If not, I hope that he becomes a patient who Jacob is assigned to.
But I actually suspect Kim. She's annoyed at Joe because of Dawn. She didn't want him to live there but he ignored her and walked further into her home. I think she made the pact with Caleb and Ruby so that Joe is all hers to take care of. She publicly sticks up for him to divert blame from herself, but I would bet that she hired someone to take care of him.
It bothers me too much when they show weak or foolish Kim. I much prefer the Kim who takes care of her own.
The whole Joe Tate return has been mess if you think about it his whole return was wanted to bring Kim down as soon will died be dropped that plan come on emmerdale don’t take us fans for fools

I never understood his purpose either. Surely Kim saw how conveniently he showed up right before Will took ill, and how he was just standing there looking and not doing anything after Will had his heart attack, almost as if he were intrigued by Will slowly dying. Will also told her that he wasn't being allowed out of a revenge plot. She had to shout at Joe to call 911 because he seemed to be enjoying the scene so much. And in spite of the odd timing of his arrival, his defying her about Dawn, his illegal organ harvesting, her telling him to get out of her house and his walking deeper inside, it made no sense to me. None of the pieces tied together.
I don't like Kim being dumbed down or being made to look week so that a story could be presented as the writers want, characterizations be darned.
So I'm in full agreement, @thestud2k7.

Sometimes it is like they write these tales as a series of short stories which should connect up but do not gel together in a way that makes any real sense. As long as there are regular dramatic points they seem to be happy even if we are not. I cannot beleve Joe is dead as that would bring too many tales to an end. With Joe alive there is still mileage to be had, the old who done it, the hospital bed scenes, Dawn wailing and nashing her teeth and more moody misery scenes with Steph.
If this was Eastenders Mo would be running a book on who did it.
the fall surely would have reopened his kidney wound
that episode needed poirot or miss marple, seemed like a cast from agatha christie

Joe lives! Will we ever be rid of his smug face?
If Joe had been pushed, someone would have had to be strong enough to overpower him to get him anywhere near the window and push him hard enough to break the glass. Although knowing the writers it will probably end up being Clemmie that did it.

I'm kind of glad because I think that it will be interesting to see Jacob's dilemma if responding to a code if Joe is in crisis.
I don't think that Jacob would ever recover if he did go through killing Joe, or withholding treatment, but I think that having considered it and realizing that he is better than that will help him with his grief for Laila.
Take a look at the promo photos versus what we see in the show. They are different shots.
The stills posted make the blood on his cheek look like a little cross, and the broken wood from the window makes it look like he fell on his cross.
What we've seen in the show is different on both counts.
And it irks me to see the image in the stills because Joe was anything but a holy man. He was a monster.
