Neighbours has announced that a new character will soon be joining the soap, as part of a big storyline for Krista Sinclair.

The show's official Instagram account has shared the news that newcomer Sebastian 'Seb' Metcalfe is on his way to Ramsay Street later this year, with actor Rarmian Newton joining the soap in a guest role.

Seb is described as "a face from Krista's past" in his introduction post, with the caption teasing that "his presence is set to send shockwaves through Erinsborough for a long time to come..."

Some of Newton's new co-stars shared their excitement over the announcement, with Leo Tanaka star Tim Kano commenting, "Yeeeeeeah boiiieeee" and Jane Harris actor Annie Jones sharing praise and heart-eyes emojis.

Fans have already begun speculating about who Seb could be, with some suggesting that he might be a sibling of Krista's or even Paul Robinson's long-lost son.

Newton, who has previously starred in Mr Mercedes and Tell Me a Story, also announced the news on his own Instagram Story, writing, "Guys I'm doin it... made it to Ramsay St... this is one of our classic and most beloved TV homes here in Oz.

"So much love and respect for show... it won't look that way though... stay tuned."

Seb's arrival comes shortly after Neighbours confirmed the upcoming return of original character Shane Ramsay, along with the introduction of his son, Max.

"After 10 years, a Ramsay is back on Ramsay Street!" the soap shared. "We're thrilled to announce that Ben Jackson will soon be joining the cast as Max Ramsay."

In a further post, it added that "Shane Ramsay will also be dropping by to visit Erinsborough", with Peter O'Brien "reprising his iconic role".

The new arrivals follow several recent Erinsborough exits, after Toadie, Nell and Hugo Rebecchi all left Ramsay Street behind for a new life in Colac.

Mackenzie Hargreaves and Haz Devkar have also said goodbye, after the pair got married and decided to move to Paris together.

Neighbours is set to air newcomer Sebastian Metcalfe's first scenes as part of the Krista Sinclair plot.

The soap announced last month that the new character would be arriving on Ramsay Street, teasing him as "a face from Krista's past" that will send "shockwaves" across the community.

Plot details around his debut next week have now been unveiled, as Krista decides to take Sebastian in.

In the new scenes, Leo leaves Krista shocked by revealing that the birthday boy who arranged the party at Yorokobi has left him to foot the bill after doing a runner.

Leo develops photos from the party, including one showing the culprit. However, when Krista spots the photo, she hides it from Leo ? and the mystery deepens given Krista has a photo on her phone that proves they're friends.

Krista makes sure Yorokobi is reimbursed, though battles guilt about not telling Leo about her connection to the perpetrator. Melanie notices that something isn't right and manages to overhear Krista on the phone trying to track down "Sebastian".

Melanie realises who it is, remembering that Sebastian was responsible for Krista being ejected from her boarding school. However, Krista sees him as her oldest friend, and believes that she has helped to encourage his wild behaviour over the years.

Krista sees the runner incident as his way of trying to reconnect with her, and Sebastian later appears at her apartment, asking Krista if she can put him up for a while. Melanie suggests she reject the request, though Krista decides to put friendship first and says she will always be there for him.

While Krista mulls how she will tell Leo about the situation, Leo later walks into the apartment to find Sebastian in the shower. Krista apologises amid her guilt and tries to explain, admitting she's trying to help Sebastian in a tough situation.

Fallon has her own complicated backstory with Sebastian, as they were once in a relationship, and she even asked him to marry her. Sebastian responded by ghosting Fallon without explanation.

Before leaving for Sydney, Sebastian catches up with Fallon and admits that he developed feelings for Krista during their relationship. Ultimately, he realised that he wasn't in love with Fallon and decided to cut all contact with her.

As Sebastian leaves for Sydney, Fallon is upset and wonders what part Krista played in the breakdown of her relationship. Could this drive a wedge between the sisters?
