EASTENDER Jessie Wallace's wedding today is hanging by a thread after her hubby-to-be sent sex emails to his ex-fiancée.
Pals said the actress went "berserk" after learning of Vince Morse's betrayal, and called off the bash.
When the catering boss, 50, begged her to rethink, Jess said she will tell him this morning if she has changed her mind.
As well as saucy emails to Karen Short, 47, he also sent her one a month ago saying it was OVER with Jessie.
It read: "As of a week ago it's really been off but I'm only just admitting it to myself."
A close family friend of Jess, 39 – who plays Kat Moon in the BBC1 soap – said: "To say Vince is in the doghouse is a huge understatement.
"She went absolutely berserk and launched at him, then called it all off.
"She desperately loves him but just feels very, very let down and humiliated.
"She has told him that she will decide this morning whether to go ahead."
Posh venue Pembroke Lodge in Richmond, South West London, remains on standby.
He sent pictures of Jessie (not very tasteful ones) to his ex according to Daily Star Sunday I think it was a plan for him and her to sell the pictures and story
Jessie is better off without him she always seems to pick bad fellas
Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed are getting married.
The 61-year-old Kiss rocker, who has been in a relationship with Tweed for 28 years, has announced that they will exchange vows in a ceremony at the Beverly Hills Hotel on October 1, days before their Family Jewels reality series returns to TV screens.
Simmons proposed to 54-year-old Tweed during Season 6 of the show and the couple have been busy planning their wedding since filming wrapped in July, according to E! News.
The couple have requested on their wedding invitation that guests wear "classy cocktail attire", adding that they "know some rock star attire will be worn".
The invite was sent out with a letter from the couple's two children. 22-year-old Nick and 19-year-old Sophie wrote: "After 28 years of two loose strings, our parents have finally decided to tie the knot. Our mother will share our horrendous hyphenate of a last name and our father's life... well, it doesn't change much."
Earlier this year, Tweed claimed that he and Simmons were on the verge of splitting up. He also described their relationship as "touch and go".
Gene Simmons Family Jewels returns to A&E on Tuesday, October 4 at 9pm.
Mel B has announced that she has given birth to a baby girl.
The Spice Girl welcomed her third child last night, after being taken to Los Angeles's Cedars-Sinai Hospital.
The unnamed baby is the singer and Australian X Factor judge's third, but her first with husband Stephen Belafonte. She is a sister to 12-year-old Phoenix Chi and 4-year-old Angel.
"This evening Melanie Brown and husband Stephen Belafonte welcomed their new baby girl in Los Angeles," a spokesperson confirmed. "This is the first child for Mel and Stephen and both mum and baby are happy, healthy and doing well."
Confirming the news on Twitter, Mel B wrote: "Finally our baby arrives,Stephen nearly passed out,Phoenix screamed, I laughed so hard the baby popped out!!! She is just sooo amazing!! (sic)"
Mel B, who was three weeks overdue, previously told Hello magazine that she "can't wait to meet this baby".
"The whole family is beside themselves. Both Phoenix and Angel arrived six weeks early. I've never been this pregnant before," the 36-year-old quipped.
Jim Davidson has been banned from a theatre for 'rude, unacceptable behaviour'.
The 57-year-old comedian, known for his near-the-knuckle style, published an email sent to him by Peter Wilson, chief executive of the Theatre Royal, Norwich.
Wilson's assessment of the comic's behaviour read: "Very rude to staff. Arguments over figures, drinks etc, and personal comments that are not acceptable.
"From the show report of that evening it is plain that you publicly insulted and demeaned my front of house colleagues, offensively queried the house returns, and refused to accept our policy on wheelchair users, and that your company manager Steve Farr behaved as badly.
"I'm sorry of course that your many fans - and I'm not for a moment questioning your popularity as an entertainer - have to travel to catch your act.
"But I prefer not to have you in our theatre because there is not a single person here who finds this sort of behaviour acceptable."
Davidson, who earlier this year cancelled his play Stand Up and Be Counted, also explained to his Norwich fanbase that he has not been "snubbing" East Anglia.
"I wanted to let you nice people from Norwich know why I am not playing your theatre," he wrote on his website.
"I have been asked by many people in Norfolk why I do not play the county's most prestigious theatre as they think I am snubbing the town in favour of Great Yarmouth.
"You will see from the reply I have received from the Theatre Royal, that this is not the case."
I have met Jim and was greatly disappointed with his behaviour towards the people trying to accommodate him before a show. He is very supportive of the Armed Forces which I admire, but especially in these times of numerous operational tours, the families want entertainment for all the family, not just adult humour
HEARTBROKEN Jessie Wallace has told pals she still loves jilted fiancé Vince Morse – as the pair prepare for make-or-break crisis talks in Greece today
But last night the couple's relationship was back on following a series of phone conversations.
And today they will try to rebuild their lost love at the idyllic resort where they had originally planned to spend their honeymoon.
Catering boss Vince, 50, was flying to Greece last night from his best man's home in Ibiza.
Once there he will BEG Jessie for another chance during their meeting – kept secret even from members of the star's closest family.
Meanwhile Jessie, who plays Albert Square's fiery Kat Moon, was travelling to Greece with a pal.
She told one friend: "It's make or break. I cannot believe what he has put me through.
"I am supposed to be on my honeymoon with the man of my dreams – and instead we're meeting in secret at the hotel to try to save our relationship. But I still love Vince and he knows it.
"We're back together for now, but he's got to convince me we have a long term future together."
Jessie, 39, cancelled her wedding to Vince in Richmond, South West London, after learning of the snap he sent ex-fiancee Karen Short.
She called off their honeymoon and sought refuge at their marital home. Meanwhile Vince drowned his sorrows with best man Tony Truman before flying back to his pal's Ibiza home.
But the couple's reunion was arranged on the phone. And last night Jessie was due to head for the five-star Greek resort, which lies just a brief walk from golden beaches and romantic restaurants.
Hotel staff had been told to keep the honeymoon suite reserved as she repeatedly booked flights then failed to arrive at the airport.
The source added: "Jessie is all over the place. She is volatile. One minute she is speaking amicably with Vince, the next she's screaming blue murder. He should take a crash helmet with him to Greece."
The source said: "He went for lunch on Thursday and the people sitting next to him asked to be moved as soon as they realised who he was. He feels like he is the most despised man on earth."
Vince's world unravelled after he sent a photo of Jessie wearing a black basque and with her breasts exposed to ex-love Karen, 47.
Jessie has told pals she fears she will never have a longed-for second baby if her relationship with Vince breaks down forever.
Mark Ronson has married lingerie model Josephine de La Baume in a stylish ceremony in her native France.
The Version musician tied the knot this afternoon in the Southern city of Aix en Provence, kicking off a two-day event in celebration of the newlyweds.
Ronson wore a candy-striped suit to his nuptials, while de La Baume walked down the aisle in a low-cut Zac Posen wedding dress.
Celebrity guests included Lily Allen and Kate Moss, while Scottish indie rockers The View will play at the couple's reception. The band's frontman Kyle Falconer lent vocals to Ronson track 'The Bike Song', which starred the DJ's new wife in its music video.
Ronson and de La Baume will split their time between homes in New York and Paris, according to the Daily Mail.
The pair announced their engagement back in February, having been dating since March 2009.
Guy Ritchie has become a father once again, according to reports.
The Sherlock Holmes director welcomed a baby boy with his girlfriend Jacqui Ainsley on Sunday, according to The Mirror.
"The baby came a few days earlier than planned but the actual birth went well and both mum and tot are doing great," an insider told the website.
The couple have not yet made an official statement.
Ritchie already has two children - Rocco, 11, and David, 6 - with ex-wife Madonna. This is the first child for Ainsley.
The insider also revealed that Madonna, who divorced Ritchie in 2008, congratulated the couple with a bouquet.
"Madonna sent her congratulations. Rocco, Lourdes, and adopted youngsters, David and Mercy are all being introduced to the new arrival within the next couple of weeks," the source continued. "Both Guy and Madonna are determined to be grown-up about it and remain on friendly terms."
The 'Material Girl' singer recently revealed that her two ex-husbands have been very supportive of her directorial debut W.E., saying that they encouraged the film.
In mid-July, Ritchie declared that it was an "easy choice" to direct a Sherlock Holmes sequel, admitting that he really enjoyed working on the first movie.

"The whole family is beside themselves. Both Phoenix and Angel arrived six weeks early. I've never been this pregnant before," the 36-year-old quipped.
Mel B has reportedly revealed the name of her newborn baby girl.
The former Spice Girl and husband Stephen Belafonte have called their daughter Madison Brown Belafonte, reveals E! News.
The couple welcomed their first child together last week in Los Angeles.
Mel B subsequently wrote on Twitter: "Finally our baby arrives,Stephen nearly passed out,Phoenix screamed, I laughed so hard the baby popped out!!! She is just sooo amazing!! (sic)"
The singer already has two daughters from previous relationships - 12-year-old Phoenix Chi with dancer Jimmy Gulzar, and 4-year-old Angel Iris with comedian Eddie Murphy.
Mel B, who currently serves as a judge on the Australian X Factor, announced in May that she hopes to release new solo material before the end of the year.
Henry Winkler has been awarded an honorary OBE.
The actor, best known for playing Arthur 'The Fonz' Fonzarelli in sitcom Happy Days, received the honour at the British embassy in Washington DC for his work to help children in the UK with dyslexia.
Winkler said: "Receiving this honour is a very humbling experience. My goal when I started working with children was never to bring accolades on myself but to change how people think about those around them for whom learning is a struggle.
"I am flattered to have had my work recognised in this manner, and hope to continue showing kids that their learning difficulty isn't a disability."
Nigel Sheinwald, the British ambassador to the US who presented Winkler with the award, added: "Improving the lives of children is one of the highest acts of good one can pursue, and Mr Winkler has certainly done that.
"Through him, thousands of young people have seen a role model and an inspiration for overcoming their learning challenges.
"Henry Winkler is living proof that difficulties can be overcome and that for those suffering disability and self-doubt, happy days can nevertheless lie ahead."
Winkler was diagnosed with dyslexia as an adult and has spent the last two years touring UK schools to talk to children, teachers and policy makers about his experience.
He also has written 17 books featuring a boy with dyslexia named Hank Zipzer, based on his own childhood struggles.
Earlier this year, Winkler admitted to feeling "angry" when he was diagnosed with dyslexia so late in life but he added that he had learned to "embrace the dyslexia rather than be embarrassed by it or defeated by it".
Congratulations to him well deserved. Yeeeeahhh!! :D

