Emmerdale's Robert Sugden gets closer to the shocking truth about Nate Robinson's murder next week when he stumbles across shocking new evidence. Will he discover that his brother John did it and has framed someone else for the crime?
Scheming John thinks he's off the hook for his accidental killing when he pins it on a deceased patient, but not everyone accepts this version of events?
"Every time the net closes in, John manages to wriggle his way out of it," begins our Emmerdale insider.
"His latest effort to deflect suspicion ends up backfiring, and there's a real chance John could finally be caught out ? and no-one will be more pleased than Robert. That's if he doesn't become John's next victim, of course?"
In upcoming scenes, John seizes an opportunity to get away with murder after he runs into Owen, the sleazy guy who tried to spike Robert.
Turns out Owen is a patient of Liam Cavanagh's, who called at the surgery to renew a repeat prescription, but got thrown out when John recognised him. Liam later had a request for a home visit from unwell Owen, but got no answer when he called round.
Concerned something may have happened, Liam returns to the house and still gets no response, so he calls the police. Forcing entry, the cops discover Owen is dead, and he's left something very interesting behind?
"Owen has left a suicide note on his laptop in which he also confesses to killing Nate," our insider says.
"Liam is utterly shocked, but has no idea the note is a fake ? John was behind it, making it appear Owen was responsible for Nate's death to take the heat off him. But was John also to blame for Owen's demise?"
News of Owen's sudden death and supposed 'confession' soon spreads around the community, and the police reveal more details about their gruesome discovery to Nate's grieving family.
Owen's note explains he had an altercation with Nate which ended in violence and his accidental death.
However, Robert is reeling from the revelations about Owen, and is relieved to have escaped from their encounter with his life.
As the news about Nate sinks in, Robert is struck by the coincidence of the man who drugged him also being behind the murder of a much-loved local.
John may have saved his half-brother from his doomed date, but it feels a little convenient that Owen should show up again and for this all to unfold a few days later. Robert wonders whether there's more to John's part in this sinister situation than meets the eye?
"Robert goes to the surgery to find out more about Owen, and Claudette lets slip John was the one who initially responded to the callout for the home visit," reveals our source. "Wouldn't you know it, Owen was then found dead shortly after.
"Smelling something fishy, Robert digs into Owen's background. Tracking down his brother Steve, Robert finds out Owen has an alibi for the day Nate was killed. That means Owen can't have killed Nate ? so Robert wonders who did."
Resolute Robert heads straight to the police station, claiming he has new information about Nate's murder. Is Robert about to uncover John's lies?

Emmerdale's April Windsor clashes with her dad Marlon Dingle next week, after they have very different plans for her future.
When April informs Marlon how much she's loving spending her time working at Take A Vow with Belle, he's not as happy at her news as she'd hoped for, leaving her feeling frustrated?
"April's having a blast working at the wedding planning business," our Emmerdale insider explains.
"After everything she's been through, she's finally found a job that she's passionate about and can do right there in the village. Marlon should be happy for his daughter."
Concerned Marlon sits the troublesome teen down at the kitchen table and spells out that he really thinks she should return to college, as that will offer her the most stability going forward.
But with her dad and worried Rhona pressuring her, April boldly announces that she has other plans for her life, away from college?
"April had a really rough time at school, so she has no interest in going back to college," our source warns.
"Marlon just wants the best for her, and knows that if she doesn't go to college, she won't have the qualifications she needs to get a better job ? but that's not what April sees herself doing at all.
"Her dad needs to respect her wishes and let her forge her own path, or he risks losing her again."
But what exactly are April's big plans for her future? And can Marlon support her in them, or will she be left to go it alone?
Meanwhile, upcoming episodes will see April take centre stage again as she's reunited with Dylan Penders, the boy she befriended during her time on the streets.
Dylan proved popular with fans during his previous appearances and will now be featuring in a big story involving dangerous newcomer Ray.
Show producer Laura Shaw recently told us: "Lovely Fred Kettle, who plays Dylan, is coming back to the show.
"He's going to be bringing his past back to the village with him. And that's going to cause huge problems for April and the wider family there."

