Anna Nicole Smith has died aged 39
The actress Anna Nicole Smith has died in Florida at the age of 39.
The former Playboy Playmate and billionaire's widow collapsed in a hotel room and died later, according to her lawyer.
"I can confirm that she is deceased. It's as shocking to me as to you guys," Ms Smith's lawyer, Ronald Rale, told reporters.
"I don't know anything further. (Her lawyer and husband) Howard (K. Stern) obviously is speechless and grieving."
She was found in her hotel room and given CPR by fire and rescue workers, said Michael Bloom, president of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
Ms Smith's nurse called hotel workers at the hotel at 1.38pm local time and security went to the hotel room, hotel officials added.
Emergency staff arrived minutes later and she was taken to the Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood at 2:10pm.
Ms Smith had fascinated the tabloid media even before she became Playboy's playmate of the year in 1993.
Readers were fascinated by her good looks, her marriage to an elderly billionaire and subsequent court fight over his estate and, last year, the sudden death of her 20-year-old son, Daniel Smith.
Daniel was the son of Anna Nicole and Bill Smith, who married in 1985 and divorced two years later.
Police: No Illegal Drugs Found in Anna's Room
Only prescription -- and not illegal drugs -- were found during an investigation of Anna Nicole Smith's room at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel, this according to Seminole Police Chief Charlie Tiger.
At a press conference outside the Broward County Medical Examiner's office, Tiger revealed that "No evidence has been revealed to suggest that a crime has occurred," and that sworn statements were taken from everyone involved.
While authorities were unable to identify an official cause of death, Broward County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Joshua Perper suggested that the death might be due to either natural causes, medication, or a combination of natural causes and medication.
Perper was able to rule out several speculated causes of death, such as blunt force trauma, gunshot wounds or asphyxia, meaning she did not suffocate to death on her own vomit.
Perper revealed that a small amount of blood was found in Anna's stomach, which he says is a result of the terminal shock Smith experienced before she died. He also said that no pills or tablets were found in her stomach.
Perper also acknowledged the need for Anna's DNA (due to the ongoing paternity dispute) and said a "large sample" was taken.
According to Perper, an official cause of death would be determined in 3 to 5 weeks.
Robbie enters rehab on birthday
Pop singer Robbie Williams has been admitted into a rehab clinic in the US on his 33rd birthday, to be treated for a dependency on prescription drugs.
It is not the first time the British star has entered rehab, having become addicted to drugs and alcohol after he left Take That in 1995.
He said later that his condition was so bad that Sir Elton John "kidnapped" him and made him seek treatment.
In September, his Asian tour was called off because of stress and exhaustion.
The Los Angeles-based performer was to have visited Shanghai, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, Mumbai (Bombay) and Bangalore in November.
A spokesman said at the time that to have performed in those cities after honouring European and South American commitments would have been "asking too much".
'Personal issues'
Speaking to BBC Radio Stoke - based in Williams' home town - his mother, Jan, said it was a "gift" for her that he was seeking treatment.
"He's a very public figure and all the media attention at the moment is added pressure on him," she said.
"I shall be going across at some stage but when you're in rehab, it's a programme for the person themselves, and they have to address their own personal issues," she added.
Last year, the singer spoke frankly of his experience with depression in a BBC documentary on bipolar disorder with Stephen Fry.
In the interview, he admitted taking antidepressants and that his depression had made him "stop going out".
"I'd get up in front of 40,000 people and say 'look at me, I'm ace'", he said.
"Then as soon as I got off stage, I'd get in the tour coach and go back to my bedroom and pull the duvet over my eyes."
In another TV interview, broadcast in 2004, Williams said he only gave up drugs and alcohol because they made him too fat.
He said his addiction made him "blow up to the size of a small aircraft hangar".
Williams' former Take That bandmates are currently enjoying a hugely successful comeback, including a number one single and album, and a sell-out UK tour.
