Which takes 12 to 14 hours each way from Aberdeen, then allow time to eat, sleep and toilet. Unless she flew from Aberdeen, in which case she might have flown all the way from Leeds or Manchester. These writers are getting more and more lazy.

Is it definite she came back the same day? I think sometimes the way episodes are shown the stories are not necessarily happening all on the same day.... ?

To find the bodies, as parkerman would say a contrivance, or to screw enough money out of Moira to pay for all the sewage spillages in Yorkshire.
How would they get a dredger to the lake, has it suddenly been connected to a canal?
If the stream runs into the lake, would that not dilute the slurry to safer levels. There must be run off from the surrounding land containing fertilizer residue and animal waste so the water must go through a processing plant before it is used in the village, so what was the problem?

I thought she went one day and came back the next so still near 24 hours. Judging the time frame from the other stories running concurrently. I think usually when they do a time shift they do it between episodes.
