McLaren pulls out of jungle show
Former Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren has pulled out of the new reality TV series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!
"He flew 5,000 miles to take part but on the day they were due to go into the jungle he changed his mind," said a spokeswoman for the ITV1 show.
It is not clear why McLaren decided to pull out at the last minute.
Other contestants include former Catatonia singer Cerys Matthews. The first show airs on Monday.
Former Hollyoaks actress Gemma Atkinson and Jason Brown, who used to be in boy band Five, are favourites to win the series.
'Extreme trepidation'
The show will go on with nine contestants instead of the usual 10.
But the news will be a blow to producers - McLaren was arguably the biggest name on the show.
On the prospect of being faced with his worst fear in the jungle - snakes - McLaren said before flying to Australia: "I should imagine I'm going to act with extreme trepidation."
He added all he knew about the series was that "one of my ex-Sex Pistols, Johnny Rotten, was on the show once upon a time".
John Lydon, aka Johnny Rotten, quit the show when he took part in 2004.
The other contestants are ex-EastEnders actor Marc Bannerman, Changing Rooms' Anna Ryder Richardson, PR guru Lynne Franks, 1970s supermodel Janice Dickinson, football pundit Rodney Marsh and chef John Burton Race.
'I'm A Celeb...' stars split into two camps
This year's I'm A Celebrity... contestants have been split into two competing camps.
Ant and Dec revealed to the celebrities that they will be going head to head in Bushtucker Trials in order to win food for their group.
The two teams are called Croc Creek and Snake Rock.
Snake Rock contains Janice Dickinson, Jason 'J' Brown, Gemma Atkinson and Lynne Franks. The team has only four members after Malcom McClaren pulled out of the show at the last minute.
Team Croc Creek features Rodney Marsh, Anna Ryder Richardson, Marc Bannerman, Cerys Matthews and John Burton Race.
After Croc Creek were told they would be competing against the other four celebrities, singer Cerys Matthews responded: "I love a challenge, I'm really excited. I'm really happy in a team together, I'm really happy with everyone even though I haven't met them before.
"I want to know who the other team is and will we get to watch them squirm like we will be doing?"
Pondering their team name, chef John Burton Race commented: "Do you think that means there'll be crocodiles there? Because I really don't like crocodiles."
Croc Creek team bungee into camp
Team Croc Creek have bungee jumped into their campsite on I'm A Celebrity.
Cerys Matthews, Anna Ryder Richardson, John Burton Race and Marc Bannerman all took a 1,000 ft drop from a helicopter into the jungle.
Fellow Croc Creek member Rodney Marsh had to cancel his bungee jump due to poor weather conditions.
Ryder Richardson was the most terrified over the experience, crying before and after the jump.
After watching rock star Matthews leap from the plane, she said: "I'm not going to like it, especially when you walk out before you jump. I wish I hadn't seen someone jump.
"I wish I'd just done it. I need to just go and do it now."
After she completed the jump, she was hugged by her teammates on the ground and said: "That was horrible, it was so horrible. I can't stand, my legs are like jelly. It was the most horrible thing, my legs have gone wobbly.
"I said I wasn't going to cry but that was the most horrible thing ever. I am shaking. Why did I go upside down? I need a cigarette.
"It was the most revolting, horrible experience of my life. If they said to me now, 'you won't eat for the whole of the time you're in the jungle unless you do that again', I wouldn't."
Former soap star Marc Bannerman, who was the first to jump from the plane, commented: "That was mad. Totally and utterly bloody stupid. I have never experienced that rush in my life ever. I'm so proud of myself.
"It's bloody stupid. I kept thinking, 'when is this drop going to end?' The trees looked like dots.
"It was probably the most frightening thing I have ever done. I thought I was a speed freak but the g-forces when you jump out of there, and I jumped then shut my eyes and that was horrible."
Team Snake Rock kayak into 'I'm A Celeb...'
Team Snake Rock have kayaked together into their campsite on this year's I'm A Celebrity....
Jason 'J' Brown, Gemma Atkinson, Janice Dickinson and Lynne Franks were forced to use a boat together to cross a lake to their new home.
While getting in the kayak, pop singer J warned: "No sudden movements," while Dickinson joked: "It's creatures of the black lagoon."
The supermodel added: "My **** is wet, we're hungry, there's lots of danger out here."
After the group negotiated the lake, PR guru Lynne praised J and Gemma but ignored Dickinson.
Dickinson responded: "What about me? Jesus Christ, you don't like me because I'm the alpha female."
Speaking about the rivalry between Dickinson and Franks, J told the cameras: "I think the women are going to do fine.
