Catherine Tyldesley's purported comeback to Coronation Street may have taken another major step, with the Rovers Return Inn set to get a shake-up.

It's been widely reported ? though not officially confirmed ? since February that the actor would be reprising her role as Eva Price following a seven-year absence, with fans of the soap eager to know how her return would play out.

In an update last week, it was mooted that the iconic character would land a new job upon her return to Weatherfield, with Eva set to take over the famous Rovers pub following Jenny Connor's career change.

Though ITV hasn't responded to any of the speculation, The Sun has today reported that Eva will arrive on the cobbled streets with a new husband, set to be played by Shameless and Hope Street star Aaron McCusker.

The Irish actor, who portrayed Jamie Maguire and Clint Dunwoody in the respective shows, also had a role opposite Rami Malek in Bohemian Rhapsody. Digital Spy has reached out to ITV for comment, but is yet to hear back.

Though the exact nature of the storyline is unconfirmed, Eva and her new husband are set to head behind the famous pub, where Eva previously worked as a barmaid.

If the pair end up at the Rovers, it has been facilitated by the arc involving Jenny, who was left heartbroken over the departure of Daisy Midgeley. Just last week, it was confirmed that actor Sally Ann Matthews would be leaving the soap after a decade-long stint.

"I had the best time creating a character that could be absolutely bonkers and over the top, [then] to sensitive and vulnerable," said the actor, who first played Jenny in 1986. "There aren't many jobs where you get to play a wide range of emotions ? often in the same scene!

"I've worked away from home for almost 11 years, so having time in the garden with my dog and family is a priority right now! I've been very fortunate in my career to work across all mediums and hopefully that will continue."
