If that chain is stopping Bianca reaching the door, there are plenty of things in the lock-up that she could use to bang against it when she hears people passing outside. At least they could have made the chain tight enough to stop her pulling her hand out.

The idea you can use egg boxes for sound proofing is a myth. Egg boxes are to protect eggs from being broken in transit, they do not sound proof, maybe cut down on echo if they cover a hard surface. Anyway if Bianca could find something to reach the door she could scrape them off. What's the other end of the chain fixed to? I find it hard to believe that Reiss foresaw that he would ever need to chain someone up, and had something cemented into the wall or floor for that purpose.