"There's a bit of a thing going on at the moment between two of the ladies. I think they've got to find their balance between themselves and each other but I think we'll all do well."
Atkinson added: "There's a bit of tension between Janice and Lynne - I think it's because they're both very alpha female."
****
I hope we're not going to have another Jan this year with Janice. I can't stand whiny people.
Katie Hopkins joins 'I'm A Celeb...' camp
The Apprentice contestant Katie Hopkins has joined team Snake Rock in the jungle.
Hopkins was seen on the show's live feed at 7.25am today, heading into the camp with Gemma Atkinson after helping her with the chest challenge.
An ITV spokesperson confirmed to DS that the reality star had replaced Malcolm McClaren on the show, explaining that Hopkins had not entered with the other celebrities as the producers needed time to prepare her.
"We have to obviously prepare people to go in," she explained. "They have to get their health checks and briefings. That's the only reason. Also it's quite nice to just suddenly join another camp."
Talking about the new camp dynamic, she added: "Poor old J has four women jabbering at him now in the camp. Poor boy."
Lynne and Janice make up after rows
Lynne Franks and Janice Dickinson have made up after arguing during their first night on I'm A Celebrity....
Lynne initiated a reconciliatory hug after her fellow contestant compared her to a teacher.
Janice greeted her in the morning, saying: "How you doing, Lynneski? You’re doing well, I’m very impressed with all of your knowledge about everything, you know. You’re a sage, you’re the sage of the group, you’re a spiritual healer.”
She then admired Lynne's necklace and complimented her legs. When Lynne said: “I don’t know about that, [I've got] healthy legs”, Janice responded: "Can’t you just say, ‘thank you Janice?’.”
Lynne said: “Thank you Janice and thank you, God. They are healthy, strong legs.”
The former model then likened Lynne to a teacher and herself to a "humble student", after which the pair cemented their truce with a hug.
Janice said: “We’re alright. Feel the love,” while Lynne added: "Love, baby, love.”
When Janice later claimed to be shy, Lynne told her: “You may not believe this, but I say the same thing and I mean it too. Sometimes those of us who are very out there, the act becomes a reality, but when you have got that thing where you’re always.... It often hides insecurities.”
Janice threatens to stab Lynne over row
I'm A Celebrity... contestant Janice Dickinson has threatened to "stab" Lynne Franks in a row over cooking dinner.
She also joked that she would steal her fellow contestant's bed because it looked more inviting than her own.
Earlier, the pair had bickered after Lynne read out the contents of their evening meal of fish, vegetables, mushrooms and fruit and suggested they save some for the following evening as it was already quite late.
Janice responded: “I don’t mind you suggesting things, Lynne, but can I have an opinion over here about what I stick in my gob?” She then called Lynne a "freak" when the latter suggested that they keep back some fruit and veg.
As they were cooking, Lynne criticised Janice's method of putting vegetables into the pot, saying: "I don’t think I have ever seen cooking like that. I don’t think that’s the way to do it, but do what you want.” She then added: "They haven’t even been washed”, going on to accuse Janice of throwing in the veg without asking anyone else what they wanted.
When Janice told her to "knock off the remarks”, she snapped: "I don’t give a s**t”, prompting the former model to call her a "shrew".
Janice later joked to Jason 'J' Brown: “We’ve got bed envy. Look at your two beds, they are really dry and comfortable. I’m going to stab her [Lynne] in the middle of the night and take hers. You don’t think I’m kidding, I’ll eat her tits. I’ll fry up those big old boobs.”
A shocked J responded: “You two have got to have a fight and sort it out. You’re both going at each other and winding each other up.”
Croc Creek: "We're going to war"
Croc Creek have vowed to go to war after being beaten in two challenges by the opposing team.
John, Anna, Cerys, Rodney and Marc found themselves hungry after losing both the day's Bushtucker Trial and the Celebrity Chest.
Talking about the chest challenge, Anna said: “It was a nightmare. We did okay and then we went wrong again. This is turning into absolute gladiators, this is full on war.”
Marc agreed: “It’s got to be [war] tomorrow. There’s no messing about.”
When Cerys said she was not competitive, Rodney told her: "If we don’t pick up we’re going to get trashed. Because they are so pumped.”
John then gave the team a pep talk and criticised the others for offering to share their food with Snake Rock the previous night.
He said: ”They wouldn’t give us half. Who said give them half? You’ve got to have a vengeful spirit. We’re here making tea and sunbathing while they are out there learning how to kill it. They are going to win if we don't cop up. It is the end of the team then.”
