.
For her to 'leave' by leaving a note she has to see her sister when her son and daughter-in-law need her seems that Stephanie had to leave quickly ..hope nothing serious :(
Stephanie had to leave due to ill health: http://coronationstreetupdates.blogs...break-due.html which explains the sudden off-screen exit. I hope that she recovers and comes back to Corrie - I miss her :(
Thought I had seen something about her being poorly ... hope she is able to return soon, great character and great actress
I hope she returns too. This reminds me of when Maggie Jones had to be written out due to ill health :(
With Hayley leaving also, I hope that we will see some of Roy's half siblings on screen in the future.
I totally understand the need to write her out due to ill health, but considering the script writers are paid to write scripts, I didn't think it was the best plot line they could have come up with. I can't think of anything better, but then I'm not paid to write scripts.
i hope stephanie is better soon and makes a speedy recovery.
Stephanie Cole has commented on Twitter https://twitter.com/Stephdivacole that she isn't ill, and that she left suddenly because her brother died. She also says that she was due to finish soon anyway.
I'm very glad to hear she's not ill, though sorry her brother died.
It's disappointing that it doesn't sound as if she'll be back any time soon :(
corrie should get her back, roy needs her and so do the viewers
I too was disappointed with the way that Stephanie Cole was written out. With Roy and Hayley due to return a matter of days following her departure, I think the letter should have said something like:
"I'm sorry, I can't watch this again." I don't recall us ever being told how Roy's step father died, so it could then be explained that he had died of the same / similar to what Hayley is suffering with. I think they'd then have generated some sympathy for the character despite Sylvia running out on Roy and Hayley in their hour of need, rather than categorically 'She shouldn't have left like that' that we seem to be getting now.
Former Coronation Street star Stephanie Cole has confirmed that she has no plans to return to her role as Sylvia Goodwin.
The actress left the ITV soap last summer after two years playing Roy Cropper's outspoken mother.

Appearing on ITV's Daybreak this morning (February 26), Cole was asked whether viewers have seen the last of Sylvia.
She replied: "Yes, we have. I'm terrible, you see. I'm a little bit like a fly - I like to flit hither and thither! Well, let's say a butterfly - that's rather nice, isn't it?
"I don't like being away from theatre too long, I don't like being away from telly too long. I adored my time on Corrie - great, wonderful actors, great crews and great scripts. And also, of course, Robert Vaughn as my love interest - it can't be bad, can it?"
Sylvia departed Weatherfield after Roy's wife Hayley was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, seemingly unable to cope with the emotional situation.

Cole has since been cast in This May Hurt a Bit, a touring play which will explore the workings of the NHS.
She said today: "It's set in and around a family who have reason to use the NHS, so there are a lot of laughs and it's also very moving. You actually learn about how near we are to losing our NHS.
"When I was a child, I remember when it came in. Of course I don't remember all the details, but I remember my parents' relief when they realised that they could go to or call a doctor and know that they didn't have to count the pennies before they did it. We really are within a hair's breadth, and it's something about which I'm passionate."
This May Hurt a Bit tours the UK between March 6 and June 21.
