Where do you live?

National express coaches do quite good deals, especially It was £12 return London-Northampton (2 1/2 hours) when I went. I've heard megabus are quite good.

I think that November would be best for meeting up? I expect Sept/Oct with uni's starting we will all be busy and drink filled. ;)
