Regardless of peoples opinions of Shannon's upbringing and that her mother has had 7 kids to 5 different fathers. The most important thing is that for once a missing child has been found alive, which we all know over the last 20 years is a rare sight. If Shannon's abduction was staged for publicity reason then all involved should rot in jail.

My mum told me it was the step dad's uncle that did it, then wasted no time in expressing her opinion that the family set it up between themselves for publicity. She's against Shannon's family because of the way they live and the amount of children the mother has.

I can't see that they would gain significantly from the publicity in a financial way.

That's exactly what I said to my mum. I said if it was a set up then wouldn't they have then had someone in on the plan to say they'd found Shannon and get the reward money. Mum seemed to think they'd do it just to get in the papers and on the Tv, because there's some sad people around who would do that. Not that they got enough publicity for a missing person's case anyway because of their background.

I know that the "hoax" theory is attracting more and more believers.

I think that if this was the case she would have been discovered sooner. 24 days is a long time to keep a hoax going - especially as now that she has been found the hoax has all gone pear shaped as the "abductor" has been caught.

My personal opinion is that Shannon willingly entered the flat and willingly stayed there. The Police have said today that they are "cautiously optimistic" that she hasn't been harmed - physically at least, and now that they have concluded their medical checks we can presume that that also means that she hasn't suffered sexual abuse.

Karen Matthews always appeared genuine to me so I really hope that it doesn't turn out that she was involved in any way.

Money....greed....15 minutes of fame.....very sick people, if its true.

Quite a few things don't add up for me. In my paper, it said they were expecting the police to be making some more arrests soon...

The law is different in Scotland from England. If this crime had been committed north of the border. The public would never have known who the criminal was until he was due to stand trial and if there has been previous convictions they are not discloesed until the criminal is convicted.
