how did tom get the axe out of his back

If he jammed the shaft of the axe against something and walked forward he could pull it out. But pulling it out would let more blood out, but we did not see much when Liam rolled him over. I am surprised that he could walk, I would have thought an axe in the back would have chopped through nerves to his legs.

Will Sam also be in trouble? I believe shotguns are mean to be stored, unloaded, in a locked metal cabinet. Sam did not remove the cartridges, nor did he lock the cabinet.

Perhaps it wasn't loaded. Did Belle ever check it ?

They would have needed to wipe the gun clean, Sam to put his prints all over it and then have Tom handle it again.
