Answering my own question here. Looking back she told Laurel when she came back from holiday it was a snorkeling accident. I only noticed the bandage yesterday. Maybe something that happened in real life and they just worked it into the story.

Google tells me it takes 6 to 8 weeks for a broken finger to heal, so we can see how long she has the bandage for. If it is a real life injury we can see if she heals as fast as she would do if treated by Hotten General.