NEW Tricks star James Bolam has dramatically quit the hit show — just days after the BBC announced it is planning a ninth series with the "dream team" cast.
The show is the Beeb's most popular drama with regular viewing figures around the 10 million mark.
James, 76, stars with Amanda Redman, Dennis Waterman and Alun Armstrong as an ex-cop working on old cases.
But he believes the format is tired and wants to end on a high.
Executive producer Richard Burrell said: "We are very sorry to see him go."
Jenni Falconer has announced the birth of her first child.
The TV presenter and husband James Midgley, who married last June, welcomed their daughter Ella Rose last night.
Falconer confirmed the news on Twitter, writing: "The wait was worth it....our beautiful baby girl, Ella Rose Midgley, arrived last night at 12.37 weighing 7lb 2oz. We are totally smitten!"
The 35-year-old previously said that she was "just waiting" to give birth, after passing her due date earlier this month.
Falconer co-hosted ITV's This Morning alongside Phillip Schofield for several months earlier this year, while regular presenter Holly Willoughby was off on maternity leave.
Both Schofield and Willoughby offered the couple their congratulations on today's edition of the daytime magazine show.
Christine Bleakley is to host a new Stars in Their Eyes-style show for celebrities.

The show is only in the *development stage but ITV are *hoping it will be the perfect platform for Christine to launch herself as a primetime entertainment *presenter.

David Croft, co-writer and producer of classic comedies including 'Allo 'Allo and Hi-de-Hi has died at the age of 89, his family has announced.
He died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Portugal. His family called him a "truly great man" in a statement.
Croft's military sitcoms It Ain't Half Hot Mum and Dad's Army, written with Jimmy Perry, were hits in the 1970s.
He is also credited with Are You Being Served and its 1990s spin-off Grace and Favour.
Croft, who was awarded an OBE in 1978 for services to television, worked alongside Jeremy Lloyd on both the department store sitcom and 'Allo 'Allo, which was set in Nazi-occupied France.
All of his hits were produced for the BBC, the last being Oh Doctor Beeching in 1993 before he retired from the corporation.
A decade later, Croft was honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the British Comedy Awards.
Croft was born as David John Sharland to stage actress Annie Croft and Reginald Sharland, a successful Hollywood radio actor.
He enlisted in the army during World War II, which was to provide some of his later comic inspiration for Dad's Army and It Ain't Half Hot Mum.
Dad's Army was the first of his series to come to TV screens, in 1968, and marked the start of his fruitful and long-lived comic partnership with Jimmy Perry.
He also wrote scripts for numerous well-loved pantomimes during this time.
RIP David :(

He has earned three Emmy Awards and also received the organisation's Lifetime Achievement honour in 2003.

According to a report from Star Magazine, Moore and Ashton Kutcher are splitting up after six years of marriage.
The magazine says that Moore and Kutcher have been living apart "for months" and that the couple is headed for a $290 million divorce. The cause for the split? The magazine says the new Two and a Half Men star has cheated on his wife. A year ago, a woman told Star Magazine that she had carried on an affair with Kutcher.
Multiple gossip sites began to question the stability of their marriage after Kutcher and Moore spent their wedding anniversary, Sept. 24, apart. According to People, Kutcher was seen clubbing with friends in San Diego while Moore was in New York. Moore, usually an avid tweeter, has also been posting slightly cryptic messages as of late. "When we are offended at any man's fault, turn to yourself & study your own failings. Then you will forget your anger. —Epictetus," Moore tweeted on Sept. 23. Three days later, she tweeted "I see through you" and linked to a picture of herself not smiling with her eyes closed.
Moore, who is 15 years Kutcher's senior, wed the TV star in 2005 after dating for two years. She was previously married to musician Freddy Moore and then actor Bruce Willis, with whom she has three daughters.
Mike Myers has become a first-time father.
A spokesperson for the Austin Powers star confirmed in May that the actor's wife Kelly Tisdale was pregnant with the couple's first child.
Today, Myers's rep revealed that the pair welcomed a baby boy two weeks ago.
"He is healthy and his parents are ecstatic," Myers's rep told E! News.
Myers and Tisdale wed in 2010, but did not announce the news until this past March.
Last month, the 48-year-old signed on for a fourth instalment in the Austin Powers franchise.
There is no word as of yet on whether Jay Roach, director of all three previous movies, will return for the next picture.
Jeff Conaway died accidentally, an autopsy has ruled.
Los Angeles County coroner Craig Harvey told The AP that Conaway's death was caused by a major internal infection.
When the Grease actor died in May at the age of 60, there were suspicions that he had taken a deliberate overdose.
Harvey did confirm that Conaway had drugs in his system when he was originally hospitalised.
Olivia Newton-John and Daniel Baldwin were among those to pay tribute to the star.
Shane Warne reportedly proposed to Liz Hurley in St Andrews last night.
The cricketer apparently popped the question in front of VIP diners at the Road Hole Restaurant in the Old Course Hotel following a romantic meal.
Hurley, who is in Scotland to attend the Alfred Dunhill Links Golf Championship with Warne, accepted his proposal, according to the Daily Mail.
"Shane proposed over dinner and it was fairly public, not a private affair," a source said. "It was a VIP crowd in there this evening. It was residents only, including Dunhill past players.
"He didn't get down on one knee, but when it was announced the other guests in the restaurant stood up and applauded. Everyone there was absolutely delighted."
Previous reports had indicated that Warne was planning to propose to the actress. The pair have been dating since December last year.
Film star Diane Cilento has passed away aged 78.
The Australian actress, who received an Academy Award nomination for her role in Tom Jones in 1963, died in the Cairns Base Hospital last night after battling a long illness, reports The ABC.
Cilento and James Bond actor Sean Connery were married in 1962 and had son Jason together. However, the couple divorced in 1973 and had a public falling out in 2008 after Cilento claimed that Connery had cut Jason out of his will.
She was also married to playwright and The Wicker Man screenwriter Anthony Shaffer from 1973 until his death in 2001.
Cilento appeared opposite actors including Charlton Heston and Paul Newman during her Hollywood career, and starred with her son in her last film The Boy Who Had Everything in 1985.
Cilento, who came from a well-known medical family, established north Queensland outdoor theatre the Karnak Playhouse with Shaffer during the 1980s. She released an autobiography titled My Nine Lives in 2006.
RIP Diane
Paul McCartney has married his fiancée Nancy Shevell in London.
The Beatles musician tied the knot with the US heiress this afternoon (October 9) at the Old Marylebone Town Hall, which was surrounded by an excitable crowd of hundreds of well-wishers.
Shevell wore an ivory wedding gown designed by her new husband's daughter Stella McCartney, while the 69-year-old was dressed in a dark suit coupled with a simple blue tie.
His younger brother Mike reportedly served as best man and his young daughter Beatrice was the flower girl. McCartney's Beatles bandmate Ringo Starr is said to have attended the ceremony.
The couple, who became engaged in May, are expected to hold a low key reception at their home in St John's Wood.
McCartney married his first wife Linda at the same venue in 1969. Their union came to an end on her death from breast cancer in 1998.
He went on to marry Heather Mills in 2002, but the couple divorced six years later.
McCartney's wedding to Shevell took place on what would have been the 71st birthday of his professional partner John Lennon.
I wish them good luck
Carla Bruni and Nicolas Sarkozy have welcomed their first child.
The French First Lady, who confirmed her pregnancy in July, gave birth to a baby girl at the Clinque de la Muette in Paris on Wednesday, reports Le Figaro.
No further details have yet been released, including the child's name.
It is the first time that a ruling French president has become a father while in office since Napoleon.
Bruni was first rumoured to be expecting in May, though she stayed coy on the rumours for months before confirming.
Last month, the model and actress said that she would do everything to protect her child and would not sell photos of the baby to any publication.
"You don't have a child for the [photo] gallery. [My] position as the wife of the head of state has made me even more defensive. I understand the media interest, and I don't see any inconvenience in it for myself or my husband, but when it concerns the children, it's not impossible," Bruni said.
Sarkozy and Bruni married in 2008.
Myleene Klass has married her long-term partner Graham Quinn.
Her PR team confirmed that the Popstar to Operastar presenter tied the knot in Norwich today.
With the media unaware of the event, a total of 16 guests were invited to the couple's private ceremony.
"Myleene and Gray had a private intimate wedding in Norwich today. Only 16 close family and friends were invited," Hackford Jones PR confirmed.
"The couple did not want a big lavish affair, they just wanted to be married and enjoy the day with their nearest and dearest."
The former Hear'Say singer had been engaged to Quinn for six years, and last year revealed plans for a 2011 wedding.
She had previously indicated in 2009 that she would "keep living in sin".
They are parents to 4-year-old daughter Ava and 6-month-old Hero Harper.

