Freshers' week starts on Saturday for Stoke campus (where I am) and Sunday for Stafford until the following Sunday. I start the course on the 22nd Sept.

I haven't got that much personal stuff to take. My mum has bought loads of kitchen things (even a George Foreman grill) and stuff for my en suite bathroom which is gonna take up way more room in the car than my things. I'll fit all my things into three boxes plus a suitcase for my clothes and my laptop bag.

How long did it take you you to set up your internet connection in halls?
my uni normally starts the same week as youre starting (my freshers week started on 16th sept i think it was) but this year it seems theyve decided to start a week later which is annoying as we then finish a week later for xmas and i dont get to have my bday off!

lol my mum was like that, she bought me a george foreman in the middle of this year cos they were in a sale and were really cheap and she bought one for at home and thought i might like one too, ive not used it much, same as the toastie maker i bought when i started! i didnt have an ensuite when i lived on campus cos those rooms were over £1000 more expensive than the other rooms, but the house we lived in last year and this year all have ensuites and after having one i dont think i could go back to sharing lol!

erm obviously it might be different for different unis but i think it only took about 1hr to set up my internet. once the uni had made sure id paid for the internet they gave me a connection lead to connect the internet to my laptop and a disc to install it onto my laptop and it was pretty straightforward. the bits that took the time was that they had to run a full system scan to check for viruses and i had to set up a user area on my laptop cos it wouldnt let you connect til your computer had a password to get onto it. some of my housemates had a problem with theirs but mine was quite quick. i think uni internet connections are gonna be as straightforward as possible

Oh thats great. I was thinking I might be offline for several days.

Three showers between twelve girls isn't my idea of fun so I opted for the en suite. It is nearly £1k more than standard accommodation but at least I can spend as long as I like in the shower and leave things in the bathroom without them getting nicked. Standard halls are single sex flats only whereas ensuites are mixed flats which is great, don't think I could live with 12 girls.

I luckily managed to send Dad my homework so he could print it for me.. The whole comp. thing happened again but this time Dad tried it and it wouldn't work and then when I tried it, it works.. Haha! So been on the comp doing more work and stuff - I will use it while I can!..
Just did my Maths homework and I have no clue what to do, teacher is rubbish (Have 3 teachers!.. ) so he didn't explain what we should be doing exactly as he left everything a bit too late. But I tried my best and did everything I could.. Can't believe it was Day 2 and we got homework like this.. Well least we were warned

I've had no homework yet. We didn't do much in lessons either, we only had to get a pen out in two of them and in one of them we were playing a game. The text books for the course haven't arrived so we will be starting it late. There aren't even enough on order now as more people than the school had anticipated opted in at the last minute.

I guess we will get a pile of work this week though.

When I saw my friend at lunch on Friday she had homework from both lessons that she'd been to up until that point. She didn't understand her Maths either - she ended up doing it after we were allowed to leave tutorial (if we don't have assembly or one to one tutoring all we have to do is go to the room and get marked in, then we can go,) and she said she'd just guess it. She's got the teacher I had for GCSE and he doesn't explain stuff, just writes things on the board as if he's doing it for exercise. He basically patronised everyone who didn't get an A* saying that they would have to work their butts off then set them the work. I would think everyone struggles for a bit considering the jump from GCSE.

We have two teachers for each subject. I have Economics with a Maths teacher tomorrow. The teacher I had on Friday told us that he would be doing the parts of the course that involve Maths, but I hope he actually knows something about Economics too! The Maths part can't be outrageously hard as we didn't even have to have a C in GCSE Maths to take Economics.

i wouldnt think itd take days to get the internet cos its already set up for the rooms, you just have to connect your computer to it. in our oncampus accomodation they had single sex and mixed houses of both shared and ensuite. i shared 1 shower and 2 toilets with 4 boys, the boys left all their toiletries in the bathroom but i kept mine in my room and just took them in when i needed them which was quite annoying! thats what i like about my ensuite now that i can spend as long as i like in the shower! and its a good thing really as me and my housemates take ages to get ready and are always late for things so if we had to share a bathroom it would be a nightmare lol! i dont think i could live with 12 girls either! everyone kept asking me how i managed to live with 4 boys with me being the only girl but it wasnt that bad, at least there was no bitchiness!

I made a cake to take into school for tomorrow for my friend who turned 18
She was really down the other day because quite alot of people dropped out of her meal and she was upset so hopefully it'll cheer her up if we put some banners and balloons up in the block and I made her a cake too Just like my Nans
Went to my firend then with the girls and we ordered pizza and watched 2 of her films : Fear (which I;ve never seen but was good if very weird!) and The Notebook.. I can't help but cry everytime and we were all arguing over whether they're surrounded by geese, ducks or swans when theyre in the boat.. we jsut left it in the end haha

Going to see Lee Evans tomorrow! I am soooo excited!
I jsut ahve this bad feeling our friend who got our tickets hasn't ordered enough tickets to people, because when we ordered them in January there were 13 of us going but now there's 14.. so I'll have to ask him tomorrow yn yr ysgol
