    The Bill, 18 and 19 March 2009

    Wedesday, 18 March 09

Donning her police uniform for the very last time, PC Beth Green (Louisa Lytton) gets ready in the locker room with PCs Mel Ryder (Rhea Bailey) and Millie Brown (Clare Foster), who joke that she should try and kiss PC Nate Roberts (Ben Richards) at her leaving party later that night.

Beth’s thoughts are interrupted when she and Nate are called to a domestic disturbance and find Eve Davies (Cathy Owen) lying unconscious at the bottom of her stairs. The officers are surprised to see that Eve’s husband is Charlie (Julian Lewis Jones), the owner of the boxing club they questioned the previous day. Charlie tells Nate and Beth that he told Eve their marriage was over and she accidentally fell down the stairs, but the officers are suspicious. Later at the hospital, Charlie is stunned to learn that his daughter, Annie (Georgia Henshaw), has broken into his shop and stolen the takings, while Eve regains consciousness and tells Beth that Charlie pushed her down the stairs.

At the crime scene, CSE Eddie Olosunje (Jason Barnett) and DI Samantha Nixon (Lisa Maxwell) re-enact what may have happened between Charlie and Eve on the stairs, but are left puzzled. As the investigation progresses, Beth and Nate discover that Annie is at Victoria Coach Station with the stolen money, waiting for Eve to arrive. As the officers finally catch up with her, Annie is arrested for burglary and brought into the station.

Thursday, 19 March at 8 pm

PCs Arun Ghir (Abhin Galeya) and Mel Ryder (Rhea Bailey), along with Sergeant Smith (Alex Walkinshaw) are called to an isolated lay-by where Art Minshull (Jack Gordon) lies unconscious with serious head injuries. Discovering that Art is a truck driver for his father’s haulage firm, Smithy speculates that his vehicle was hijacked for the cigarettes he was transporting. At the hospital, Arun explains the situation to Art’s shocked girlfriend, Louise Harwood (Hannah Croft) and his parents, Roy (Kenneth Hadley) and Diane (Joanna Bacon).

Back at the station, CID are stunned when they obtain CCTV footage that shows Art smuggling an adult female and her child into his trailer. Armed with this new information, Art is questioned and he admits he was attacked in the lay-by by masked men. Although he won’t reveal the identity of the people he smuggled into the country, the officers are struck by his concern for them.

Elsewhere, Arun and Mel head to Louise’s house where she finally confesses that it was her who convinced Art to smuggle the two people – Halima and Mahmud – into the country. A sympathetic Arun listens to Louise while she explains she met the mother when she travelled overseas. She couldn’t refuse them help them when Halima called to say she desperately needed to escape her violent and dangerous husband.

Back at the station, DC Jo Masters (Sally Rogers) discovers footage of the stolen lorry with the trailer no longer attached. As the officers now face a race against time to find Halima and Mahmud who are stuck in the missing trailer, Jo visits an informant from the trucking world, Colin Sage (Huggy Leaver) and is stunned to see Art’s father at the scene, beating Colin up. Is Roy somehow involved in his son’s attack and the people smuggling?

With fears for Halima and Mahmud growing, Sun Hill officers work together in order to find them. However, when the trailer is eventually found, Arun and Mel search every inch, along with CID officers, but find it empty. Realising that someone has been tipped off and freed the pair, Mel’s suspicions are aroused when she realises Arun is overly relived to find the trailer empty. Has the PC made the biggest mistake of his career by letting his heart rule his head?

Missing bit of March 18th Spoiler

....................When questioned, Annie admits to stealing the money and tells Beth that she wanted her and Eve to escape Charlie and reveals that she saw Charlie push her mother down the stairs. However, unconvinced by Annie’s version of events, Samantha and Beth dig deeper into the family’s history and are stunned when they realise what really happened between Charlie and Eve.

At the end of her last shift, Beth decides to say goodbye to Nate in a way he’ll never forget. Prowling around the visibly nervous officer in his locker room, she leans in for a kiss.

I hope she is standing on a box or Nates kiss could be more intersting than he bargained for!!!!

Oh I'm sure there will be a newbie joining soon. What with Beth and Sam leaving, there'll probably be some fresh faces around.

She really gets on my wick.
You sound like my mother, she always says that
    Thanks CrazyLea
