Ladies' man Russell Brand cosied up to Girls Aloud and the Sugababes at the launch of Red Nose Day.

The two bands are teaming up on this year's Comic Relief single, a cover of the Run-DMC hit Walk This Way.

Girls Aloud stars Sarah Harding, Kimberly Walsh and Nicola Roberts were at the launch with Sugababes Keisha Buchanan, Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah - all wearing their red noses.

"It's a fantastic song and hopefully will raise tons of money for people living in really difficult situations here and in Africa," said Walsh.

Brand will be one of the presenters for BBC One's Red Nose Night on March 16. He will co-host the seven-hour telethon alongside the likes of Davina McCall, Chris Evans, Lenny Henry, Graham Norton, Fearne Cotton and Jonathan Ross.

The official launch took place at the London Eye - and the famous landmark got into the spirit of things by wearing its very own red nose.

Highlights of this year's fundraising extravaganza include the last-ever episode of the Vicar Of Dibley, with a special guest appearance by Sting.

Comic Relief Does The Apprentice will see Sir Alan Sugar put 10 celebrities through their paces. The girls' team, made up of fashion queen Trinny Woodall, actress Maureen Lipman, comic Jo Brand, Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole and football boss Karren Brady, will be pitted against the boys' team of DJ Danny Baker, ex-EastEnder Ross Kemp, former Mirror editor Piers Morgan, actor Rupert Everett and former Labour spin doctor Alastair Campbell.

Celebrity Fame Academy will return with hosts Patrick Kielty and Fearne Cotton. And Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles will tour the nation hosting a series of karaoke nights.

This is the 11th Red Nose Day and the 21st year of Comic Relief. The charity has raised more than £425 million so far and sold over 45 million red noses.
