Not that I am excusing Charles's behavior, but Tom was rather asking for it, he really does need to learn when to shut up. The way he kept on talking when it was obvious that Charles angry and upset, maybe that is why he became a vet, as conversational skills are not needed.

Thinking about this again, I imagine if Tom was still paying his monthly fee, the leasing company would give him another car, yet Tom has not had a car since it was stolen. There would certainly be no money left over for a deposit on a house. This being written as if Tom owned the car. Major forget by the writersQuote:
