The people who write the police storylines on the soaps have absolutely no concept of police procedures or how an actual investigation should be carried out. It's little wonder the wrong folk always get convicted in soapland and eventually get released. A DS and a DC investigating 3 murders- Drug dealing and slavery in Emmerdale. Corrie is no better. We have DC Kit the Twit who bosses the Gay boss around and all the time her former wife/lover is running rings around them all until she is charged, convicted and sentenced in one of the quickest trials in British Criminal History!!!!!

But it is a tartan blanket and Moira is Scottish - need I say more?

Such an obvious clue!!! I never noticed. I thought the half empty bottle of IRN BRU was a red herring but no, it was conclusive proof for Clueless of the Dales!!

You had me laughing with this one. You would think that Bear would be questioned as an eye witness about Anya. I found his scene with Ruby very touching.

I do not understand why they make these mistakes in police rank. It only takes two or three letters typed on a page for the writers to "promote" a DS to a DI or a DCI. Is it deliberate to avoid upsetting the real police. Mind you that does not excuse other mistakes, like how someone can be arrested for murdering someone before establishing if they actually knew them. In the real world the first thing the police do is try to identify the victim and how they died. Strictly speaking I do not think it could be said that Anya was murdered, she died from an infection. Of course other charges could arise from that.

Ray said he would get her a doctor but never did, never had any intention of doing so.

Not murdered as such but manslaughter by omission ? Criminally Negligent Manslaughter/Homicide ?

Probably Gross Negligence Manslaughter. But Moira had been charged with murder before cause of death was established.
