Maybe physically no longer got the strength... has he eaten or had any drink since his escape?

They say desperation gives you strength. He must of had something to drink or he would be dead by now.

He had a tool of some sort that John dropped. It looked like he had scraped the mortar from around the brick and removed it still attached to the chain.
Sent from my desktop computer using my fingers on the keyboard.

He had a flick knife, I think. John obviously must have had all the cement and water to re-attach the chain to the wall before having it out with Aaron

Mack had a Swiss army knife which I presume John took back. Unless John used quick drying cement Mack should have been able to pull the brick out of the wall. Apart from that, there is a shelf by his bed with things on it, perhaps suitable to use. Also there is a bench with more stuff and a tool box which had at least a screwdriver in it. If he cannot reach it, there is a rope or a hosepipe, which looks like it is within reach, that could be use to lasso it. Looks to me like there is the means to escape if he puts his mind to it.

I'm annoyed at Chas, and she's going to eat her words when the truth comes to light, but I'm really annoyed at Vic.They'll both get theirs when Chas learned who drugged her and Vic learns who caused her son's illness - that is, if the slurry incident ever comes to light.
If the police interviewed Charity about Mack's whereabouts, and she showed them her phone, they could trace the location of Mack's message, and find out it came from the cottage near the cliff, which surely must arouse suspicions.

Mack has not been reported as missing, there currently is no reason for them to look for Mack, John has been very thorough in covering his tracks, only Robert is telling the police and they are not listening.

In order to investigate Robert properly they should be listening. The most obvious way to do this, would be to talk to Charity.
