    OMG - that is such a difficult assignment.

    The story is so horrific that there is a danger of making it gratuitous if you show the violence, but then again if you don't is the story as strong.

    There would have to be a lot of implied neglect and scenes of the mother shutting doors and screaming.

    If you have to do all three books then I would start at the end and tell the story in flash backs.

    Still trying to read 1984, and A Handmaids Tale. I can't get into them, they're worded too intelligent for me!...I ahve to read them though, or I won't be passing English Literature this year!

    I just finished reading "please Daddy don't" by Barbra Naughton.. about abuse victim in Ireland.. I read it in one day.. The man got 11 years in the end.. he deserved longer and she named and shamed her father.. fair play to her...

    Can I ask what kind of abuse, I know it might sound like a werid question but in my drama we are doing our play based on peoples abuse of their authority and we need to fit it in to social, cultrual and historical context

    it was sexual abuse, rape. He also physically abuse his son and his wife, beating them both on regular occasions.. yet he never touched his eldest son or his 2 youngest daughters
