Emmerdale's Kim Tate reflects on days gone by, while she's all alone this Christmas. The sombre scenes take place as Kim refuses to make peace with Joe Tate and Lydia Dingle after surprising rows in the run-up to the holiday season.

The not-so-festive fortnight kicks off with Kim cancelling her order for her family Christmas dinner, before Joe arrives to try to end a dispute that they've been locked in for some time.

Viewers will find out the reasons for their tensions in the coming weeks, but Kim is in no mood for forgiveness and turfs Joe out. Are the Tates at risk of being torn apart for good?

"Joe is basically ousted from the house by Kim," explains Ned Porteous, who plays Joe. "She's so cross because of what he has done. So, it's going to be a different Christmas for Joe."

The next day, Kim takes a tumble at Home Farm and finds herself unable to stand up on her own. As a result, she calls for help but is disgruntled when Lydia comes to her rescue.

Despite being immediately dismissed, Lydia refuses to leave and sticks by Kim's side.

Later in the week, Joe makes another attempt to reconcile with Kim so that they can spend Christmas with each other.

"Joe's gutted about the fact that he's annoyed Kim," reveals Ned. "But at the time he believed he was doing the right thing, as Joe always does! Let's just hope that he can win her around in the New Year?"

When Christmas Day arrives, Kim mopes around her mansion on her own. Feeling pensive, Kim then picks up photographs featuring ghosts from her past, while plenty of her fellow villagers embrace the festive season ? with a public proposal even taking place. But where does Joe end up?

"Joe spends Christmas somewhere a little different this year," teases Ned. "He's out of his comfort zone for sure, but there is also a nice, happy piece of news for him?"

Without Joe around, will Kim continue to spurn her small circle? And if so, for how long will she wallow in her misery?