Their song Patience is expected to win best single at the Brit Awards ceremony, which takes place in London on Wednesday.
But this is the first time in several years that Williams has failed to be in the running for the best male or best album categories.
Anna Nicole had left her estate to deceased son
Deceased former Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith left her entire estate to her dead son, excluding any other heir from inheritance, it has emerged.
Daniel Smith died last year, aged 20, just three days after Anna Nicole gave birth to her daughter, Dannielynn.
The 2001 will said Smith's long-term companion Howard Stern should hold her estate in trust for Daniel in the event of her death.
Smith, the widow of Texas oil tycoon J Howard Marshall II, died last week.
"I have intentionally omitted to provide for my spouse and other heirs, including future spouses and children and other descendants now living and those hereafter born or adopted," Smith said in the will, under her real name of Vickie Lynn Marshall.
Correspondents say the publication of the will has now raised further questions about the future of Smith's estate.
Mr Stern and two other men claim to have fathered Dannielynn.
The lawyer for Smith's estranged mother, Virgie Arthur, said the will was not filed in any court, so it is not valid.
Mysterious death
Smith was found unconscious in a hotel room in Florida last week and could not be resuscitated.
An initial post-mortem examination failed to find what caused her death.
But medical examiner Joseph Perper has not ruled out an overdose as a cause, and is waiting for the results of chemical analysis.
A US judge has ordered her body to be kept until a hearing into the paternity of Dannielynn later this month.
Smith married Marshall in 1994 when she was 26 and he was 89. He died a year later.
She spent years in legal battles with Marshall's son for a share of his estate, the Supreme Court ruling in 2006 that she could pursue her case in federal court.
Hugh Grant and Jemima Khan split
British actor Hugh Grant and his girlfriend Jemima Khan have split up after almost three years together.
Grant's publicist Robert Garlock said the split was amicable and the decision had been taken in the last few days.
Grant, 46, and Khan, 33, the daughter of Sir James Goldsmith, began dating after the end of her marriage to former Pakistani cricketer Imran Khan.
Music and Lyrics, Grant's latest film, which also stars Drew Barrymore, topped the UK box office chart this week.
The split comes days after Grant and Khan, who has two children, attended US and UK premieres of the film.
A spokesman for Grant and Khan said: "It is an entirely amicable split but both regard it as a private matter and will not be making any further statements."
Grant, who shot to fame in romantic comedies including Four Weddings and a Funeral and Notting Hill, has never been married.
He previously had a long-standing relationship with actress and model Elizabeth Hurley.
Kelly Osbourne cries over HIV diagnosis
Kelly Osbourne has revealed that a member of her family is HIV positive.
The 22-year-old daughter of Ozzy and Sharon fought back tears as she told the crowd at a benefit gig for HIV support charity Body & Soul that a member of her family has been touched by the illness.
She told the crowd at London's Koko night club: "This is a subject that is very close to my heart because I have a family member who has been diagnosed HIV positive."
She did not reveal which member of her family has been diagnosed with the virus.
Kerry Katona has baby girl early
Former singer Kerry Katona has given birth to a baby girl a month early - and just a week after getting married.
The former Atomic Kitten star and her husband Mark Croft, who tied the knot in Gretna Green on Valentine's Day, have named the child Heidi Elizabeth.
"The baby was a little early but that wasn't too much of a surprise," Katona's spokesman Max Clifford said.
Katona, 26, already has two daughters - Molly, five, and Lilly Sue, four, by former husband Brian McFadden.
The couple split up in 2004, and their divorce was recently finalised. Katona and Croft met a year ago and he proposed after three weeks.
Speaking about her pregnancy, the I'm A Celebrity winner admitted she had not enjoyed the experience this time around.
"It's been the worst pregnancy ever," she said.
"It's made me want to have my tubes tied, get the coil, go on the pill, get the injection and get Mark the snip - that's how much I've hated it."
Britney Spears 'back into rehab'
Pop star Britney Spears is back in rehab, days after shaving her head, People magazine and TMZ.com report.