Lewis Hamilton and Nicole Scherzinger
hit the skids
Couple split after four years
LEWIS Hamilton and Nicole Scherzinger have split for good after four years together, The Sun can reveal.
F1 racing driver Lewis and stunning singer and US X Factor judge Nicole, who met at the MTV Awards in Munich in 2007, have called time on their relationship.
They have parted before, in January this year, citing work issues — but pals say this time they are treating it as final.
A source said: "Nicole and Lewis have tried to make it work but realised it's just not happening so have called it a day once and for all.
"They've spoken at length about it but agreed there's no point as they never see each other. They spend their whole time on opposite sides of the world.
"Although they came to an amicable decision, Nicole is actually devastated about it. She thought Lewis was the one."
Nicole, 33, has been juggling her time between seeing Lewis, 26, and her many work commitments. In the past year the Hawaiian-born beauty has released and promoted debut solo album Killer Love, filmed her part in Men In Black III and landed the job as a judge on US X Factor.
Meanwhile Lewis, who has appeared unsettled in recent weeks, has been touring the globe with his F1 team McLaren.
Following a miserable run of results, Hamilton was back on the podium last Sunday after coming second at the Korean Grand Prix.
As well as their careers keeping them apart he is based in the Swiss city of Geneva whereas Nicole has a home in the Hollywood Hills.
The pair have previously spoken of their future together. But last month Lewis batted away the suggestion of starting a family, saying: "I'm still young. It's a long way away."
A source added: "They still genuinely care for each other but they've decided to be adult about it and go it alone. There are no hard feelings."

Nicole Scherzinger is reportedly being comforted by Steve Jones following her rumoured split from Lewis Hamilton.
It was claimed yesterday that the X Factor USA judge had ended her four-year relationship with the Formula One driver because they "spend their whole time on opposite sides of the world".
According to The Mirror, X Factor USA host Jones is supporting the 'Don't Hold Your Breath' singer, who is said to be "in turmoil".
A source said: "Nicole is crushed and has shed so many tears. Steve's been a shoulder to cry on and a real gent.
"They have become close and have met up outside the studio. He listens to her and makes her laugh."
An X Factor USA insider added that their flirting is "all very innocent" but suggested that there is an "unmistakable chemistry" between the pair.
Scherzinger recently confirmed plans to re-release her debut album Killer Love in the UK on November 14 with new tracks.

It's a shame that they have split up but both have careers that take them all over the world and unless Nicole was willing to give it up and settle in Switzerland with Lewis it was not going to last.
Robin Williams has tied the knot with graphic designer Susan Schneider.
The Happy Feet actor married Schneider in the Napa Valley town of St. Helena, California on Sunday, reports US Weekly.
Guests apparently included directors Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, and his Fathers' Day co-star Billy Crystal.
The actor is said to have met Schneider after his heart surgery in 2009.
It is Williams's third marriage after the divorce to his second wife last year.
Williams was one of the actors rumoured for a role in Christopher Nolan's film The Dark Knight Rises following the actor's confession that he "would do Batman in a second".
"I'd play The Riddler in the next one, although it would be hard to top Heath Ledger as the villain and I'm a little hairy for tights," he said.
Bruce Willis is expecting a child with his second wife Emma Heming, it has been announced.
The couple will be welcoming their first child together early next year, according to US Weekly.
The RED actor married Hemming in March 2009.
Last year, Willis, who has daughters Rumer, Scout and Tallulah with ex-wife Demi Moore, said that he is "indifferent" to having more children since his priority is to make Heming happy.
He also has said that he is grateful for his relationship with Heming.
"I'm the happiest I've ever been and this comes after a long period of being kind of lonely, even though I tried to convince myself that I was enjoying my life," he said. "For much of the last ten years I was single and unhappy. Now I'm happy all the time."
Willis is also expected to reunite with his RED co-stars, after Warner Bros producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura revealed his plans for a sequel.
"We're trying to put it together," di Bonaventura said. "We just got a script and it's really good. We're all just now discussing how to put it all back together again."

Lewis Hamilton has confirmed his split with Nicole Scherzinger.
Speaking for the first time following reports of the pair's break-up, the Formula One driver told PA that despite ending their four-year romance he will remain close with the singer and X Factor judge.
Hamilton said: "Yeah, we're friends at least and we can move forward. It's never easy going through tough times.
"It's these kind of times that are sent to try you, and it's about how you pull through them. I've my family who are helping, so I feel pretty good."
The 26-year-old added: "I've many more days coming up with my family over Christmas and all that, so I'm really looking forward to it.
"I'm just trying to look forward now, and we've three good races coming up, so I'm just trying to keep my mind focused on business."
I'm A Celebrity star Stacey Solomon has revealed she is pregnant with her second child.
The 22-year-old, who is already mother to three-year-old Zac, is expecting a baby with boyfriend Aaron Barham.
In an interview with the Sun, she said she was "nervous" about breaking the news to painter Aaron as the pregnancy was not planned.
But she added: "We are really excited. And I'm really looking forward to everything, knowing I am sharing it with the person I want to spend my life with."
Stacey said her first pregnancy, by ex-boyfriend Dean Cox, came as a "massive shock".
She added: "Everything is different this time. I feel a lot more experienced and ready."
The singer and TV presenter, who is to have a three-month scan next week, said she wants to find out the sex of the baby as soon as she can.

Billie Piper is expecting her second child with husband Laurence Fox.
A spokesperson told Digital Spy that the couple are "delighted" to be expecting another baby.
The former Secret Diary of a Call Girl star was reportedly worried that her pregnancy would affect her role in Neil LaBute's play Reasons to be Pretty.
London's Almeida Theatre's artistic director Michael Attenborough, who also directs the play, revealed news of the new arrival, telling the Daily Mail that Piper was upset at the prospect of disrupting the previews.
"She was upset and told me she was pregnant," Attenborough said, adding that the actress had "very generously offered to withdraw" from her role.
"However, she was Neil LaBute's and my first choice for the part - and fortunately the character is pregnant - so with a bit of judicious rewriting we're all delighted she'll be with us."
He continued: "I told her that I'd love her to do it and she just wept on my shoulder. She thought that was it. She was thrilled."
Piper and Fox, who married in 2007, are already parents to 3-year-old Winston.
Hugh Grant has welcomed a baby girl, it has been revealed.
The Love Actually star, who is rumoured to be dating Chinese actress Tinglan Hong, has reportedly become a father for the first time.

"He's going to be a great dad!" the insider said. "He's beaming about his daughter. He's not with the mum anymore but he's absolutely thrilled."
The 51-year-old confessed last year that he was "dreading" turning 50, joking that he would commit suicide on the special day just to avoid getting older.
Grant was taken to hospital in March after complaining of feeling faint, dizzy and short of breath.
The actor previously dated actress Elizabeth Hurley and British writer Jemima Kahn.
Steven Gerrard and wife Alex have welcomed a third child.
The Liverpool footballer's wife gave birth to a girl at 4pm this afternoon (Tuesday), weighing 7lbs, 15oz.
Both practising Catholics, they named the girl Lourdes after the French town to which pilgrims travel every year.
In a statement, a spokesman for the couple said that the baby is "doing well", adding: "Steven and Alex would like to thank the media for respecting the privacy of their family at this time."
The Gerrards, who married in 2007, have two older daughters - 7-year-old Lilly-Ella and 5-year-old Lexie - together.
News of Alex's pregnancy was revealed in May.
If they are practicing catholics, should they not have waited to have children until after they got married? :hmm: Anyway, congratulations to them

