the family were told that she has just days left to live.
