Rather poetic, since Nate also died of a reaction to whatever John injected him with. I don't know how she got the needle either, unless he had one in his pocket and was about to inject her with it, and she twisted it around or he fell on it and it miraculously dispensed.

We saw John earlier in the day getting a plastic bag out of his pocket with several ready loaded hypodermic needles, He seems to always carry them. This was before the accident mayhem.