Chantelle Houghton has announced she and her fiance Alex Reid are expecting a baby together and she is 11 weeks pregnant.
Demi Moore has announced that she and husband Ashton Kutcher are to divorce.
The 49-year-old married the actor in September 2005, but their relationship came under scrutiny in recent months due to rumours that he had an affair.
Moore cited "sacred values" as one of the reasons for her decision to divorce the Two and a Half Men star, in a statement released to The AP.
"It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton," she said. "As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life.
"This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation."
Kutcher said in a blog post: "I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi.
"Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and Light, AK."
The actress was previously married to Bruce Willis, and had three daughters together - Rumer, Scout and Tallulah Belle - before their divorce in 2000.
Ashton Kutcher recently handed over ownership of his highly-followed Twitter account, following comments made about Joe Paterno.
Piers Morgan has reportedly become a dad for the fourth time.
His wife Celia Walden, 34, has given birth to a baby girl, according to the Daily Mail.
Morgan and Walden, who married in June last year, have named their first child together Elise.
The couple's new arrival is said to have been born at the Cedars Sinai Hospital in Beverly Hills.
Morgan's spokesperson has declined to comment.
The CNN news anchor has three sons from his previous marriage with Marion Shalloe, which lasted until 2008.
Lily Allen has reportedly given birth to a baby girl.
The 'Not Fair' singer is believed to have welcomed her first child with husband Sam Cooper, after a friend alluded to the happy occasion on Twitter.
Her ex-boyfriend Seb Chew wrote earlier tonight (November 25): "sending out love to lily, sam and mini cooper...... YES."
A close friend told the Daily Mail that the birth was "all good".
Cooper announced Allen's pregnancy during their wedding reception back in June.
The couple lost a baby in November 2010, six months into Allen's pregnancy.
She previously miscarried the child she was expecting with Chemical Brothers star Ed Simons in January 2008.
Congratulations to them :cheer:
Paul Young has forgiven Gino D'Acampo for breaking into his home back in 1997.
The celebrity chef served two years in jail at the age of 21 for stealing £4,000 worth of guitars from the 'Wherever I Lay My Hat' singer.
Despite suspecting that D'Acampo's first apology was issued in preparation for his triumphant I'm A Celebrity appearance in 2009, Young said that he was hoping the pair would team up in the future.
"Gino wanted to apologise," he told The Sun. "I thought that was nice. Then he went on I'm A Celebrity and I thought, 'Now I know why!' He and I should do something stupid like collaborate on a show or a book."
D'Acampo and his I'm A Celebrity co-star Stuart Manning were both charged with animal cruelty by Australian police after unlawfully killing a rat while competing on the show.
The case was dropped after ITV apologised for the incident.
Chris Evans has announced that he is to become a father for the third time.
The Radio 2 DJ revealed that his wife Natasha is pregnant with their second child after undergoing IVF treatment. The couple became parents to son Noah in February 2009.
Evans also has a 25-year-old daughter named Jade from a previous relationship.
"Mrs E is in the family way once again," he stated in his Mail On Sunday column. "Thank you so much to the people who made it possible. We are eternally grateful. You make dreams come true."
Evans said that the couple sought IVF treatment after complications during a previous pregnancy resulted in the loss of their unborn child and almost cost Natasha her life.
"Tash's first pregnancy was practically textbook, so naively we thought a follow-up kid would be a cinch," he said. "Not so, however... Tash did fall pregnant 18 months ago but the pregnancy became ectopic, we lost the baby and, quite frankly, we almost lost my wife.
"After that, Tash's situation was different and we were forced to go down the route of IVF... There have been a few false starts before striking gold."
Evans confirmed the news on Twitter, writing: "Thx to all for good wishes. We are 3, about to be 4 (plus Big Sis Jade of course). Best of luck to all those also trying for a wee one :-)))."
Evans married Natasha back in August 2007.
Gino D'Acampo has forgiven Gino D'Acampo for breaking into his home back in 1997.
That's big of him forgiving himself.
Surely it would have been more appropriate if the victim had forgiven him
Stand-up comedian and actor Patrice O'Neal has died at the age of 41.
Fellow comedian and friend Jim Norton confirmed today on The Opie and Anthony Show that O'Neal had died from complications arising from a stroke he had suffered on October 19. O'Neal had suffered from diabetes.
"Yes it's true that our pal Patrice O'Neal has passed away. The funniest and best thinker I've ever known PERIOD. #devastated," host of the radio show Opie confirmed on Twitter.
O'Neal's representative Matt Frost added to TMZ: "Many of us have lost a close and loved friend; all of us have lost a true comic genius.
"His mother, who was also his best friend, was at his side. Patrice is survived by his wife, Vondecarlo; his step daughter Aymilyon, sister Zinder, and his mother Georgia."
He added: "The family wishes to thank all of the fans and friends who have expressed an outpouring of love and support for Patrice these past weeks.
"We ask that you please respect the family's request for privacy at this difficult time."
The comedian had appeared on Comedy Central's Roast of Charlie Sheen in September.
During his career, O'Neal had appeared on a number of TV shows, from Chapelle's Show and Arrested Development to The Office.
He hosted the first two seasons of VH1's Web Junk 20 and appeared in feature films In The Cut and Scary Movie 4, and - more recently - Furry Vengeance.
Harry Morgan has died, aged 96.
The actor was perhaps most well known for playing Colonel Potter in the long-running sitcom M*A*S*H*. His son Charles confirmed that Morgan passed away at his home in Los Angeles.
Morgan was a prolific character actor who appeared in over 100 movies, including High Noon, Inherit the Wind, How the West was Won and the 1987 Dragnet remake with Tom Hanks.
He often played loyal sidekicks, sheriffs, Western baddies, police chiefs and judges in his many roles.
Morgan was also known for portraying officer Bill Gannon in the 1967 update of Dragnet, Pete Porter in sitcom Pete and Gladys and Amos Coogan in Hec Ramsey.
He won an Emmy Award in 1980 for his role as Potter in M*A*S*H*.
More recently he appeared in television shows including 3rd Rock from the Sun and Murder, She Wrote.
His son said: "My dad would read a script the way somebody else would read Time magazine and put it down and be on the set the next day.
"Appearing on a talk show to focus on himself because he was Harry Morgan was not nearly as natural as appearing in a role as Pete Porter or Bill Gannon or Colonel Potter, or as the cowboy drifter who wandered into town with Henry Fonda and got wrapped up in a vigilante brigade in Ox-Bow Incident."
RIP Harry
Sinead O'Connor has split from her fourth husband after 16 days of marriage.
Announcing the news on her website, the 'Nothing Compares 2 U' singer explained that "intense pressure" caused by Barry Herridge's circle of friends was the reason for their break-up.
She wrote: "From the moment myself and my husband got together not long ago, there was intense pressure placed upon him by certain people in his life, not to be involved with me. These were people who had never met me but had formed opinions of me based on what they read about 'Sinead 'O'Connor' in the media etc.
"Entitled as they are to their opinions about me, many perhaps well deserved, there was no righteousness on anyone's part to put my husband through what he was put through as a result of his desire to be with me and to marry me and as a result of his actually marrying me.
"Within 3 hours of the ceremony being over the marriage was kyboshed by the behaviour of certain people in my husband's life. And also by a bit of a wild ride i took us on looking for a bit of a smoke of weed for me wedding night as I don't drink. My husband was enormously wounded and very badly effected by that experience and also by the attitude of those close to him toward our marriage. (sic)
"It became apparent to me that if he were to stay with me he would be losing too much to bear. And that being with me was not going to serve him positively, career wise or any other wise. I saw his life leave him because of how people close to him reacted. And I can't take anyone's life. And a woman wants to be a joy to her husband. So.. U love someone? Set them free."
O'Connor continued: "He is a wonderful man. I love him very much. I'm sorry I'm not a more regular woman. I truly believe though it is painful to admit, we made a mistake rushing into getting married, for altruistic reasons, and weren't aware or prepared for the consequences on my husband's life and the lives of those close to him. He has been terribly unhappy and I have therefore ended the marriage. I think he is too nice to do so. And too nice to trap."
After asking fans and the media to respect Herridge's privacy, the star concluded: "We haven't been awful to each other. So while I feel sad for my husband, and sad to be the cause of sorrow to yet another poor man, I'm also happy that I know we weren't horrible to each other and he is better off free. And that I can be me. And that's a freedom I can't give up for anyone or anything. Neither should my husband or anyone else."

I used to love Blockbusters too....I'll have a P please Bob....I used to have a card game based on the TV series. RIP Bob :(
Bob Holness, former host of daytime quiz show Blockbusters, has died at 83.
In a statement, his family said he had "died peacefully in his sleep" early on Friday morning.
Holness, who had suffered a series of strokes, had been in a nursing home. He is survived by his wife Mary, three children and seven grandchildren.
Holness "was also an accomplished theatre actor and his radio broadcasting career spanned over six decades", the family statement added.
South African-born Holness joined the BBC in the 1960s and hosted Late Night Extra on Radio 1 and Radio 2, alongside presenters including Terry Wogan.
The show continued to air on Radio 2's AM frequency only until 1975, before Holness moved to commercial station LBC, co-hosting the morning show with Douglas Cameron.
'Positive reception'
Early in his broadcasting career, he also became the second actor to portray James Bond, starring in a radio adaptation of Moonraker in 1956.
In 2008, he told the BBC that the opportunity "just came up through a hole in the floor".
Holness hosted Call My Bluff from 1996 until 2002
"I was doing lots of radio plays at the time but I wanted to do something a bit different, so when James Bond came up I ventured in and said yes."
He said he had never heard of the character but that it "became an amazing part to play and the response from listeners was terrific".
However he remains best known for hosting ITV gameshow Blockbusters, from 1983 to 1993, complete with its hexagonal board, gold runs and the classic double entendre contestant request: "Can I have a P please, Bob?"
"People say 'Don't you ever get fed up with it?' but I didn't," he once said.
"I loved everything to do with the show so it always got a very positive reception from me, however many times I heard it."
Douglas Cameron and Holness presented together on LBC
He continued to appear on the airwaves, hosting shows including a Tuesday night broadcast on Radio 2, presenting the BBC Radio Orchestra's selection of the best in popular music.
He also presented the BBC World Service request show Anything Goes - a show purported to be a favourite of Aung San Suu Kyi while under house arrest - bringing him a new legion of international fans.
From 1996 until 2002, he hosted the BBC's long-running panel game Call My Bluff on television.
But his health began to deteriorate in the 1990s after he suffered a mini-stroke; a more severe attack in 2002 led to temporary paralysis.
Those who have paid tribute to Holness include Radio 2 controller Bob Shennan who said he was "a talented and much-loved presenter who will be sadly missed".
BBC Radio 4 presenter Martha Kearney, meanwhile, said she had worked with him on the LBC AM Bob and Doug show and described him as a "real gent".

Heather Locklear is said to be in a conscious and stable condition after being rushed to hospital on Thursday (January 12).
The Melrose Place actress - who successfully completed an in-patient rehabilitation programme for a prescription drug dependency in 2010 after being involved in a hit-and-run accident - was examined by paramedics and taken for medical treatment in an ambulance.
It is thought that she may have mixed prescription drugs and alcohol.
A spokesperson for Los Robles Hospital told KNBC Los Angeles that Locklear will remain in hospital overnight, adding that she is conscious, stable and "resting comfortably".
According to TMZ, Ventura County Sheriff's Department and the fire service were the first to respond to Locklear's sister's call to the emergency services, which was placed at 2.05pm on Thursday afternoon.
Captain Mike Aranda from the Sheriff's Department later told People: "Emergency response personnel responded to a medical emergency call at Ms Locklear's residence. Once they arrived, it was determined that Ms Locklear needed to be transported to the hospital for further medical attention."
The star recently called off her engagement to The Bold and the Beautiful actor Jack Wagner. It has since been reported that they separated because planning their wedding put too much pressure on their relationship and living together was too hard for their children from previous relationships.
Wagner has insisted that he and Locklear "still love each other very much".