Spears checked into an unnamed facility at the request of her mother and other family members, the reports said.
"We ask that the media respect her privacy as well as those of her family and friends," People quoted her manager Larry Rudolph as saying.
Spears was spotted by fans without her hair after shaving it off in a Los Angeles hair salon on Friday.
She reportedly spent one day in a rehabilitation centre in the Caribbean last week.
Drastic cut
Since splitting with husband Kevin Federline last year, Spears has been making headlines with her partying lifestyle.
People's website quoted a statement by Spears' management, which said: "Britney Spears has voluntarily checked herself into an undisclosed rehab facility today."
Potential bidders can view Spears' hair on the salon's website
Spears had her drastic haircut at Esther's Hair Studio in Tarzana, west of Los Angeles, on Friday, but was later seen wearing a blonde wig.
The salon has set up a website to auction the hair for more than $1m (£512,500).
A spokeswoman for the website said they had already received a number of bids.
"We have received many offers and we are currently in the process of separating the real ones from the bogus ones," she told the BBC News website.
The website, which offers bidders an "opportunity of a lifetime", says a portion of the proceeds will be donated to various unnamed charities.
As well as the hair - which is pictured on the website - the winning bidder will also get the hair clippers Spears used, a blue lighter she left at the salon and the can of Red Bull she was drinking at the time.
Spears 'leaves rehab after a day'
Britney Spears has checked out of rehab after just one day for the second time in a week, according to US reports.
The shaven-headed singer left a treatment centre in Malibu, California, on Wednesday, TMZ.com and TV shows Entertainment Tonight and Extra said.
The previous day her manager Larry Rudolph said Spears had checked into rehab voluntarily.
She reportedly spent just 24 hours in a facility in Antigua last week before shaving her head in front of onlookers.
Rudolph had asked for privacy while she underwent this latest round of treatment.

A spokesman for the public relations agency that handles the Malibu treatment centre said he had no comment and would not confirm that she had been there or that she had left.

A lawyer for estranged husband Kevin Federline earlier confirmed that Spears and Federline would continue to share custody of 5-month-old Jayden James and 17-month-old Sean Preston this month, following terms of a January custody agreement.
I'm pregnant - Charlotte Church
Singer and TV presenter Charlotte Church is pregnant, she has confirmed.
The 21-year-old said she and her rugby star boyfriend Gavin Henson were "delighted".
The Voice of an Angel, who found fame as a child star, announced the news on her own website following recent speculation that the star was expecting her first baby.
The statement, from Church's management, said: "Charlotte has asked us to bring you the news exclusively via CharlotteChurch.com that she is pregnant.
"For reasons of privacy, Charlotte has chosen not to comment on this matter, other than to confirm that she and her boyfriend, Gavin Henson, are delighted.
"In an ideal world, we would not have made this announcement so early in the pregnancy.
"However, due to recent speculation and persistent questions from the media about this most private of matters, Charlotte felt she had no choice other than to go public and she was keen to ensure that her fans had the opportunity to read the truth here first."
Church settled down with the Welsh rugby star after a string of doomed relationships.
She recently said she wanted to marry Henson, saying: "If Gavin got me an engagement ring, I would definitely say `yes'.
"Gav is the one, he is my fella and I want to have his children. I know we've only been together for two years but we've lived together for a year-and-a-half.
"We've both got fantastic careers and the bottom line is we love being in each other's company."
Johnny's bedside vigil for daughter
Johnny Depp's seven-year-old daughter is seriously ill in a British hospital, according to reports.
The Hollywood star has been filming Sweeney Todd at Pinewood Studios with Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman and director Tim Burton.
It is claimed Lily-Rose was rushed to hospital over a week ago.
Johnny and his partner Vanessa Paradis are said to be with their daughter round the clock.
A newspaper claims to know Lily-Rose's condition but is keeping the details secret to protect the family's privacy.
