Emmerdale killer John Sugden prepares to tie the knot with true love Aaron Dingle next week ? that's if they make it to the altar.

With a slew of secrets on the verge of being uncovered, John is buckling under the pressure of concealing his awful truths.

Tying the knot should be a dream come true, but for gruesome groom John it becomes a living nightmare ? quite literally, as he's plagued by the possibilities of what could go wrong in a series of disturbing dreams.

The fellas' big day plays out across the whole week, each day starting with a bad dream that has its own worst-case scenario?

"Every episode has a different style with potential outcomes to the wedding," explains Oliver Farnworth, who plays John.

"A lot of these are in John's mind until we get to the real event. After the pattern is set on the first day, viewers will get used to the format ? it's really cool."

First up is Nate Robinson's secret fate. With the lake being dredged after John poisoned the village's water supply, which he's framed Mackenzie Boyd for, surely it's only a matter of time before Nate's corpse is discovered and John's world comes tumbling down?

John's first nightmare imagines him arrested for Nate's murder as he and Aaron exchange their vows. Haunted by his accidental slaying, when John wakes up, he plots to do a runner.

As he escapes, John is stopped in his tracks when he receives a love-dovey text from Aaron, reassuring him that nothing can spoil their nuptials.

Soon, news reaches John that the dredging of the lake has been cancelled, giving John further hope he's off the hook, and he decides to stick around. But another curveball is coming his way?

"Aidan, John's ex-lover, is lying in his hospital bed where everyone thought he'd be forever," Oliver reminds us.

"But on the day of the wedding, Aidan's mum Cathleen shows up and reveals to John her son has woken up and he's asking for him. John has been confiding in Aidan all the time he's been comatose. How much of it does he remember?"

John's next ominous vision sees the ceremony interrupted by Aidan's unexpected arrival. Now Aidan is conscious he's a ticking time bomb ? can John stop his past from destroying his future?

"We still don't know exactly what happened to Aidan," muses Oliver.

"Did John engineer his injuries or save him? We also have no idea what Aidan could reveal ? not necessarily what John has imparted to him about recent events, such as what happened to Nate, but what is he going to say about John and Aidan's past?"

Plagued by premonitions, John fears the wedding is cursed. His next nightmare sees Aaron back out of the big day because he knows John has been lying and can't be trusted ? playing into John's fears that his other half will work out what he's hiding.

As if there weren't enough reasons for the wedding to go wrong, there are even more twists and turns in store as John's nightmares take a terrifying turn later in the week, giving the guy even more sleepless nights.

Emmerdale's Sarah Sugden breaks down in Jacob Gallagher's arms next week after she is diagnosed with having the early stages of cervical cancer.

Once Sarah hears that her biopsy results are ready, she feels concerned about what might be waiting for her. Bravely, the mechanic attends Hotten General on her own, but is devastated by the news that follows.

"The consultant explains that she has cervical cancer," our Emmerdale source reveals.

"Luckily, the doctors have caught it in its early stages, but the diagnosis is still terrifying beyond belief. Sarah is only 19 years old, and she had hopes of becoming pregnant soon. It's an unimaginable situation to deal with, particularly at such a young age."

In the consultant's room, Sarah is gifted a glimmer of hope when the medic reveals that it's still possible for her to fulfil her life's dream of carrying a child.

Both relieved and distressed, Sarah leaves the hospital office and heads out into the corridors ? where Jacob finds her while he's on shift.

"Jacob can immediately sense that something isn't right," our insider continues.

"Sarah tries to put on a brave face in front of him, but Jacob knows her like the back of his hand and becomes increasingly concerned for her. He offers all the support he can, before Sarah hits breaking point and reveals her diagnosis.

"As both an ex-lover and friend, as well as trainee doctor, it's a lot for Jacob to come to terms with. He will know the next steps that Sarah will have to go through, while also worrying for her as a friend."

Later in the week, Jacob continues to show his support for Sarah as much as he can, before asking how the doctors came across the cancerous cells.

Not long afterwards, Sarah explains that she wants to have a baby, but she feels let down by Jacob's lukewarm response that quickly turns into bluntness.

Stunned, Sarah listens as her former beau talks through the emotional impact that the death of a mother can have on a child. Will Sarah have sympathy for his attitude ? or will his stone-cold honesty drive a wedge between the two friends?

Later in the week, Jacob refuses to back down and reiterates to Sarah that he thinks it's a selfish move to consider bringing a child into the world, given her condition.

However, Jacob is hit with yet another bombshell piece of information when he learns that he's the only one that knows Sarah is suffering with cancer, and also weighing up IVF.

Will Jacob keep Sarah's revelations under wraps? Or will his concerns lead him to let the cat out of the bag?

Monday

Emmerdale's John Sugden wants to run away before his crimes are exposed

It's Aaron and John's wedding day, but things are far from tickety-boo.

Secret killer John is bricking it because Moira's lake is about to be dredged, meaning it's only a matter of time before Nate Robinson, his victim, is found.

