It’s the night before the trial, and in a groundbreaking episode featuring only two cast members, Deirdre continues to probe Tracy for the truth.
Years of resentment and recriminations come to a head as Deirdre tells Tracy a few home truths and the relationship between the two reaches boiling point.
With emotions running high, Deirdre says she’s prepared to lie for Tracy if she opens up to her. Tracy goes on to truthfully reveal all the events leading up to Charlie’s death. She includes everything from the fake injuries and screams to locking herself in her room. Deirdre is shaken and hysterical.
But will she stand by her daughter following the revelations, or is the truth just too much to handle?

It’s the day of the trial and following Tracy’s revelations about Charlie’s death, Deirdre tells Ken everything whilst a vulnerable Tracy seeks comfort from Steve. Ken is furious with Tracy for putting Deirdre under pressure and the moral situation she has put them in, and confronts Tracy. Deirdre is unsure what she will say in court and Blanche gets curious.
Meanwhile, Liam continues to flirt with Leanne, asking her out for a drink. But as Leanne playfully resists, focused on the impending sale of number seven, Liam is harbouring a secret that could turn things a bit sour.
As the Morton household settle into the street, Kayleigh is struggling and doesn’t want to go to school, revealing that she wants to move back in with her mum.
Elsewhere, Molly teases Dev about Tracy, and Norris is prompted to cook for Emily after her difficult day.
The trial gets underway and Jason is the first to take the stand for the prosecution. He claims that Charlie wanted to leave Tracy and she always wound him up as a game.
Meanwhile, Deirdre is in turmoil and continues to feel the strain as she contemplates lying for her daughter. Deirdre’s attitude towards Tracy confuses Liz who is unaware of the situation.
Maria is next on the stand and tells them how she felt threatened by Tracy and not Charlie. As the evidence seems to weigh against Tracy the defence urge Maria to talk about the time she walked in on Charlie trying to drown David.
The forensic expert proceeds to give vital evidence against Tracy saying how Charlie had no injuries indicating a struggle and there was none of Tracy’s blood on the incriminating statue from her wounded hand.
Deirdre is unaware of events in court but how will she react to the revelations when Adam and Peter start analysing the forensic expert’s case in her living room? Will she be able to lie for Tracy after this?

Meanwhile, Sarah tries to reassure Jason, who feels he has let Charlie down on the witness stand, and an anxious Claire looks for support from Casey when Ashley is too busy. Accompanied by Joshua and Freddie, they meet up and Casey tries to allay her fears about the trial.
After finding out that Kayleigh wants to live with her mum, Jerry feels he doesn’t have a choice even though he knows she’s better off with him. He talks to Jodie and tries to convince himself that the girls are better off with their mothers. Feeling uneasy about the decision Jerry arranges for Kayleigh to go back to her mum. Kayleigh, on the other hand, is delighted.
Elsewhere, Leanne is furious when she finds out it was Liam who put in the higher offer for number seven but Liam hints at wanting to make it up to her.

Tracy is stunned to hear that Deirdre has decided not to lie for her in court and even more appalled that Ken wants her to tell the truth. Refusing to accept defeat Tracy tries to manipulate her into changing her mind.
The trial continues and as Tracy is called to the witness stand, she tries to get the jury’s sympathy by crying as she relives events of the fateful night whilst Ken watches disapprovingly. However, the tables seem to turn when the prosecutors bring up the forensic expert’s revelations and ask Tracy to pick up the murder weapon with her injured hand which she is unable to do.
A nervous Claire then takes the stand fighting Tracy’s corner but again the prosecution bring her down by bringing up her recent medical history and the fact she was sectioned, implying effects on her judgment. A dissatisfied and desperate Tracy continues to manipulate her mother into testifying and it almost looks as if her scheming ways are working.
The trial continues...
Janice is still trying to look out for her step-daughter Leanne as she takes in her schedule of clients for the day. Sporting an expensive bag, Leanne causes a stir with Janice’s workmates who are impressed by her new found wealth but problems arise when Janice sets out to return the bag to Leanne, who is with a client. Also at the factory, Carla plants the idea of getting in more foreign workers as staffing continues to be a problem; Liam seems reluctant, for now.
Elsewhere, Jerry Morton is helping Kayleigh with the move back to her mum’s hoping that she will reconsider. There is a lot of tension between Jerry and Teresa as he drops his daughter off and Teresa demands money for her upkeep, claiming she can’t afford to keep her.
Friday, March 30
It is a worrying day for Tracy as the two people who know what really happened on that fateful night prepare to give evidence in her defence.
She knows that Deirdre is still not sure if she will be able to go through with committing perjury but David seems as keen to lie for her as ever! The real problems start when he takes the stand though and it soon becomes clear that his evidence might not be everything she had hoped for.
Meanwhile Deidre decides to take the stand much to Ken's dismay. Can she help Tracy after David's somewhat damaging performance in the witness box? As the court prepares to adjourn for the weekend have Tracy and her defence witnesses done enough to guarantee her freedom?

Elsewhere, the factory girls are less than impressed when Liam introduces them to their new Polish colleagues. Janice is the most outspoken but Vicky won’t take the insults lying down.
Leanne is still angry with Liam about the house but she soon forgives him and it is clear she enjoys being in company with him and Carla.
