    I can't imagine Jean having abused him, I reckon he is suffering from post traumatic stress disorder, something to do with his army past.

    I know that was a shock, maybe thats why his is off with Jean, cos did Jean go manic depressive after her husband died, and maybe Sean feels guilty that he did this to her
