Seven last night unveiled a new Home & Away promo following the departure of Irene (Lynne McGranger).

"Welcome home to Summer Bay" teases what's still to come in 2025: romance, laughter, celebration, tears, high-speed chases, and heart-stopping tragedy that will rock the Bay forever. For some, it's the end of the line.

Summer Bay's wedding of the year is also just around the corner, as Cash (Nicholas Cartwright) and Eden (Stephanie Panozzo) prepare to say 'I do' in a beautiful and emotionally charged ceremony surrounded by their closest friends and family.

Meanwhile Seven's Director of Content, Scripted, Julie McGauran, said: "Viewers have given Irene the perfect send off from Home and Away, with her final farewell our highest rated episode this year, and thousands of fans sending in messages for Lynne as part of our 'Goodbye Irene' campaign.

"For 33 years, Lynne brought warmth, wit and wisdom to Summer Bay as Irene Roberts, and left a lasting mark on Australian pop culture with her iconic catchphrases and charm. We wish Lynne all the best for the future and thank her for the incredible impact she's had on our beloved show."

Lynne McGranger said: "After almost 33 years in my dream role and working every day with people who I love, respect and whom I now consider family, it's bittersweet to be closing the chapter on what has been the best and longest gig of my life.

"I am forever grateful to the best production crew in the world and to our genius writers - whose doors are always open - for everything they have done for Irene over the past 33-odd years, and I am so proud of the storyline which will see Irene out of the Bay. Above all, a massive, heartfelt thank you to the fans for your continued love and support."

A record for the year in terms of viewers and an episode not worthy of Irene/Lynne?s legacy. It fell flat. Not enough moments between Irene and Alf/Marilyn, John (as great as Shane is) being a total child, and Justin given way too much screen time. I?m no Leah fan but Ada really knocked it out of the park and her scenes with Irene throughout the whole exit storyline were a true highlight.

Channel 7 and Home and Away bosses really had a chance of luring viewers back permanently with this storyline and they blew it. It was far too rushed with misplaced focus and I really hope someone else is brought in to steer the show (replacing Lucy Addario who is clearly lacking the inspiration), especially when it comes to Alf?s inevitable farewell.
