Coronation Street star Paddy Bever has teased the reported upcoming return of Martin Platt, who's expected to make a comeback as part of iconic character Gail Platt's exit storyline.
Bever, who plays Martin's adoptive grandson Max Turner on the soap, spoke to The Sun at the Radio Times Soap Awards about welcoming Martin star Sean Wilson onto set again.
"Absolutely yeah," he said when asked whether he was looking forward to working with the actor. "I've not met him yet but I've heard lots of lovely things."
Wilson has not yet spoken publicly about his rumored return, but it's thought he'll make his way back to the cobbles to help give Gail a happy ending.
After it was confirmed actor Helen Worth will be leaving her role as Gail after 50 years, Corrie's executive producer Iain MacLeod promised Gail wouldn't be getting a tragic ending. Instead, he revealed he's been considering what viewers would like to see in her final scenes.
"Gail has had a hard life. She had a difficult childhood and disastrous marriages," he said. "So, we thought what viewers really want is a happy ending for her, so that what we're doing."
Martin was introduced to the street in 1985 and he went on to enjoy a decade-long marriage to Gail. The two welcomed a son, David Platt, in 1990.
Gail and Martin's marriage ended after he had an affair with nurse Rebecca Hopkins. He then went on to controversially date teenager Katy Harris. He later left Weatherfield behind in 2005 when he met girlfriend Robyn, with the couple going on to welcome a daughter off-screen one year later.
Martin's last appearance was in 2018, when he told David that he was emigrating to New Zealand with his family. While David considered moving abroad himself, he eventually decided to stick around in Weatherfield.
Gail's exit storyline is due to air on ITV1 and on top streaming service ITVX towards the end of the year.

Sean Wilson has exited Coronation Street before his return scenes have even aired.
The actor was due to reprise his role as Martin Platt as part of long-time co-star Helen Worth's departure storyline, but the soap has confirmed to Digital Spy this will no longer be the case.
"Sean Wilson has stepped down from filming for personal reasons," an ITV spokesperson told us.
A representative for Wilson has also been approached for comment. His spokesperson told The Sun: "Neither he nor I will be making any further comment or statement.?
According to The Sun, all of the scenes Sean filmed since he returned to set late last month have been scrapped and will no longer air.
In late July, ITV released the first details of Martin Platt's return storyline as it was revealed he'd surprise son David by suddenly turning up at No. 8 Coronation Street.
Martin had last been seen in Weatherfield in 2018 when he moved away to New Zealand with his then-girlfriend Robyn and their daughter Charlotte.
At the time of his return being announced, Sean said he felt honoured to "contribute to Helen [Worth]'s exit story".
"We'll have a few months to catch up with Martin and Gail again, following the ebbs and flows of the unfolding storyline," he said at the time.
"Playing Martin has been a joy since day one and, in a way, I'll be slipping back to where I left off, which no doubt will throw a spanner into the heart of the Platt family."
Wilson originally joined Coronation Street as Martin Platt in 1985, with his coupling with Gail becoming one of the soap's most iconic pairings in the following decades.
Helen Worth is set to leave her role as Gail Platt after 50 years on Coronation Street, with producer Iain MacLeod promising the character will not be killed off.

Sean Wilson has claimed his dream return to Coronation Street was blocked due to an unfounded sex allegation.
The actor, 59, had filmed scenes as Martin Platt, the character he played from 1985 to 2005 and briefly again in 2018, but these were pulled after he was told he was under police investigation for an alleged indecent assault dating back to 1997.
According to the Sun, Wilson was cleared 10 days ago, with police confirming no further action would be taken. The complaint is said to have been made by someone connected to the show and alleged that Wilson had put his hand up a woman?s skirt over 25 years ago.
Wilson was reportedly never told the name of the complainant.
The actor had filmed scenes with his former on-screen wife Gail (Helen Worth), but it is understood these will now not be used.

?My reputation was ruined in just eight minutes ? my whole world blown apart,? Wilson told the Sun.
?I had no idea who had made this complaint or anything about it but I lost my job. It's been hell. I've been low all the way through.?
ITV previously announced that Wilson had agreed a 10 episode contract but later said he left for ?personal reasons?.
In an email to the actor, they said: ?This is to discuss a historical allegation of a sexual nature which has been made about you in the past few days relating to when you were previously under contract to the programme.
?We will realise this will come out of the blue for you as it has for us.?
The allegation was dismissed after police informed him in an emotional phone call on November 21 that no further action would be taken.
He added: ?I could have been making thousands of pounds a week but instead I have become persona non grata throughout this whole sorry episode. My career is in tatters.?
Wilson is now said to be looking to get his career back on track having largely left acting in the 2010s, and is reportedly eyeing up future panto roles.
