Share your tips with everyone! Anything you like that is to do with our vanity :p

Mine are..!

- Obvious, but always take make up off!

- Buy a cream that has the scent of your perfume, and mix it with your foundation. The foundation helps it to stay on for longer without sinking into your skin, and so you can smell the perfume for longer. Its also good if your foundation is too dark for your skin.

- Use Tigi Bed Head Control Freak Serum. I swear by it. My hair is semi-curly, and it gets rid of the frizz every time. You can use it on dry hair to flatten out any stray ones too. And it doesn't make your hair greasy or oily looking like most serums. Its about £11 a bottle from lots of hairdressers, and lasts for agees. I got a bottle in April and used it every day and its only just running low.

- Always use heat protection on your hair if you use straighteners or hairdryers. Damaged hair is not a good look.

- Never use black eye liner! Its too harsh on everyones skin tones and makes you look like a zombie. If you want a dark shade, use a very dark brown. Its less harsh. Or be more creative and use a coloured one.

- Conditioner needs time to work properly, so don't just slap it on and wash it off straight away. Put it on and work it in, and then do something else. Like shave your legs or something. And then wash it off. Makes you hair much sleeker.

- Either wear big earrings OR wear a big necklace. Wearing both makes you look odd.

- Men: Be carefull with straighteners! Overly straightened hair on men looks odd. And if you do straighten it, the don't just leave it, but then style it. Just straightening your hair makes it look flat. Wax is your friend

- Don't use foundation on your whole face, but parts of it. Its only meant to even your skin tone, not change it.

Yours?

I got a tip, don't bother at all, go o natural, makes your skin much healthier, and you'll look better (well the extra 30 mins in bed in the morning helps) and it's a lot cheaper

Beauty Tips - 13 page thread  (http://www.soapboards.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=2029&highlight=beauty+tips)
I learnt a new one yesterday.. When applying eyeliner always go from the outer corner to the inner corners of the eye as going to opposite way pulls the skin and causes wrinkles (if you keep on doing it!) x

Oohhhhh I have this lovely little book I bught from this potion-y shop in Tenby called Equinox.
It's called 1001 little beauty miracles :)
It's really good!

Heres a few beauty tips from there :)

Eyeliners sharpen better when left in the fridge for a few hours.

Kiss Away Your Double Chin
It takes 34 individual muscles to pucker up for a goodnight kiss, and the longer it goes on, the better the workout they'll get. Keep cheeks firm with regular kissing, and your partner will thank you too!

That's definately one for you hopeless romantics :love:

If you have warts apply the juice of a dandelion stem 2 or 3 times daily for several weeks (thats a new one :hmm: )

Keep hair clean and off the face to avoid making skin greasy, especially overnight when it can rub against skin as you sleep causing blemishes and spots to appear

If you're worried about chemicals and toxins in products, the main ones to avoid on ingredients lists are: propylene glycol-used in antifreeze (when we were camping I bought tesco's face wipes which had this in.. I didn't realise until I bought the book!) sodium lauryl sulphate (used in engine degreaser) and isopropyl alcohol.

I'll find more soon :D

Apply your foundation with a brush - I bought a Mac one recently and the girl testing it on me used a brush, said you should always use one. I now use an old blusher brush and the makeup goes on without patches and goes further too.

I never use gel or wax after i've straightened as my hair always will look a mess after, so whats the point in going to all that effort to make it look like a bag of straw?

what i do do though is put the hairdryer over it, blow it around and spray loads of Shockwave onto it whilst its being blown, so it doesn't look dead straight but it doesn't look messy either

Shockwave is a spray gel isn't it? So that helps to style it, which is what i meant. Its when people straighten it flat and leave it that it looks odd. Gel helps to style it, or wax helps to just give it texture and lift it.

And you sound like your using too much product on it, if it goes like straw. It binds the hair too much. Use a tiny tiny amount, and then you can always add to it later.

the one i use is more like a hairspray/lacker, but it does the job without being sticky or too heavy like

my cousin has it down to a knack, whenever she's cut my hair she always rubs a little bit on and makes it look good, but i can never seem to do it myself - i'm useless like that :D

I use foundation and blusher in winter when my tan has gone and stop it once I got a tan again around April time, everybody always comments on my lovely skin and how much younger I look to my real age. Unless I am on holiday (mascara only on hols!) I use eye make-up such as kohl pencil under my eyes which I blend with a little eye shadow, a little eye shadow on the top eye lid and lots of black mascara and some lippy.

Each to their own. :) I personally like wearing a bit of mineral foundation (which is good for you), mascara and lip gloss/balm....not too made up for the daytime, but enhancing what ya got!

It's not just a case of each to their own, it's what you can afford too, make up is expensive, i'd rather use my money for better things, things are essensial, like food and drink etc, i just don't see the point in it, when i'm just going to work, where i'll get hot and sweaty and it'll look bad after 1 hour there.

Some of us feel better with a bit of make-up, I know I do, and I don't use expensive materials. More important in my opinion is normal daily skin care, I wash my make-up off at night time with make-up remover, then use a cleanser tonic and a night cream, in the morning after just washing with water I apply a daily moisturiser, all cheap items from the drugstore's own brand label. Works for me, I admire people that feel good enough about themselves to go out without any make-up, I have not got that confidence.

I got one:

If you tend to break out in spots, any cream that is for rashes, chapped skin etc works a treat.

I used to use sudocrem or bepanthen (which is rather weird putting bum cream on your face lmao. (I know it's for other stuff too) )
but haven't used any for ages, then the other week I bought this cheap stuff from morrisons when I had prickly heat, it was like 1.50 or something and is in a blue tube. I always get spots near my period and have had a really bad break out this week, looks more like a rash really, they're not proper spots but anyway, I put loads on last night and this morning they'd all gone :D

You may have done this before but I think it's fab. I tend not to spend loads of money on expensive lotions and potions now (:

Fine you dont see the point of wearing make up and rather spend your money on other things...but I do see the point to wearing make up. I like buying make up, just as I like buying clothes to wear. :)

I definitely enjoy buying makeup than clothes (please don't shoot me for saying this but I don't enjoy clothes shopping that much *hides*)..
I buy a mixture of high end to high street really but I like it but I like wearing different colours and experimenting.. It makes all the difference to how I feel. Sometimes I have 'good days' and I like to go for the natural look.. Just depends on my mood really!
But yeah definitely a good skin regime is worth it! :D

Man what is this have a go at Dawn coz she doesn't wear make up and doesn't see the point. I know i'm in a minority, but surly i'm allowed to chose not too. Here's be why i don't post much on here, as it always ends up in a dispute or something. I think i'll just stick to posting spoilers and nothign else!

Lol, can I be a bit of both.
So...basically I dont wear make-up.
Sometimes I wear a little eye-liner, only cos I look really tired, but its my own fault for my late nights so I have massive bags under my eyes.
But thats all I wear. Although I do feel better when I wear make-up and even then , its only ever eye make up. I never wear blusher or foundation.

People are allowed to disagree with you, you know. She doesn't do the same thing as you, doesn't mean it's a "dispute". Just means we're all human and don't all agree all the time.

Anyway getting back on topic...this is a thread pertaining to beauty tips...

Put lip and eye pencils in the refrigerator before sharpening. They're less likely to break - and you won't waste so much.