But Cerys remained unconvinced, saying: “I just don't like all that kind of thing. I just don't like Amazonians when we were having such a lovely time."
Marc then turned his attention to the new arrival, saying: “This Katie Hopkins - she’s not someone we want against us really. We’re at Butlins and they’re all out guerrilla warfare! I’ve said about the other team, they can’t possibly have what we have here. Their spirits must be damp but that’s obviously not the case at all. They’re going to war.”
Katie brands press portrayal "savage"
Katie Hopkins has described the media's reaction to her after The Apprentice as "savage".
When Janice quizzed her about her job as the pair got to know each other, she explained: “It’s more like individual businesses, just helping them perform better, but a little bit of what I do is just a bit of presenting off the back of this show in the UK - The Apprentice.”
Talking about the programme, she said: “I enjoyed it at the time. I thought I would come out of it looking okay, but the reality was I came out of it looking like a bit of a bitch - well, that might be an understatement.”
Janice said: “You make me laugh... Seeing as I’m, like, the reigning queen of that title - but I mean, they have one on every Apprentice.”
Katie told her: “Yeah, and I don’t know how much of a bitch anybody ever is, really.”
Janice reassured her that there would be people who liked her in the outside world, but she replied: “Normally I’m liked, but off the back of this, that thing was savage. Biggest bitch in Britain - all that stuff."
She added: "I don’t think personally that’s what I’m like, but I did say some nasty things so, you know.”
“So what? You should say what you think,” said an approving Janice.

That last line from Janice is class :rotfl:
Grimes: I want to join Hopkins in jungle
Christina Grimes has said that she would like to join Katie Hopkins on I'm A Celebrity....
The reality TV star claims that she still hasn't forgiven Hopkins for their rows on The Apprentice.
Speaking on GMTV, Grimes said: "We’ve still got an argument to settle, me and Katie…She’s wished me dead!
"I’d like to go in there for a couple of days and really sort her out. I’d have her. I’d absolutely put her in her place."
Grimes added: "She is the biggest bitch from hell."
Talking about what it would be like to live with Hopkins in the jungle, she commented: "She’s just like a puppy or a dog. She just needs to know who’s boss. They make a few messes on the floor and you need to rub their nose in it, you teach them to shut up when you tell them to shut up, a few yanks on the leash and I’m sure she’d be sitting and begging quite well."
Ten Things You Never Knew About Janice Dickinson
Bold, brash and in-your-face, Janice Dickinson erupted onto our screens in I'm A Celebrity... on Monday and is already threatening to stab fellow contestants and eat their boobs. She calls herself "the world's first supermodel" after gracing the cover of thousands of magazines in the '70s and was a modelling wildchild when Naomi Campbell was still hacking the hair off her Girl's World. She is now an Aids activist, reality TV regular, agent, actor, photographer and writer of two memoirs, not to mention being supple enough to wrap her legs around her neck. Phew! Read on to discover ten eye-popping facts about the woman who'll have us screaming at our tellies for the next two weeks.
1. Janice was born in Brooklyn, New York, to an abusive Belarusian father and a drug-addict half-Polish mother.
2. Janice fancied being a photojournalist as a child and now lists photographer among her many accomplishments. She has pointed her camera in the direction of such celebs as Angelina Jolie, Naomi Campbell, Sharon Stone and late soul icon James Brown.
3. Janice claims she was partly to blame for her dad's demise because she tossed his heart medication out of the car window on his way to hospital before he died. "Maybe I wanted to kill the abuser," she suggests.
4. Janice has been divorced three times. She has a 20-year-old son, Nathan, with her third husband and a 13-year-old daughter, Savannah, from another relationship.
5. Janice was betrothed to a certain Sylvester Stallone for six months in 1994. He sent her packing after finding out that Savannah was not his flesh and blood, later describing his romance with her as “like hanging in Satan’s armpit”. Mmm, we'll take your word for it on that one if you don't mind, Sly.
6. Janice vowed to always make time for her legions of fans after being snubbed by Sir Sean Connery at the age of 19. She recalls: "I asked for his autograph and he said: 'No, don't bother me right now, I'm sunbathing.' I thought to myself 'you mother*********, who the ******* do you think you are?'"
7. Janice's 1000-plus conquests include Liam Neeson, who allegedly has "the biggest penis of any man alive", and Mick Jagger, whom she likened to "making out with a sea bass". We know which description most men would prefer...
8. While woozy from her drugs and booze lifestyle, Janice fell off a catwalk into the lap of Hollywood legend Sophia Loren.
9. Janice is not a fan of the size-zero debate. She insists: "Models are supposed to be thin. They're not supposed to eat." Surely not a controversial opinion falling from Janice's lips? We wouldn't believe it if we hadn't read it with our own eyes.
10. Janice has her eye on Sir Paul McCartney. She gushes: “He was my favourite Beatle and I fell for him years ago. I’ve contacted him after seeing what he’s gone through with Heather Mills. She’s a fool.” Talk about out of the frying pan and into the fire. Run, Sir Paul, run!
Two 'I'm A Celeb' camps become one
The two I'm A Celebrity... tribes have been told that they are to become one.
Anna read out a laminate to Croc Creek, informing them that Snake Rock’s celebrities would soon be joining them permanently.
However, John was unimpressed with the news, telling the others: “They’re not having my sodding bed. Where are all the beds going to go? I’m going to have to put up with all the people I don’t like. I’m completely not happy about merging with the other team, especially the snakes after what they did yesterday. They’re going to be giving it large.”
Anna was also concerned about accommodating five extra people in the camp. She said: “We’d better protect our beds. All of a sudden five people are going to move into our home. It’s quite cramped already. To have another five in here is almost impossible to visualise.”
An equally-annoyed Marc commented: “The snakes are going to slither in and they’re going to want to mark their territory. I’m not going to be happy.”
Cerys added: “I won’t like it if they start to boss me around.”
Football pundit Rodney expressed his disgust by mooning in the Bush Telegraph, saying: "They’ll change the dynamic of our relationship. That’s for you, Snake Rock - from our camp to your camp.”
The news went down just as badly in the rival team, with Lynne being the most verbal about the impending changes.
She moaned: “They are going to have to behave because I’m not taking any ******* from them at all. If they try to push us around, act chauvinistic [or] creepy in any way at all, they are going to be in a huge amount of trouble. We’ve got a nice vibe going and the men sound awful. I’m going to have to wash in front of the guys. And there’s only one toilet between all of us.”
Gemma said: “It’s like the first day of school. I hope they’re alright. I don’t want no scrapping.”
Katie causes stir in 'I'm A Celeb' camps
New arrival Katie Hopkins has been the topic of conversation in both camps on I'm A Celebrity... .
In Croc Creek, Cerys said, “I can’t wait to meet this lady", while Anna added: “She’s not awful. She’s a very driven woman.”
Marc intervened: “There’s nothing wrong with being driven, but you work over people. And you need it in that world.”
Later, Anna told the Bush Telegraph: “I’m not like that. I’m a designer. I design pushchairs and I’m going to look after animals, and this lady has thousands of people probably in a company and that’s different to me, but that doesn’t mean we won’t get on.”
But the forthcoming merging of both camps was causing concern in Croc Creek, with John predicting: "She’s going to say ‘I’m the leader of the pack. I’ve had four and now I’ve got nine’. That’s what she’ll try to do.”
Meanwhile, Katie’s arrival in Snake Rock also seemed to have ruffled some feathers. When she told Lynne that she had been at Sandhurst, the PR expert told her: “You’re not at Sandhurst now.”
She then picked Katie up on her "masculine language", saying: "Mate is such a mannish expression. I don’t want to be a man. I have my own language too, more feminine endearments. I’d probably call you sweetheart or Katie. One of the problems women have in this world is that language is so masculine.”
They also disagreed on the corporate world, with Katie commenting: “I think you and I would make each other uncomfortable in our business lives. That is the reality.”
She later said of her fellow contestant: “Oh my good God. So if there was left and right of a spectrum, Lynne is left and I am right. I really think that anyone who talks about femininity, but doesn’t really respect themselves in terms of keeping themselves fit and healthy… it’s a juxtaposition of what she’s saying. I’d rather be me."
Janice devastated after losing Trial
Janice was devastated after losing the latest Bushtucker Trial to John.
When the pair finished their Sushi Train of Pain trial, he declared: “Her performance was pathetic.”
A tearful Janice said she was disappointed in herself and now had to go back to Snake Rock with her tail between her legs. "I just couldn’t do it, so I feel like an arsehole and a loser,” she moaned.
When she returned to the camp, she shouted: “It’s not good news. They wanted me to eat croc c*ck.”
A disgruntled Lynne answered: “I would have done that one.” She later told the Bush Telegraph: “She couldn’t handle it, she couldn’t do it, it’s alright. That’s the way it goes.”
Explaining the trial to her campmates, Janice said: “The guy [John]'s going: ‘What are you going to do when you go back with nothing?’”
J said: “I hope they put me up against him in something, then I’ll rub his *******ing nose in it when I win.”