Heidi Klum and Seal haven't made any final decisions on the future of their relationship, a friend has allegedly revealed.
It was reported yesterday (January 21) that the supermodel is likely to file divorce papers as early as next week, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the break-up of their six-year marriage.
However, according to Us Weekly, a source close to the couple has said that they are still currently together, adding: "Nothing is finalised or for sure. Seal flew back from the UK yesterday and he and Heidi are in the house together now. They've had a very rough road lately. They're either madly in love or having crazy fights."
The insider went on to say that Klum and Seal's recent trip to Aspen was "very hard" and that the pair fought a lot during the vacation, but that they will consider the future of their marriage carefully because of their children.
"It's been very hard. but there is a lot of love there, and any decision that will be made is a tough one because they have beautiful children who they both love very deeply," they added.
The couple have sons Henry, 6, Johan, 5, and 2-year-old daughter Lou together, with Leni, Klum's 7-year-old daughter from a previous relationship, adopted by the 'Kiss from a Rose' singer in 2009. They married in May 2005.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have become engaged, a representative for the couple has confirmed.
Rumours that the pair were to marry were fuelled after Jolie was spotted wearing what appeared to be an engagement ring during a private viewing at Los Angeles County Museum of Art's Chinese Galleries on Wednesday (April 11).
Pitt's representative Cynthia Pett-Dante has since told Reuters.>: "Yes, it's confirmed. It is a promise for the future and their kids are very happy. There's no date set at this time,"
The design of the engagement ring was a collaborative effort between Brad Pitt and jeweler Robert Procop, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
"I can confirm that, yes, Robert Procop did indeed design an engagement ring for Angelina Jolie, designed in collaboration with Brad Pitt," a Procop representative said.
"Brad had a specific vision for this ring, which he realised over a yearlong collaboration," the rep added. "He wanted every aspect of it to be perfect, so I was able to locate a diamond of the finest quality and cut it to an exact custom size and shape to suite Angelina's hand.
"Brad was always heavily involved, overseeing every aspect of the creative design evolution. The side diamonds are specially cut to encircle her finger. Each diamond is of the highest gem quality."
Procop and Jolie have previously worked together, designing 'The Style of Jolie' collection to raise funding for a school in Afghanistan. Jolie also has worn Procop pieces on the red carpet and her movie The Tourist.
Earlier this year, Pitt said that he won't wed Jolie until there's marriage equality. The couple have six children together.

After attending the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, he worked in repertory in Northampton, Birmingham and Oxford, and occasionally in London's West End.
Early career

In 1972, he gained national acclaim for his portrayal of Churchill in Richard Attenborough's epic film Young Winston, which featured a distinguished cast including Anthony Hopkins and Anne Bancroft.
The following year, he played the Duke of Buckingham in The Three Musketeers.

Actress Susan Penhaligon, who starred alongside Ward in The Madness of King George III, said he had been a "loyal and sympathetic friend".
"He was a witty, frighteningly clever and handsome, complex man who I worked with a lot," she said.
Ward had triumphed in the play, she said, adding: "He showed such courage because I think he was ill then; he was a very courageous man."
In 1987 he suffered a serious head injury in a street attack that was never solved.

After attending the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, he worked in repertory in Northampton, Birmingham and Oxford, and occasionally in London's West End.
Early career
Ward's break into the theatre came in 1967 when he played the lead in Joe Orton's play, Loot, which lead to television and film roles.
In 1974, Ward was cast as the author and veterinarian, James Herriot, in the original film adaptation of All Creatures Great and Small.
All Creatures Great and Small later became a successful BBC television series with actor Christopher Timothy taking the lead role played by Ward in the film adaptation.
In more recent years Ward returned to theatre, touring the country with plays such as Alan Bennett's The Madness of George III and Oscar Wilde's An Ideal Husband.
Ward's daughter is the actress, Sophie Ward; his youngest daughter, Kitty, is married to the comedian, Michael McIntyre.
Coronation Street and Keeping up Appearances actor Geoffrey Hughes has died aged 68, his agent said.
The star, famed for his role as Coronation Street binman Eddie Yates, died last night "peacefully in his sleep" after a "long courageous battle" with prostate cancer, according to his family.
Hughes also played Twiggy in TV comedy The Royle Family and Onslow in Keeping Up Appearances.
Hughes, known to millions as binman Eddie in the soap during the 1970s and 1980s, was rushed to hospital for intense radiotherapy in 2010 after collapsing at his Isle of Wight home.
The actor had thought he had beaten prostate cancer the previous year, but the star and his wife Sue were given the news the disease had returned.
Hughes, who publicly supported cancer charities, first appeared in 1960s classics such as Z-Cars and The Likely Lads and was the voice of Paul McCartney in the Beatles film The Yellow Submarine.
Other roles included Vernon in Heartbeat and Uncle Keith in teen drama Skins.
Hughes also guest-starred in episodes of Doctor Who, Casualty, Boon and The Upper Hand and left Coronation Street in 1984.
In 2009 he was appointed Deputy Lord Lieutenant for the Isle of Wight, making him "the official link between the island and royalty at formal engagements".
A Coronation Street spokeswoman today said: "We are very sad to hear of the death of Geoffrey Hughes.
"He created a legendary and iconic character in Eddie Yates who will always be part of Coronation Street.
"Everyone connected with the programme send our sincerest condolences to his family."
Tributes poured in for the actor as word spread of his death.
Long-serving Coronation Street star William Roache, who plays Ken Barlow in the soap, said: "I am so sorry to hear about Geoffrey. He was a warm, lovable actor, with great comedy timing.
"He will be greatly missed, one of the Street's memorable characters."
RIP Geoffrey :(

Best-selling Irish author Maeve Binchy has died aged 72 after a short illness.
Binchy, born in Dalkey, Co Dublin, has sold more than 40 million books. Her works were often set in Ireland and have been translated into 37 languages.
They include The Lilac Bus as well as Tara Road and Circle of Friends, which were both adapted for screen.
Binchy trained as a teacher before moving into journalism and writing, publishing her first novel - Light a Penny Candle - in 1982.
She had written the novel in her spare time from her day job as a journalist at The Irish Times.
BBC Dublin correspondent Ruth McDonald said Binchy's warm, witty, perceptive stories, were read and enjoyed around the world.
Our correspondent said the author was renowned for her generosity and support of others, writing in a guide for aspiring writers: "The most important thing to realise is that everyone is capable of telling a story.
"It doesn't matter where we were born or how we grew up".
In a 2001 interview with the BBC after she had won the WHSmith Book Award for fiction, Binchy described the five rejections she received for her first novel as "a slap in the face".
She said she was glad she persevered and sent the book to a sixth publisher.
"It's like if you don't go to a dance you can never be rejected but you'll never get to dance either," she said.
The author said that her secret was to write the way she spoke.
"I don't say I was proceeding down a thoroughfare, I say I walked down the road.
"I don't say I passed a hallowed institute of learning I say I passed a school.
"You don't wear all your jewellery at once - you're much more believable if you talk in your own voice," she said.
Lifetime achievement award
In 2000, Binchy was ranked third in the World Book Day poll of favourite authors - ahead of Jane Austen and Charles Dickens.
Binchy received a lifetime achievement award from the Irish Book Awards in 2010, the same year her last novel, Minding Frankie, was published.
She published a personal message on her website thanking fans who had praised the work:
"My health isn't so good these days and I can't travel around to meet people the way I used to. But I'm always delighted to hear from readers, even if it takes me a while to reply," she said.
Binchy is survived by her husband, writer Gordon Snell.
Irish politicians paid tribute to the author on Twitter after news of her death.
Meath East TD Regina Doherty tweeted: "Godspeed Maeve Binchy RIP lovely warm gentle lady brought much joy through all her work."
Fine Gael's Jerry Buttimer wrote that he was "so sad" to hear of her death.
RIP Maeve :(

Jean-Claude Van Damme has seemed to confirm a
long-rumoured affair with Kylie Minogue, saying he would have been "abnormal" to
pass up the opportunity.
The action star is currently promoting The
Expendables 2, in which he plays the lead villain opposite the likes of
Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis and Dolph Lundgren.
The 51-year-old told The Guardian that he and Minogue had an affair
in Thailand during the filming of 1994's Street Fighter, after originally
hinting that there had been a fling several years ago.
The Bloodsport star admitted when pressed: "Yes. OK. Yes, yes, yes. It happened. I was in Thailand,
we had an affair. Sweet kiss, beautiful lovemaking.
"It would be abnormal
not to have had an affair, she's so beautiful and she was there in front of me
every day with a beautiful smile, simpatico, so charming, she wasn't acting like
a big star. I knew Thailand very well, so I showed her my Thailand. She's a great lady."

He recently quipped that he had been feeling the effects of his wife's pregnancy almost as much as she had, saying: "I got fat. Isn't it incredible? She has to eat for two, but I've gained her weight.
"It must be the empathy. I read about it and it says that sometimes husbands suffer same effects during the pregnancy as their wife... if she was sick, I was. If she had bad mood, me too. This happened during the first three months."
Congratulations to them :cheer:

