The discovery of Leo's body resulted in the developers pulling out.
Then Ronnie found out that Ed was gambling again. Ed threatened to report Ronnie for insider trading when Ronnie said that Aggie ought to be informed. The following month, their father, Sarge, arrived for a visit and asked to borrow ?2,000 from Ronnie and Ed to set up a food truck back home in Dominica, compounding Ed's financial problems. Ed gambled EdiRon's money on a horse and lost. With the true source of EdiRon's funds coming out during a family argument, Dee-Dee accused Ronnie of whetting Ed's appetite for gambling with his insider trading. She went to the police to report his crime, but changed her mind at the last moment, unable to bring herself to put a family member behind bars. Ronnie wrote off Ed's debt to the business but told his brother that they were finished as partners.
is ed working for gary now?
It seems so. Gary told Maria Ed was starting today. Otherwise they could not have shot that silly time wasting scene with Ed and Liam. I doubt any young person today would fall for the old "elbow grease" trick. Indeed I doubt anyone ever did, more of an urban myth, together with, "left handed hammers" and "long stands". Don't think any of the scriptwriters have ever seen a building site never mind been on one.
When Gary bought the builders yard did he also buy the builders flat, or was that sold to someone a while ago? Who lives there now?
The builders yard appears to be very busy, taking deliveries and stacking materials. It must have a fair wage bill each week. Is Gary now a philanthropist?
A bit like the barber shops by me, two/three staff, no customers and one shop having it's second refit.

Barbers shops possibly money laundering, but I don't think Gary is.
Builders do not buy materials to keep it in stock, especially plaster which goes off, if kept too long. They buy it as and when it is needed for a job, but Gary does not seem to have any jobs on the go.

Tonight's count
1. Ronnie and Leanne just happen to walk into Dev's shop at the same time as Debbie is in there.
2. Brody just happens to walk into Roy's Rolls at the same time as Sean and Dylan are in there.
3. The hospital ring about Kevin's collapse just as Abi and Carl are leaning in for a snog.
