Emmerdale's John Sugden spikes Aaron Dingle's drink next week as the villain's storyline takes another dark turn.

The sly schemer is plotting to make his new husband totally dependent on him, but will Aaron figure out what's going on?

"John offers Aaron a whisky which he used to have with his mum. As Aaron wants to appease John, he takes it, not noticing that John doesn't have a drink," reveals Danny Miller, who plays the village favourite.

"Aaron's so in love that he doesn't have a clue what John's doing. Then, when John nips out, Aaron decides to have a little bit more whisky, not realising what might be in the drink?"

John takes his drastic action despite the fact that he appears to be getting everything he wants when it comes to Aaron.

As the week begins, Aaron tells Chas that he and John are definitely moving away. Naturally, this saddens his mum while pleasing John, who wants to escape his many crimes.

However, when word of the move gets to Robert Sugden, he furiously storms in on Aaron to try and convince him that he's making the wrong choice. As old feelings fly and tension builds, Robert insists that their connection is still alive and he leans in to kiss his ex-husband.

"It's Robert's last-ditch attempt to save Aaron from making the biggest mistake of his life," explains Danny.

"This is his attempt to get Aaron to stay and have that fairytale ending where John goes off into the distance, Aaron gets back with Robert, and they all live happily ever after."

While Aaron rejects Robert, it's clear that he is starting to have his own suspicions about John. When Charity Dingle considers contacting the police about her husband Mack's disappearance, John squirms, makes his excuses and bolts, leaving Aaron questioning his bizarre behaviour?

"John keeps nipping out quite a lot and I think Aaron starts to realise that there's stuff going on that he doesn't know about," Danny explains. "He's got Mackenzie and Robert's voices in the back of his head and he's really trying to ignore all that, because he wants it to work with John."

Meanwhile, John is starting to sense that his husband might be slipping away from him, so when the pair head back to the cottage they plan to make their new home, he decides to make the move with the whisky. `

Feeling woozy from his first glass, Aaron pours another away from John's watchful eye ? but could the extra dose spell deadly danger considering Nate was killed by an accidental overdose at John's hand?

"Aaron has no idea just how dangerous of a situation he's in at that cottage with John, because John's got him all to himself," adds Danny. ?I don't think John even knows what he wants to do, but he does know that he doesn't want to lose the battle for Aaron to Robert??

Will this potentially lethal situation result in a tragic end for Aaron ? and another murder victim for John?