Mack confronts Charity
Charity Dingle has offered to become her granddaughter Sarah's surrogate, but hasn't told Mack, who was left gutted a few years ago when she refused to try to have a baby with him after suffering an ectopic pregnancy.
Mack's stunned when he finds out the huge news via Pollard, whose grandson Jacob has used his sperm to inseminate Sarah's egg.
Reeling in shock, stepdad Mack – who's given up his own son Reuben – confronts Charity.
The loaded conversation doesn't go well and quickly turns into a huge argument as the couple rake over the past and their tragic attempt at having a child of their own.
Though Mack's deeply hurt by his wife's willingness to make Sarah's parenting dream come true but not his, Charity reckons she can talk him round and tells worried Sarah it will all be OK.
But Charity's underestimated the depth of Mack's pain.
What will she say when he doles out an ultimatum, insisting she choose their marriage or Sarah's surrogacy?
There's big news elsewhere.
Tracy and Cain are blindsided when DS Walsh calls in with a major development in Nate's unsolved murder.
Secret killer John has been working behind the scenes to cover up his crime and last week planted a 'suicide note' and 'confession' at the home of a patient, Owen, who had died in residence.
When Owen's death becomes apparent, so does his 'murder confession'.
As Tracy and Cain digest the information, John feigns shock when his colleague, GP Liam, tells him about Owen's death and the 'evidence' that's been unearthed.
Robert, however, is deeply suspicious when he hears what's gone on and is convinced that John is somehow involved.
Given that Owen recently tried to date rape Robert and only failed because John stepped in, Robert thinks it's just all too convenient.
Will it spur on the Sugden to pursue his hunch that John is a psycho?

Emmerdale killer John is kicking himself
When John rolled out his cover-up for his killer crime, he thought he'd played a blinder.
Thinking that the fake confession from dead man Owen would put an end to the investigation and start the healing process for the grieving Dingles, the secret murderer learns he's overestimated things.
The killer is knocked when he runs into Cain and discovers the dad is still totally churned up and that the confession has only increased his pain.
Meanwhile, wanting to know every last thing about Owen, Cain bombards his best mate Liam, the GP who found him dead.
But Liam refuses to break doctor-patient confidentiality much to Cain's rage.
Having lost a child himself, Liam totally understands what his friend is going through.
Later, Liam tells John about his interaction with explosive Cain.
Knocked to discover his grand plan hasn't worked out the way he'd hoped, guilt-ridden John turns to his trusty helpline hoping for some calming words of advice…

But when savvy Robert picks up on Kim's desperation to do the deal he backs out.
Later, as the Sugden looks over the land, he starts to wonder why Kim's so keen to own the scrappy patch.
Elsewhere, a family pow-wow sees Noah learn about his mum Charity's plan to become a surrogate for Sarah.
Thursday
Emmerdale's Robert Sugden turns detective
Robert Sugden is convinced the recent confession to Nate's murder just doesn't add up.
He's not buying the story that Owen – who's just died and recently, bizarrely, tried to date rape him – killed Nate Robinson, and is convinced his hated brother, John, is somehow involved.
Determined to find out more, Robert's keeping his ears and eyes open.
So when he spots DC Cole leaving the village surgery, clearly on a fact-finding mission, Robert quizzes receptionist Claudette.
It doesn't take much prodding to get her talking and John soon discovers that his brother, who works at the doctors' as a paramedic, visited Owen shortly before he passed.
Now utterly certain that he's on to something, suspicious Robert digs around on the internet and soon tracks down Owen's brother, Steve.
When Steve agrees to meet Robert, he tells the Sugden that there's no way his brother could have killed Nate as he has a water-tight alibi for that fateful day.
Is John's killer cover-up apart to crumble?
At Butlers, Moira's heart sinks when the water company turn down her appeal against their hefty fine.
It's a huge blow to the farmer who is in the thick of a financial crisis.
Knowing that the Dingle is facing going under, Joe Tate calls in to offer Moira a new deal.
Will she cave in and agree to sell up?
Friday
Emmerdale's Robert Sugden goes to the police about his killer brother
Robert Sugden's convinced he's made a breakthrough regarding the recent 'confession' to Nate Robinson's murder.
Now, while we all know that John Sugden murdered Nate and is living in plain sight among his grieving loved ones, the killer has done a cover-up job and framed a man called Owen.
Convinced that the confession story just sounds weird, particularly as he himself recently had a brush with Owen and was saved by John who hates Robert's guts, the suspicious Sugden's been digging and struck gold.
Having learned that John was round at Owen's place shortly before he died and that Owen has a water-tight alibi for his movements the day Nate died, Robert is convinced that the confession reeks of foul play on John's behalf, and takes his findings to the police.
Will the detectives listen to Robert? Is the Sugden – who's long thought his brother is an absolute psycho – about to find out he's been right all along?
Will Nate's real killer, John, get hauled in for questioning?
At Butlers' Moira is in turmoil.
She's been battling to save the farm which is on the brink following the slurry leak. But the farmer just isn't getting anywhere and the water company are refusing to reduce their crippling fine.
With the ruthless Tates having offered her a way out, Moira has a huge decision to make.
Knowing his wife is in sheer turmoil, Cain vows to back Moira whatever she decides.
Will she sell to Joe and Kim?
Over at Smithy, April and Marlon sit down for a chat about how she's getting on.
Having decided to take a year out of school in a bid to heal from all she endured when she ran away from home, April's been working at Take A Vow with Belle.
Though Marlon backed the idea, he's also keen to see his teenage daughter return to her studies in September.
Question is, is April up for it?
