DVD Player - Disc Reading

My DVD player downstairs suddenly stopped working a while ago and though I have a television-video-dvd player upstairs as well and the DVD player is working upstairs I would like to get the downstairs one working. When I put in any DVD in the downstairs player it says that it can't be played because the DVD can't play it. I know its the correct region (region 2) - I have no region 1 discs and it is working in the DVD player upstairs - its just the downstairs one has a larger screen and is of better quality. Unfortunately I lost the manual that went with it when we reorganized the living room so I wondered if anyone else had a problem like that and how they fixed it.

I am almost certain that a button got pressed wrongly on the remote control and the disc reader either got disabled or the DVD player recieved a command it did not understand and got confused - thats what happened with dads laptop in India. A button got pressed wrongly on the keyboard and it got a command it did not understand, got confused and stopped working.

Any suggestions? It doesn't matter if you haven't got any but if you have then thats great. Its a bit expensive to get someone to repair it so at the moment we are waiting till we can afford a new one but if its a simple mtter then I'd like to see if I can repair it myself. thanks. Lizzie. You could try cleaning the haed of the player. Otherwise just buy a new one - you can get them for £20

Thanks. Only problem is that mine is a television/video/dvd combined. You can get them for only £20 - vow I didn't know that.
