its really cold here too, and windy and raining! one of my housemates has banned us from having the heating on during the day! so the rest of us have to keep sneaking down to turn it back on lol! im sitting here in 2 hoodies atm!
Can he/she actually ban you from having heating on during the day? It is ridiculous, it is winter time after all. What does he/she do to keep warm when sitting quiet at a desk/table and working?

Tell her if she wants to save electricity/money or whatever just put everything off standby and turn off some lights. Turning down the heat in winters just unessecary.

Peter: So how many are there? Is it bad? Olivia: Did you eat? Peter: Yeah. Olivia: Well, that's unfortunate.

well no she cant actually ban us but she keeps moaning that it doesnt need to be on during the day. she goes home every weekend so weve had it on quite a bit the last few days. i dont normally mind whether the heatings on or not but lately its been so cold in here that even ive wanted the heating on! i can see where shes coming from cos it is expensive but we are all gonna freeze otherwise lol!

she probably does that anyway, i think she sits in the dark lol! whenever i come back to the house in the evening i can never see her light on! she moans that we have the hot water on constantly too, which i know is costing a lot of money, but we all have showers at different times and i dont wanna have to have a shower only when the hot waters on!

It is more expensive to heat the water a couple of times a day rather than keeping it at a certain temperature. Same with the heating, it will cost less to maintain the temperature rather than the heating having to work full blast to raise the temperature in the house.

Can you not regulate the temperature in your rooms individually? I need at least 23 degrees to be comfortable but I appreciate that others are happy at a lower temperature (OH likes it cooler - always causes problems in winter, but I tend to win )

erm what do you mean? we have the temperature thingy in the hall which you put the temperature you want on, and then apart from that its just how high you want the individual radiators. the problem isnt that she thinks its too hot, but that it costs too much money which is why she wants it off altogether
