Emmerdale's Ryan Stocks is surprised by the return of a familiar face next week.

Ryan finds himself with an admirer when his old friend and love interest Gail, who was last seen in 2019, pays another visit to the village.

Gail's unexpected arrival initially leaves Ryan stunned.

Ryan has a healthy scepticism over Gail's motives for reappearing in his life after a four-year absence. However, Gail's charm quickly manages to win Ryan over.

The next day, Ryan and Gail are both embarrassed when Charity Dingle catches them together.

It's obvious to Charity that her son has spent the night with Gail. With Charity clearly amused by the situation, it seems that she's ready to forgive Ryan for his role in concealing Mackenzie Boyd's infidelity secret.

Gail, played Rachael Gill-Davis, appeared briefly in Emmerdale in February 2019.

In the episode, Charity was excited by the possibility of a romantic connection between Gail and Ryan, and she offered the newcomer lunch on the house at The Woolpack.

Gail went on to kiss Ryan, but he was mortified as he was more interested in Dawn at the time.

Ryan's new romantic twist comes as Charity's own relationship remains on the rocks. She dumped Mackenzie for his cheating last week and has stuck by her decision in subsequent episodes.

Emma Atkins, who plays Charity, recently explained: "Charity has such issues with trust after what she's been through as a teenager. I think that's going to be exacerbated by the fact that she took Chloe under her wing.

"Charity can almost see a reflection of herself in this young teenage girl being pregnant. I think she's going to be asking: 'Why did nobody tell me?'

"I think it'll be a shock and Charity will probably close down. She'll build her wall up, like she does when she feels betrayed."

Emmerdale star Rachael Gill-Davis will be leaving the soap six years after making her debut as Gail Loman.

The star first appeared on the ITV show back in 2019 as Gail was introduced as the girlfriend of Ryan Stocks, before making a surprise comeback in 2023 as the character returned for a main stint in the Dales.

Now nearly two years on from her re-introduction, The Sun has reported that Gill-Davis will ?amicably? depart the soap in the coming months, with Gail?s exit scenes set to air later in the year.

The publication also claims that the "door has been left open" for a potential return in the future. An Emmerdale spokesperson declined to comment to Digital Spy.

Gill-Davis?s impending exit comes after the ITV soap said goodbye to Leyla Harding, Amy Wyatt and Suzy Merton after the trio perished following the devastating limousine crash, which saw the vehicle plummet into an icy lake.

Roxy Shahidi, who debuted as Leyla in 2008, recently spoke about her shock departure, sharing: ?When I first found out, I was very shocked. I had been in the show for a long time and I wasn?t expecting this news.

?Emmerdale becomes a fabric of your existence to a huge degree. It?s not just about the joy of the work, it?s the joy of the people and community. There are times when you have a big story where you will spend more time with your work family than you do at home.

Emmerdale has shared a first look and some details on the start of Gail Loman's exit storyline.

It was announced last month that Rachael Gill-Davis will be leaving the ITV soap six years after making her debut as Gail, with her final scenes set to air later in the year.

Her exit storyline will start to take shape in upcoming scenes, as a couples' game takes place at Mandy's salon.

Gail starts getting frustrated by how things go as she plays the game with Ryan ? with a photo from the episode showing shocked looks on both Mandy and Paddy's faces as Ryan appears to get an answer about his girlfriend wrong.

Clearly hurt, Gail tells Ryan that she doesn't think they're in love anymore.

Ryan is taken aback by this statement and begs her not to leave him, but Gail is left feeling torn. What will she decide to do?

"What should be a fun time at the salon turns sour very quickly for Gail and Ryan," our Emmerdale source shares.

"Ryan had no idea that Gail was feeling this way and it may already be too late for him to fix things between them.

"At one point the couple seemed like they were on a great path, but that's all changed now..."
