Emmerdale has announced that Casualty star Jaye Griffiths is joining the cast.

The actor, perhaps best known for playing Elle Gardner, will cause a lot of trouble as no-nonsense farmer Celia.

Viewers will first meet Celia as she comes to Moira Dingle and asks her if she can rent two of her fields.

Despite Moira's financial struggles, she is hesitant to take Celia up on her offer, as her reputation precedes her. It's not as easy to just shrug the whole thing off as Moira would like, however, as Celia means business.

In later scenes, one of Celia's guard dogs viciously attacks Paddy Kirk, leaving him hospitalised. Her reaction will be a hint at her true colours.

"I was delighted to get this role ? without giving the game away she is very different to anyone I have played before and I can't wait to really get into the heart of her storyline," Jaye said.

"We are absolutely delighted to have Jaye Griffiths joining us to play the role of Celia," producer Laura Shaw added. "Having recently taken over a nearby farm, not much is known about mysterious Celia's past before arriving on the outskirts of the village.

"While Celia has a tough edge with an air of respectability, the audience, and our villagers, will soon start to see what this woman is truly capable of."

It's also been teased that Celia's arrival will have an effect on the Barton and Sugden families, setting up a new conflict for the established farming clans.

Meanwhile, the BBC has confirmed that Casualty will be undergoing a major change next year, as the show will leave Holby and move to a new hospital.

There?s a mysterious newcomer in Emmerdale next week, who wastes no time making her presence felt.

Strong, slightly sinister Celia has taken over the farm next to Moira?s beloved Butler?s and has a proposition for her cash-strapped neighbour that immediately sets up a rivalry between the women. Little is known about Celia, other than the fact she looks like she?s not to be messed with.

Playing this intriguing new arrival is acclaimed actor Jaye Griffiths, who millions will recognise from her starring roles in Casualty, Doctors and The Bill.

We at Inside Soap catch up with the fabulous Jaye, who tells us why she?s so excited about bringing sly Celia to our screens.

Hi, Jaye! What drew you to the character of Celia?

"It?s rare you get to play women who don?t conform or care. Celia is unapologetic, she truly does not understand why people would be any other way, or why you should worry what others think of you. When she wants something, she can read her fellow humans and know exactly what to say to elicit how to get it."

Tell us about your first scene?

"I walk onto the farm with my big stick and offer Moira a price to rent two of her fields, knowing it?s too low but that Moira needs the money. Moira stands her ground and says no, which not many people say to Celia and survive!

"When they do, Celia immediately thinks: ?Now you?re on my list?? You really don?t want to be on Celia?s list, but Moira is at the top of it. And other names have been added subsequently?"

Doesn?t she clash with Paddy too?

"Yes, when Celia?s large, beautiful Alsatian bites him! The attack is so savage it ruptures an artery, it?s not a little nip. Celia?s response is to deny she even has a dog, when she clearly does! If she says it enough times, Paddy will start to doubt his own sanity ? that?s how she works.

"She reframes reality to shut you down. Celia contradicts herself and forgets which lies she?s told people so nothing is ever her fault. It?s incredibly difficult to argue with. As a skillset that is almost admirable!"

EMMERDALE star Jaye Griffiths has confirmed her shock exit from the soap ? just months after joining.

The actress ? who plays villain Celia Daniels in the ITV soap ? has frankly opened up about having to leave the soap as her character?s horrific deeds have been revealed.

Viewers now know that Celia has been running not only a county lines drugs operation, but a forced prostitution ring but also a modern day slavery racket on her farm.

Teen April Windsor has been groomed and manipulated into drug dealing and being sold for sex, while Bear Wolf has been enslaved in horrific circumstances.

And now Celia?s evil deeds are known, it has put a time limit on actress Jaye?s time in the village ? something she signed up for.

Speaking to The Sun and other media, Jaye said: ?I knew it was finite, which I am very sad about, because I would like to stay forever, but it?s such a strong arc.?
