When Sarah Payne and those two girls from Soham went missing I think the families were investigated.

I totally agree Siobhan, Shannon is better off without "parents" like that. Have the other children been taken into care?

Yes.. the other kids have been taken into care

In regards to immediate family.. yes they should be all investigated but with the mcCann's there was outrage that the PJ did this... it should have been done back in May and not in September

Totally agree.. but I still stand by that the parents (or last people to see the child) should instantly be made accountable until proven not the case. I mean look at the kids so far: Madeline, nobody knows what has happen to her, Mari Luz (god rest her little soul) abducted by a neighbour and Shannon set up by the immediate family.

I agree - stranger abduction is extremely, extremely rare. I can only think of Sara Payne in recent years that this term would apply to.

According to latest news.. shannon's mum knew where she was all along and it was her means of getting away from her boyfriend but she bottled out at the last minute and cried abduction instead.. It is also been reported that police are looking at a episode of Shameless which has a fake abduction which they believe is where Karen got her inspiration from

The family on Shameless are better behaved than this shower. The whole thing was suss from the beginning. They all deserve whats coming to them especially Shannons mother and her pervy boyfriend. Seven kids to five fathers. Has the woman never heard of birth control.

Shannon mother in neglect charge




The mother of Shannon Matthews has been charged in connection with the nine-year-old's disappearance.
Karen Matthews, 32, of Moorside Road, Dewsbury Moor, faces charges of child neglect and perverting the course of justice.
Shannon vanished on 19 February and was found 24 days later after one of the largest missing person hunt's West Yorkshire Police had ever conducted.
Ms Matthews will appear before Dewsbury magistrates on Wednesday.
Peter Mann, spokesman for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), said: "We have carefully considered all of the evidence in the file and decided there is sufficient evidence to charge Karen Matthews with perverting the course of justice and child neglect.
"We will continue to keep this case under review."
Mr Mann said despite huge interest in the events surrounding Shannon Matthews, Ms Matthews was entitled to a fair trial. Michael Donovan, 39, of Lidgate Gardens, Batley Carr, is accused of abducting Shannon. He faces charges of kidnap and false imprisonment and a provisional trial date for him has been set for 11 November.

It makes you wonder what sick ********** are out and about in this world. Who would do such a thing just to get press attention and now it seems to get money from the other set of parents who it looks like might have done the same thing but more cleverly.

Apparantly, members of the family went to the McCann's home and begged them for money from the Maddy trust fund.

I can't believe that a mother could do that to her own child for money. Lots of people have problems with money, nobody in their right mind would conspire to kidnap their own child.

I don't think this matter if you are a good mother.. One report I did laugh at was saying she has 5 kids to 7 fathers.. I didn't realise that Yorkshire men could share parentage