Beyoncé has been facing rumours that she is expecting a second child with husband Jay-Z.
The 'Love On Top' singer, who gave birth to daughter Blue Ivy back in January, has been the subject of intense speculation after sporting an apparent baby bump while dining out in New York this month.
http://i1.cdnds.net/12/39/showbiz_beyonce_bump.jpg
MediaTakeOut has reported that Beyoncé is around three months along, while Hollywoodlife claims the pregnancy has been confirmed to them by a source close to the star.
The latter website also published a photo from the pertinent night out of Beyoncé wearing a leopard-print dress that clings tightly around her stomach.
A representative for the 31-year-old has said they "will not comment on her personal life", while the musician's mother told Access Hollywood that another baby is "gonna happen when it's time, but not right now".
Beyoncé recently stated that she and Jay-Z "love" every aspect of being parents to Blue Ivy, including changing diapers.
The veteran actor's most famous role was as fed-up and irritable Charles Dreyfus, the boss of Peter Sellers' Inspector Clouseau
Veteran actor Herbert Lom, fondly remembered for his roles in the Pink Panther films during his half-century of movie appearances, has died at the age of 95.
The Czech-born, London-based star appeared in more than 100 films including classics such as Spartacus, El Cid and The Ladykillers.
He died peacefully in his sleep this morning, his family said.
During his career, Lom portrayed Napoleon Bonaparte on two occasions, one of which was the screen adaptation of Tolstoy's War And Peace.
But his most famous role was as fed-up and irritable Charles Dreyfus, the boss of Peter Sellers' bumbling character Inspector Clouseau in the Pink Panther films.
He first appeared as the police chief in 1964's A Shot In The Dark and, as the films went on, became increasingly mentally unstable as a result of Clouseau's incompetence.
During his career he appeared with such stars such as Kirk Douglas, Sir Alec Guinness and Charlton Heston.
Prague-born Lom moved to the UK before the Second World War and worked as a newscaster with the BBC's overseas service until his acting career took off.
The twice-married actor's first major screen role was as Napoleon in 1942 film The Young Mr Pitt, although his swarthy good looks led to him regularly being cast as a suave villain.
His son, Alec Lom, said: "Like many actors, he never wanted to be pigeon-holed in a particular role and, after having played the role of East European gangster in many films, it was a delight to him later in his career to be cast by Pink Panther producer and director Blake Edwards in a comedy role opposite Peter Sellers, and he hugely enjoyed that move.
"He had many funny stories about the antics that he and Peter Sellers got up to on the set. It was a nightmare working with Peter because he was a terrible giggler and, between my father and Peter's laughter, they ruined dozens and dozens of takes.
In the early 1950s, Lom had huge stage success as the King of Siam in the original London production of musical hit The King And I at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, opposite Valerie Hobson. The part had been made famous by Yul Brynner on Broadway, who also starred in the film version.
Other movie work included the title role in The Phantom Of The Opera in 1962, and Lom also featured in horror hits such as The Murders In The Rue Morgue and as Van Helsing in the 1970 chiller Count Dracula, which starred Christopher Lee as the famed vampire.
Lom - whose real name was Herbert Karel Angelo Kuchacevic ze Schluderpacheru - also made a number of TV appearances, which included playing a psychiatrist in the British TV drama The Human Jungle.
In addition, he had guest roles in popular US series such as The Streets Of San Francisco and Hawaii Five-O.
Earlier in his career he had been denied entry to the States and was unable to take up a seven-film Hollywood contract. Despite having taken British citizenship in the mid-1940s, he was denied a visa to enter the US in the following decade because he was suspected of being a Communist sympathiser.
He later recalled: "Everybody had Communist leanings. But I was not a lover of Communist regimes. And I admired America greatly, yet for many years I was not allowed in."
The visa problem was also in danger of scuppering his lead in The King And I as he was unable to take up the invitation to audition in New York. However, the writers, Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein, agreed to head over the border to Canada for the casting.
"They sent me a ticket, and I met them in a hotel in Toronto. A piano was pushed into the room, I sang the first verse of A Puzzlement and Oscar said 'Stop, welcome aboard'."
Lom had three children. In addition to Alec, he had another son, Nick, and a daughter, Josephine, named after the French Empress and wife of Napoleon.
Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman are separating.
The 67-year-old actor and the 'Cheers' actress - who met in 1970 and tied the knot in 1982 - are splitting after 30 years of marriage, a representative for the couple has confirmed to gossip website TMZ.com.
Danny and Rhea, 64, met when she went to see off-Broadway play, 'The Shrinking Bride', which the 'Twins' actor was appearing in.
The couple - who have three children Lucy, Grace and Jacob, together - founded production company Jersey Films, which is behind 1994 crime movie 'Pulp Fiction' as well as 'Garden State' and 'Freedom Writers'.
In 1996 fantasy film 'Matilda' Danny starred as Harry Wormwood with Rhea portraying his on-screen wife Zinnia Wormwood.
Danny and Rhea are both known for their short statures and the 'Batman Returns' star previously admitted his five-foot height may have felt like a disadvantage when he was a teenager, but it made him learn other skills to impress ladies.
He explained: ''I learned how to dance real good. I had to, because [girls didn't want to] slow dance [with me].''
Russell Crowe has split from his wife Danielle Spencer, according to reports.
The break-up between 48-year-old Crowe and Spencer, who he's been married to for nine years, is said to be "amicable", reports The Sydney Morning Herald.
Crowe and 43-year-old singer Spencer have two children together, 8-year-old Charles and 6-year-old Tennyson.
The pair met while filming the 1990 film The Crossing, and are both said to be "committed to protecting their boys" during this "tough time".
No reason has been cited for the reported split, but Crowe is said to be "throwing himself into work" following their break-up. He is currently filming Noah, a biblical film with Emma Watson.
People reports that earlier in the year, photographs emerged of Spencer with her arms around Damian Whitewood - her partner on Australia's Dancing with the Stars.
However, there has been no confirmation that this contributed to their separation.
Adele has reportedly given birth to a baby boy.
The 'Rolling in the Deep' star, who announced her pregnancy back in June, welcomed her son with partner Simon Konecki last week, The Mirror reports.
"Adele and Simon are ecstatic at their new arrival," a source said. "She was over the moon that they were expecting their first child together."
Konecki previously teased that the couple's baby is "coming so soon".
It was recently reported that Adele is renovating a home in Hove to live a low-key life with her new family.
"Neither she nor Simon wants to bring up the baby in London. They want to keep a low profile when the baby is born. I think we'll see even less of her then," an insider explained.
"Despite her millions, she is going to give the baby the most important thing of all - love. The baby is very special to have such a special lady as its mother."
A spokesman for Adele declined to comment on the reports, saying they have no plans to release a statement at this time.
Sharon Osbourne has revealed that she recently had a double mastectomy.
The former X Factor and America's Got Talent judge said that she underwent the operation after finding out that she has a gene which increases the risk of breast cancer.
"As soon as I found out I had the breast cancer gene, I thought, 'The odds are not in my favour'," she told Hello! magazine.
"I've had cancer before and didn't want to live under that cloud. I decided to take everything off and had a double mastectomy. For me, it was a no-brainer."
Osbourne - who successfully fought colon cancer in 2002 - added that she didn't want to be pitied, saying that having the mastectomy was "a decision I made that's got rid of this weight that I was carrying around".
The Talk co-host explained: "I want to be around a long time and be a grandmother to Pearl. I didn't even think of my breasts in a nostalgic way, I just wanted to live without that fear."
Osbourne's granddaughter Pearl was born earlier this year to parents Jack Osbourne and Lisa Stelly.
David Walliams is expecting his first child with wife Lara Stone.
The British comedian announced his model wife's pregnancy on Twitter this afternoon (November 15).
"Some wonderful news. My beautiful wife Lara is pregnant," he wrote. "We are having a baby!"
He added: "It is due next year and we both couldn't be happier."
The Britain's Got Talent star married the Dutch model in May 2010.
In September 2010, Walliams commented that he had hopes of having daughters with Lara Stone.
Walliams is said to have signed a deal worth around £800,000 to return to Britain's Got Talent in 2013.

Sir Elton John and David Furnish have become parents for a second time, it has been confirmed.
Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John was born in Los Angeles via a surrogate on Friday evening (January 11) and weighed 8lbs 4oz.
John and Furnish told Hello: "Both of us have longed to have children, but the reality that we now have two sons is almost unbelievable.
"The birth of our second son completes our family in a most precious and perfect way.
"It is difficult to fully express how we are feeling at this time; we are just overwhelmed with happiness and excitement."
The pair's first son Zachary was born on Christmas Day, 2010.
They were reported last week to have welcomed a second child, but the claims were swiftly denied on Friday morning - at which point Elijah had not yet been born.
The pair were rumoured to have purchased a new Los Angeles mansion in October to make room for the new addition to their family.
The 'Candle in the Wind' singer said last summer that he "definitely" wanted another child as a brother or sister to Zachary.
Joanna Page and husband James Thornton have welcomed their first child together.
The Welsh star and her actor husband announced they were expecting a baby in September 2012 via their respective Twitter pages.

"We are delighted to announce that Eva Madelief Russell was born 15th Feb, 10.58am, weighing 6lbs 8ozs," Page wrote, adding: "She's adorable!"
Thornton also tweeted: "We have had a baby girl! We are over the moon!"
Page, best known for her roles in Gavin & Stacey and Love Actually, most recently starred in Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger.
Congrats to both :)

Batey worked as a consultant and wrote some of the questions on the 2008 reboot of the show fronted by Fern Britton and Phillip Schofield.
The assistant controller of programmes for Border Television also hosted chat show Look Who's Talking between 1973 and 1985.

Journalist and broadcaster Alan Whicker has died at the age of 87 after suffering from bronchial pneumonia.
His spokeswoman said he died in the early hours of Friday morning at his home in Jersey.
With a TV career that stretched nearly six decades, he was best known for his long-running documentary series, Whicker's World.
The show, which ran from 1959 to 1988 on both the BBC and ITV, saw him travel all over the world.
The series featured Whicker reporting on the unusual and bizarre, interviewing all types of people from millionaires and monks to gangsters and dictators.
He once said he counted himself one of the luckiest men in the world because he enjoyed his work so much.

Alan Whicker
Whicker was made a CBE in 2005
After joining the British Army at the end of World War II, it was his stint as the editor of the British Army newspaper that whetted Whicker's appetite for a future in journalism.
He joined the BBC in 1957, where he became a correspondent for the flagship current affairs show Tonight.
There he was credited with bringing interview techniques like walking to camera and cutaways to television.
But it was Whicker's World, a perennially popular ratings winner, that made him a household name.
The show even inspired a famous Monty Python sketch about Whicker Island, a mythical place populated by Alan look-alikes awaiting that "inevitable interview".
Whicker moved to Jersey in the 1970s after visiting many times in the '60s, saying the slow pace of life attracted him to the island.
I loved his programmes, RIP Alan :(
Lynda Bellingham has confirmed that she has been diagnosed with cancer.
The actress and former Strictly Come Dancing contestant has postponed her appearance in Kay Mellor play A Passionate Woman to focus on her treatment and recovery.
Bellingham said: "I'm devastated not to be able to honour my commitments to the play this year. But having toured many times before, I'm aware of the sheer stamina needed and I need to prioritise my recovery.
"That said, nothing's going to stop me coming back next year, and I can't wait to be 'a passionate woman'."
No further details about the former Loose Women panelist's condition have been released at this stage.
Sheffield Theatres artistic director Daniel Evans, whose company were due to host the first stop on the tour at the Lyceum theatre this September, added: "A Passionate Woman is an extraordinary play about an extraordinary woman, and that woman is Lynda Bellingham.
"She is the heart of this production, and it's inconceivable that we would do it without her. Our priority is to Lynda and her health, and we look forward to welcoming her back soon."
Bellingham rose to fame through appearances in TV dramas such as All Creatures Great and Small and became synonymous with Oxo's TV advertising campaign, where she played the mother of a suburban family.

