Emmerdale's grisly plot surrounding Anthony Fox's murder takes another dark twist next week, as Caleb Miligan begins to suspect there's no corpse buried in his makeshift grave.

When tortured Steph Miligan attempts to dig up her slain relative, convinced he's not dead after all, Caleb tries desperately to stop her frenzied actions. But when he realises that there's no way a body could be buried in that particular spot, furious Caleb turns to John Sugden for answers?

"John is a man of mystery and this is the latest clue that you can't always trust what he says," our insider teases.

"Steph's meltdown sets Caleb's mind whirring over whether John told everyone the truth about hiding Anthony's body in a quiet spot in the woods.

"The location doesn't match his story at all ? it's completely undisturbed and he would have needed expensive equipment to dig into the ground. Has he been lying this whole time?"

The drama kicks off after the Miligans receive a bunch of flowers, which appear to have been sent by Anthony. The delivery sends Steph into a complete frenzy as she convinces herself that the vile predator is actually still alive.

Soon, Jai Sharma admits that he was the one who sent the flowers in a bid to get more dirt about what Caleb's hiding. But Jai's left humiliated when Ruby Fox-Miligan reveals the truth about her father sexually abusing her.

Our source adds: "Jai is gobsmacked when Ruby tells him. He'd been determined to dig up dirt to use against Caleb, and never expected that Ruby and Caleb were hiding something so upsetting. Ruby's revelation certainly shuts Jai up for once."

Jai soon backs off, but his actions leave Steph spooked. Soon, Caleb and Ruby find their daughter in the middle of the woods where Anthony is buried, tearing up the earth in a desperate attempt to uncover his rotting corpse ? and prove that he really is dead.

As the troubled family turns to John for answers ? demanding to know if Anthony is even dead ? how will he respond? Is there a chance the vile abuser could still be alive?

Emmerdale's Joe Tate lays his heart on the line next week as he begs Dawn Fletcher to dump her husband Billy for him.

Joe urges Dawn to end all the lies and secrecy so they can become an official couple, leaving her torn over whether she can forgive him or not.

Dawn was horrified last month as Joe made an abrupt departure from the village without bothering to give her any explanation.

Viewers know that Joe was reluctant to leave Dawn behind, but he needed to make a clean break to avoid being caught out for stealing Caleb Miligan's kidney.

In upcoming scenes, Joe takes a major risk by returning to the village to win Dawn back.

Joe confides in Kim Tate about his intentions, insisting that he genuinely loves Dawn and plans to make amends with her.

Kim is uneasy over the implications for Dawn's marriage and her children, knowing that this can't end well for anyone.

Joe later urges Dawn to be honest with herself, claiming that it's obvious she's still in love with him. Dawn knows that Joe is right, but she still isn't sure what to do for the best.

Promising a genuine relationship with no need for further lies or secrecy, Joe encourages Dawn to leave Billy once and for all.

As Dawn wonders what to do, she deliberately avoids Billy and mulls over her decision. She also confides in Manpreet Sharma, still unaware that the local GP is the mystery woman who was exchanging racy messages with Billy recently.

In the end, the moment of truth arrives for Dawn as she meets with Joe to share her decision. Will she make his dreams come true ? or break his heart?

Emmerdale airs these scenes on Monday, April 14, Tuesday, April 15 and Wednesday, April 16 on ITV1 and ITVX.
