Christina Aguilera has confirmed that she is expecting her first child.

Rumours that the singer was pregnant began circulating as far back as February, but she has now admitted that a baby is on the way.

Aguilera told US reporters that she will "enter into mommyhood" at the start of 2008.

Talking about her lover Jordan Bratman, she said: "He's thrilled! He's just great."