The couple are said to be "absolutely thrilled" by the pregnancy, with a due date of early next year, reports The Sun.
News of the pregnancy follows speculation in June when the singer was seen with his hand suggestively placed on MacDonagh's stomach.
Andre met the 23-year-old medical student through her father, a doctor who treated the singer's kidney stones in 2010.
The couple previously made it clear they want to marry, after Andre revealed: "I've never been happier."

"I started on Strictly in September and we have literally been like ships passing in the night. I'm not going to lie, it is a massive strain on the relationship."

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones have separated, it has been confirmed.
A publicist for the movie star couple told the BBC that they are "taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage".
The announcement follows reports by numerous US media outlets that Douglas and Zeta-Jones had ended their 14-year relationship.
Sources have claimed that they are still trying to work out their problems for the sake of their children, 13-year-old Dylan and 10-year-old Carys.
Douglas and Zeta-Jones have not been photographed together since April. Since then they have walked red carpets solo and gone on separate holidays, with Douglas travelling alone to Sardinia, Italy in recent weeks.
The pair had denied previous claims of a trial separation in February.
Douglas and Zeta-Jones started dating in 1999 and married in November the following year.

Ex-Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins has pleaded guilty to a number of sex offences, including two counts of attempting to rape an 11-month old baby.
The 36-year-old, from Pontypridd, had been charged with 24 sex offences and the trial began today (November 26) at Cardiff Crown Court. He appeared in court alongside two female co-defendants, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

Prosecuting barrister Chris Clee QC told the court of Watkins: "He accepts he was a determined and committed paedophile."
He added of the co-defendants: "Both women sexually abused their own children and made them available to Watkins for him to abuse."
Mr Justice Royce told the jury: "There will not be a trial in this case. The defendants have all pleaded guilty to nearly all the charges against them. The prosecution does not seek a trial in these circumstances.
"You have been saved from having to watch extremely graphic and distressing material."
Watkins denied two counts of raping an 11-month-old baby, but admitted two counts of attempting to rape the child. This was accepted by the prosecution. :angry::angry:
He also pleaded guilty to conspiracy to rape a child aged under 13, and conspiring to sexually assault a child under the age of 13.
The musician admitted several charges of possessing indecent photographs of children as well and two counts of taking indecent photographs of children dating back to 2007 and 2008. Watkins also pleaded guilty to possession of extreme pornography of a person engaged in a sex act with an animal.
He also admitted aiding and abetting one of the female co-defendants to sexually assault a child under the age of 13.
The initial charges included two separate counts of raping a baby, as well as conspiracy to rape another child, one count of sexual assault, one of aiding and abetting sexual assault by penetration and conspiracy to sexually assault a child.
Watkins, who had initially denied all 24 charges, will be sentenced on December 18.
The evidence presented in court came from mobile phones and computers and the court was told that Watkins filmed the episodes of abuse.
One of Watkins's co-defendants pleaded guilty to attempted rape of a baby after denying rape. She also admitted two counts of sexual assault and one of distributing an indecent photograph of a child.
The other pleaded guilty to conspiring to rape a child, three sexual assault charges and four charges of taking, possessing or distributing indecent images.
The Professionals star Lewis Collins has died aged 67, his agent has said.
The actor, who played Bodie in the cult 1970s TV series, alongside Martin Shaw, died in Los Angeles after a five-year struggle with cancer.
His agent said: "He died peacefully at his LA home surrounded by his family. Privacy is asked for at this very sad time."
The Professionals was based around the adventures of a fictional crime fighting unit called CI5.
The ITV show became huge hit in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Collins's other notable roles included SAS captain Peter Skellen in 1982's Who Dares Wins.
Collins was quoted as saying Cubby Broccoli found him too "aggressive" to play Bond
Shaw, currently appearing in a West End production of 12 Angry Men, said he was saddened by the news of his co-star's death.
"We spent a very tough four years together in making the Professionals, and shared in the production of what has become an icon of British television," he said.
"He will be remembered as part of the childhood of so many people, and mourned by his fans. I send my love and condolences to his family, and the great many who will miss him."
Bond audition
Collins was born in May 1946 in Cheshire, and worked as a drummer and a hairdresser before breaking into acting.
Early work included roles in popular TV series such as Z Cars and The New Avengers, as well as a recurring role in The Cuckoo Waltz.
However, he became a household name with the debut of The Professionals in 1977, which ran for six years and won him a global following as hard man William Bodie.
Towards the end of The Professionals, Collins played the lead in the British thriller Who Dares Wins, as an SAS soldier who infiltrates a terrorist group.
Collins eventually moved to Los Angeles where he ran a successful computer business
Around this time, he auditioned for the role of James Bond: "I was in Albert R Broccoli's office for five minutes, but it was really over for me in seconds," he is reported to have said.
"He's expecting another Connery to walk through the door and there are few of them around."
Unlike his co-star, Collins was never able to match his success in The Professionals.
He continued working across the '80s and '90s and was last seen on screen in 2002 in The Bill.
Former Doctor Who star Colin Baker tweeted: "Sad to hear that Lewis Collins has died. He was the year below me at drama school. Had style!"
Brian Conley, who co-starred with Collins in the 1999 TV series The Grimleys, also paid his respects: "God bless Lewis Collins, my dad in The Grimleys. A great actor and a lovely man."
"The man who should have been Bond," tweeted Gary Kemp. "RIP Lewis Collins. You were supercool."
Collins leaves his wife, Michelle - whom he married in 1992 - and three sons.
The Professionals is currently being re-run on ITV4.

Former Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins has been jailed for 29 years, with a further six on licence, after admitting vile sex crimes against young children including attempting to rape a baby.
The shamed rock star pleaded guilty last month to 13 offences after dramatically changing his pleas on the day he was set to stand trial at Cardiff Crown Court.
This afternoon he was jailed for 29 years, with six years extended licence. He will have to serve at least two-thirds of the 29 years before he is considered for release.
There were cheers in the public gallery as the sentence was handed down by Mr Justice Royce, and Watkins was seen visibly shaking as he left the dock.
Prosecutor Chris Clee QC described him as a "determined and committed paedophile", while Mr Justice Royce said what he and his co-defendants did "plumbs new depths of depravity", and he had shown "evident delight" in abusing children.
The judge said the singer had displayed "an almost complete lack of remorse" for his behaviour, and posed a "significant risk" to young women and children.
And on hearing Watkins had told a probation officer he did not know what lengths he would have gone to with children had he not been arrested, Mr Justice Royce added: "It's difficult to imagine anything much worse."
"I am satisfied that you are a deeply corrupting influence. You are highly manipulative.
"You are a sexual predator. You are dangerous. The public, and in particular young females and children, need protection from you."
Earlier, the court had also heard how even after Watkins had admitted his horrific acts, he referred to them as "megalolz" and said "nobody got hurt".
Ringing a friend from prison the day after entering his guilty pleas, Watkins said: "It was like either me go up there and say 'Come on, it wasn't that bad, nobody got hurt'.
"I do my charm or do I end up making things worse for myself or do I just say I was off my head and can't remember?"
Discussing his possible sentence, he added: "I'm going to put out a statement on the 18th now (the day of his sentencing) just to say it was mega lolz, I don't know what everyone is getting so freaked out about."

Shirley Temple has died aged 85, her family have confirmed.
The actress, who rose to fame as a child star in 1930s classics such as Bright Eyes (famed for song "On The Good Ship Lollipop"), Heidi and Curly Top, passed away at her home in Woodside, California on Monday.
She is believed to have died from natural causes.
“She was surrounded by her family and caregivers,” a statement from the family read.
“We salute her for a life of remarkable achievements as an actor, as a diplomat, and... our beloved mother, grandmother [and] great-grandmother.”
Starting her career at the tender age of three, she won the Juvenile Academy Award in 1935. To this day, she remains the youngest person ever to have won an Oscar.
Her image inspired a various range of merchandise, including dolls and clothing in her early years, but she quit the film industry in her teens.
The American Film Institute ranks her as the 18th greatest US screen legends of all time.
Temple was born to a banker father and a housewife mother on 23 April 1928 in Santa Monica California, with two older siblings.
She landed a contract with Educational Pictures at just three years old, and made her acting debut in a string of low-budget movies, then dubbed ‘Baby Burlesques’.
Her mother helped develop her skills in dancing too, and signed her up for lessens by the time she was four. Her father became her astute financial adviser and also her agent.
From starring in ‘Baby Burlesques’, she was able to score a contract with Fox Film Corporation, and by the time she was six, she had appeared in her first Hollywood feature-length, Carolina.
Shirley Temple as she appears in 'The Littlest Rebel' directed by David Butler, 1935 Shirley Temple as she appears in 'The Littlest Rebel' directed by David Butler, 1935 Temple made a further eight films with Fox, including Little Miss Marker and, thanks to her cherubic optimism and bouncing gold girls, she quickly became one of the studio’s top earners.
President Franklin Delano Roosevelt once called Temple “Little Miss Miracle”, thanks to her part in raising public morale during times of economic hardship.
“As long as our country has Shirley Temple, we will be all right," he famously said.
However, her popularity waned as she began to mature and with it left her audience. As a teenager, she starred in The Blue Bird in 1940, which bombed at the box office.
She also co-starred opposite Cary Grant and Myrna Loy in The Bachelor and the Bobby Soxer at the age of 19, and appeared opposite John Wayne in Fort Apache in 1948. But by 1950, she only made a handful of appearances on the small screen, and had all but retired from Hollywood.
But as her career in the entertainment industry drew to a close, she started afresh with a career in public service.
She ran for Congress in 1967, and from 1969 to 1970, she served as a US ambassador to the United Nations.
She was appointed the ambassador of Ghana in 1974 and, two years later, became the chief of protocol of the United States, a position she held until 1977.
Further still, she became the only person to this day to reach the rank of honorary Foreign Service officer of the United States.
Between 1989 and 1992, she served another public service role as the ambassador for Czechoslovakia.