It's his own fault, of course.

The paramedic never meant for Nate to die when he gave him an injection to curb his pain after he got caught up in the barn fire last September.

But die he did and John then had to cover up a murder.

After lobbing Nate's body in the lake, John thought that would be that, and it might have been if John hadn't recently caused a slurry leak at Butlers, which prompted an official enquiry requiring the lake to be emptied.

Terrified the murder and his other list of crimes will surface, John is in meltdown mode as everything crowds in on him.

As his sister Victoria fusses round as they get ready for the wedding, John's plagued by a nightmare and imagines being arrested in the middle of the ceremony.

Deciding he can't hack it, John is throwing some things into a bag when Aaron walks in.

John placates Aaron but as soon as his fianc? has gone, he carries on with the plan to flee.

Hiding out by the lake, John is watching on with his heart in his mouth when suddenly the dredging is cancelled!

With the crisis averted, John decides to go ahead with the wedding only to have another potential problem lobbed at him when Aidan's mum Cathleen tells him Aidan's woken from his coma and is asking for him!

What is that Aidan wants to say? Is John's ex-fianc? about to reveal what really went down between them?

Elsewhere, Ross pushes on with his plan to get his mitts on Lewis' cannabis plants.

Ross Barton comes face to face with Lewis Barton and struggles to navigate Lewis's many questions about their family without revealing the many dark secrets he needs to keep.

Swiping his long-lost brother's keys, he takes him out kayaking, tasking Mack to raid Lewis' place while he's out.

Sarah hears her biopsy results are in. And at Home Farm, Dawn and Joe are thrown when a social worker arrives to follow up on a safeguarding concern.


Tuesday

Emmerdale's Aaron Dingle tails John i

As the wedding day drama continues, John's grappling with another dark fear as Aidan, who recently woke from his coma, wants to see him.

When another nightmare vision washes over him, John imagines the wedding falling apart when his ex barges into the ceremony with something to say.

John is hiding a whole heap of crimes

Back in reality, John reels as Cathleen tells him her son Aidan is making huge progress in his recovery.

When John sneaks off to the hospital, fearful of what Aidan might say, he has no idea Aaron is tailing him.

Irate to find his fianc? visiting his ex on their wedding day, Aaron wants answers…

Sarah's also up at the hospital as her cancer biopsy results are in.

She's desperate to become a mum in spite of having Fanconi anaemia and is horrified when she's told she has cervical cancer.

As she tries to take in the doctor's advice, Sarah latches on to the fact that she still might be able to get pregnant.

On leaving, Sarah runs into her ex, Jacob, who's a medical student.

When Jacob asks if she's OK, Sarah crumbles and finally confides her problems in someone.

Wednesday

Will Emmerdale's Aaron Dingle and secret killer John's wedding begin

Another wedding nightmare vision washes over John who imagines Aaron backing out at the eleventh hour.

Will his worst fear come true? Has Aaron had enough of his fianc?'s moods, issues and baggage? Is he about to jilt John?

As their wedding day row up at the hospital continues, Aaron drives away from John, leaving the secret killer wondering if their future is done for.

In the Woolpack, Aaron's mum Chas and John's sister Victoria are panicking as there's no sign of the grooms and the guests are getting restless.

Can John find the words to win round angry Aaron and persuade him to marry him?

Chas and Vic are relieved when the pair turn up at the pub.

As Aaron and John stand in front of the celebrant, will the ceremony go ahead? Or will one of John's fears come true and ruin everything?

Elsewhere, Lewis has Ross over a barrel as the cannabis stealing saga rumbles on.

Mack has been trapped in Lewis' loft and Lewis is refusing to set him free unless Ross tells him the truth about how their mum Emma died.

Will Ross tell Lewis that it was their aunt Moira who killed unhinged Emma and let her son Jason take the rap?

As Jacob tries to comfort Sarah about her cancer diagnosis, he finds out she's hoping to have IVF and have a baby.

At Butler's Farm, Moira Dingle's fears about Lewis coming into their lives might be about to come true.

Ever since he contacted the farmer's family, wanting to know his relatives and to find out more about his dead mum Emma Barton, who had him adopted, Moira's been panicking.

So far, Ross – who knows that Moira killed his unhinged murderer mother Emma – has managed to fob off Lewis, the brother he never knew he had.

But when Lewis caught Ross and Mack trying to steal his cannabis plants, he finally had some collateral.

As Emmerdale's wedding day drama concludes , will Aaron and John become Mr and Mr?

In the Woolpack, the wedding day saga continues.

As John is hit with another nightmare vision, will this one put paid to the ceremony that's been dangling on a knife's edge all week?

Will Aaron marry the village's secret killer-criminal or will something – or someone – stop the Dingle from making a commitment he'll live to regret?

Outside, as Caleb, Ruby, Cain and Chas take a breather from the event, Kyle arrives on his bike with news from Butler's Farm…

Is his stepmum Moira in trouble? Has Lewis found out the farmer killed his mum Emma all those years ago, and called the police?
