With all these missing dogs, I am thinking it is a matter of costs. They cannot afford to pay for dogs just to be sitting on the sofa, so only pay when they are needed for a story. All the current dogs are small so could be sitting quietly in a corner unnoticed until needed. Which was not the case with Schmeichel, who was hardly invisible.

The original David, the dog, died and was replaced.

Pity it was just the poor dog
