I am trying to remember if Robert was well liked by people in the village before the killing, I think maybe not, as I seem to remember he was not a very nice guy. This is why I am not too keen on returning characters, as I can rarely remember their past history, especially nowadays when it allows the story tellers to bring them back with, a new face, a new personality or a new history.

He was not very popular, he always was bit jealous of Andy who was adopted. He had an affair with Katie even before she married Andy. He was responsible for Katie's death which was never found out about. When there was trouble in the village, it usually involved Robert. So I don't think that he was very popular with the other villagers.
