EastEnders' Peter Beale pulls out all the stops to arrange a covert wedding for Lauren Branning next week ? but will she agree to marry him when he pops the question? As Peter puts Lauren on the spot, there's a sense that the couple are at a crossroads.
In a bid to secure his future with Lauren, Peter organises a surprise ceremony in The Vic. But with his bride-to-be in the dark, she might not even show up. Has Peter judged this all wrong, or will Lauren affirm her commitment to him?
"Lauren does a runner on their big day," our EastEnders source explains. "She already has huge doubts about marrying Peter, and now he's completely blindsided her with these plans. It's clear these two aren't on the same page."
Peter was left questioning his relationship after Lauren reacted with indifference following his recent flirtation with another woman. Confused about where he stands, Peter puts plans in place for a surprise wedding, eager to show Lauren how he truly feels. He bosses his family around and tries to send Lauren on a spa day. However, she has other ideas?
Lauren and Penny go for drinks instead of the spa, both oblivious to what's happening at The Vic. Concerned for her cousin, Penny sows seeds of doubt in Lauren's mind. Is Peter what she really wants?
Meanwhile, Peter's surprise is all in place, as Lauren walks into her surprise wedding?
"Lauren is left reeling when she discovers Peter's plan," our insider continues. "The pub's all decked out and Peter's suited and booted. Can she really say no and humiliate him when he's gone to so much effort?"
Lauren reluctantly agrees to Peter's grand gesture and heads home to change. Penny senses her cousin's heart isn't in it, but Lauren forges ahead, before it all becomes too much and she flees. Yet she later arrives back at the pub, ready to say her vows?
