Dannii Minogue voted celeb of the year

X Factor judge Dannii Minogue has been voted Celebrity of the Year in a newspaper poll.

The Aussie popstar received more than 9,600 votes in the Metro popularity contest after appearing on the ITV1 talent show for a second year.

Girls Aloud singer and X Factor newcomer Cheryl Cole finished in second place, while the Spice Girls, Kylie Minogue and Britney Spears completed the top five.

One voter told the newspaper: "Dannii Minogue should win! She has had to put up with so much stick, backstabbing and sniping, and all said and done she is a fantastic judge and mentor to all the contestants. Give Dannii a break and make her Celeb of the Year!"

Another added: "[Dannii] is serene in The X Factor in spite of all the negativity. I hope she wins."

Minogue was also voted the UK's favourite X Factor judge last month. However, recent reports have claimed that she is likely to be axed from the programme next year.

How can she be voted Celeb of the year, apart from the x-factor she hasn't done anything else.

Thanks to Vicky for my great new banner xxx

I'm glad she won. At least, it's something positive she can take from the media, instead of all the repetitive backstabbing she is always at the recieving end of.

If she didn't deserve it then what did Cheryl Cole do to come second. I am glad she got 1st place because the rubbish she has had to put up with in the media and hassle from the other judges and former judges on the X factor and she never answered back or stooped to their level - well done Danni (and I am really not a fan of hers)

So she deserves it because she didn't respond to negative press? Surely that makes her publicist "celeb of the year" then, as it is them that control what she is seen to have said and not said.

Negative Press doesn't constiture an award. Because otherwise Britney and Amy Winehouse would be getting awards all over the place - Because they too had negative press, but didn't respond.

Surely someone who has done some good should get these kinds of awards. Like Brad Pitt putting so much time and effort into helping people in New Orleans, or something like that.