Finney - known as 'the Preston Plumber' - is regarded as one of the greatest players to represent England. He won 76 caps and scored 30 goals, putting him joint sixth on the all-time England goalscoring list with Nat Lofthouse and Alan Shearer.
He made 473 appearances for Preston between 1946 and 1960, scoring 210 goals playing on the wing or as a striker. He won the Second Division title in 1950-1, League Championship runners-up medals in 1953 and 1958 and an FA Cup runners-up medal in 1954. He was the first man to be voted 'Footballer of the Year' twice.
After his playing career finished in 1960, he returned to his former trade as a plumber, before becoming a newspaper columnist.
He was awarded the OBE in 1961, and was knighted at Buckingham Palace in 1998.
In a club statement Preston North End said: "We have been informed of the extremely sad news of the passing of Sir Tom Finney.
"Sir Tom was the greatest player to ever play for Preston North End and one of the all-time greats for England. The thoughts of everyone at the club, and those connected with it, are with his family at this time."
Sky Sports' Martin Tyler said: "He scored plenty of goals, he made plenty of goals and he was a one-club man at Preston. And he had a job as well, as a plumber.
"His reputation as a footballer and as a man was top class. I met him a few times, obviously after his playing days and you couldn't ask for a more modest man about his own talent. I think he goes down as one of the great British players of the twentieth century. His greatest quality was his humility."
Finney was born in Preston in 1922 - a street away from Deepdale - and his football career began late because of the Second World War, in which he served as a tank driver. His footballing skills did however become widely known during his army service.
He made his North End debut at the age of 24 in 1946, and less than a month later he made his England debut - he scored in both games.
He played for England for 12 years, becoming the country's record goalscorer with his 30th and final international goal. Sir Bobby Charlton beat his record in 1963.
He maintained his long association with Preston, becoming the club's president. His image is printed on seats in the Sir Tom Finney Stand at Deepdale and his statue is outside the ground.
Gary Lineker, second on the all-time England goalscoring list, tweeted: "One of the greatest players this country has ever seen, and a true gentleman."
Past tributes from other greats are listed on Finney's website.
Liverpool legend Bill Shankly said: "Tom Finney would have been great in any team, in any match and in any age... even if he had been wearing an overcoat."
Sir Stanley Matthews said: "To dictate the pace and course of a game, a player has to be blessed with awesome qualities. Those who have accomplished it on a regular basis can be counted on the fingers of one hand -Pele, Maradona, Best, Di Stefano, and Tom Finney."
And Sir Bobby Charlton said: "Sir Tom Finney was one of the greatest footballers there has ever been; he was the type of player that people would travel a long way to see...one of the world's top players without question."
Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, on Finney's 90th birthday in 2012, said: "My first experience of Sir Tom Finney is not one of joy - as I stood on the terraces of Hampden Park and watched him giving one of my heroes in the Scotland team, Sammy Cox, a roasting.
"Winding forward all these years and actually meeting the man restores any lost faith you might have in humanity as he is such a wonderful person and so humble. Why can't we all be like that? A credit to the town of Preston, his football club and his family."

Former Cabinet minister and veteran left-wing campaigner Tony Benn has died at home, his family has said.
The 88-year-old former Labour MP had been seriously ill.
Mr Benn became an MP in November 1950 and served in the Cabinet under Harold Wilson and James Callaghan.
A major figure on the left of the party, he narrowly missed out on the deputy leadership in 1981 and went on to be a popular public speaker, anti-war campaigner and political diarist.
In a statement his children Stephen, Hilary, Melissa and Joshua said Mr Benn died peacefully early this morning at his home in west London surrounded by his family.
"We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all the NHS staff and carers who have looked after him with such kindness in hospital and at home," the family said.
"We will miss above all his love which has sustained us throughout our lives. But we are comforted by the memory of his long, full and inspiring life and so proud of his devotion to helping others as he sought to change the world for the better."
They said arrangements for his funeral will be announced in due course.
'He treated me as an equal'
Labour leader Ed Miliband led the tributes to an "iconic figure of our age".
"He will be remembered as a champion of the powerless, a great parliamentarian and a conviction politician," Mr Miliband said.
"Tony Benn spoke his mind and spoke up for his values. Whether you agreed with him or disagreed with him, everyone knew where he stood and what he stood for."

Tributes to the veteran politician have been paid by Prime Minister David Cameron and Ed Miliband, leader of the Labour party
Mr Miliband revealed he paid a visit to Mr Benn in hospital recently, describing him as being "as sharp as ever in mind".
He said: "As I left he said to me 'Well, old son. Let's have a proper talk when you have more time'."
He added: "He believed in movements and mobilised people behind him for the causes he cared about, often unfashionable ones. In a world of politics that is often too small, he thought big about our country and our world.
"Above all, as I had cause to know, he was an incredibly kind man. I did work experience with him at the age of 16. I may have been just a teenager but he treated me as an equal.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin have split after 10 years of marriage.
The actress, 41, and the Coldplay frontman, 37, made the announcement on her website Goop, under a post named 'Conscious Uncoupling'.
They wrote: "It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate. We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate.
"We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been. We are parents first and foremost, to two incredibly wonderful children and we ask for their and our space and privacy to be respected at this difficult time.
"We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and coparent, we will be able to continue in the same manner."
Posting a photo of the two of them in happier times, they signed it: "Love, Gwyneth & Chris."
Paltrow and Martin have two children together, Apple, 9, and Moses, 7.
The Iron Man actress began dating Martin in October 2002, weeks after the death of her father Bruce Paltrow from cancer.
They dated for just over a year before tying the knot in December 2003 at a California hotel.
The two were rumoured to be planning to return to the UK last November, after briefly living in a property they purchased in Los Angeles over the last year.
Paltrow previously credited the tabloid press with bringing her together with husband Martin, saying: "It's funny because people had started writing that we were going out and we had never even met.
"He was in Los Angeles doing a concert and an actress that he had a crush on was supposed to come to the concert. When she didn't show up, he was so annoyed that he said, 'Oh, this is for my girlfriend Gwyneth Paltrow'."

TV presenter Peaches Geldof, second daughter of musician Bob Geldof and Paula Yates, has died aged 25.
Police say they were called to an address near Wrotham, Kent following a report of concern for the welfare of a woman on Monday afternoon.
The woman, aged 25, was later pronounced dead by South East Coast Ambulance Service.
"At this stage, the death is being treated as unexplained and sudden," said a statement from Kent Police.
Peaches Geldof
Geldof was pictured at a fashion show in London last week
Born in 1989, Peaches Honeyblossom Geldof embarked on a media career at the age of 15, when she began writing a column for Elle magazine.
She left home at sixteen and went on to contribute to the Telegraph and the Guardian, and presented TV shows including ITV2's OMG! with Peaches Geldof.
She also worked as a model and, just last week, attended a launch for Tesco's F&F clothing range in London.
She was married to musician Thomas Cohen, with whom she had two sons, Astala, one, and Phaedra, who will turn one on 24 April.
'Numb'
Geldof lost her own mother when she was just 11 years old. Paula Yates died of a drug overdose in September 2000.
Speaking to Elle Magazine in 2013, Peaches said she had not come to terms with Yates's death for several years.
"I remember the day my mother died, and it's still hard to talk about it. I just blocked it out. I went to school the next day because my father's mentality was 'keep calm and carry on'," she said.
"So we all went to school and tried to act as if nothing had happened. But it had happened. I didn't grieve. I didn't cry at her funeral. I couldn't express anything because I was just numb to it all. I didn't start grieving for my mother properly until I was maybe 16."
Geldof said she had experimented with drugs as a teenager, but was "never that wild".
She was previously married to rock musician Max Drummey but the pair separated in 2009 after a six-month marriage.
Her last tweet, posted on Sunday was a picture of her as a baby in her mother's arms.
She leaves her husband and sons; father Bob Geldof; sisters Fifi Trixibelle and Pixie; and younger half-sister, Tiger Lily Hutchence Geldof.
i thought she coped on when she has kids, i wonder was it drugs or suicide?
rest in peace - feel for her kids and family

Mickey Rooney, the child actor who became the world's top box office star, has died aged 93.
Born in Brooklyn, he began his career aged 18 months in his parents' vaudeville act, Yule and Carter, and continued filming right to the end.
In a film and musical career spanning nine decades, Rooney was nominated for four Academy Awards and received two special Oscars for his body of work.
By 1965, Mickey Rooney's 200 films had earned more than $3bn (£1.8bn).
Sir Laurence Olivier once referred to him as the greatest film actor America ever produced.
Rooney's death was first reported by US entertainment magazine Variety. The actor is said to have been ill for some time.
Los Angeles Police Commander Andrew Smith said Rooney was with his family when he died at his North Hollywood home.
Reckless lifestyle
Smith said police took a death report but added that there was nothing suspicious and it was not a police case.
Star Trek actor William Shatner was one of the first to pay tribute to Rooney on Twitter, describing the actor as "one of the greats!"
Broadway star Carol Channing said: "I loved working with Mickey on Sugar Babies. He was very professional, his stories were priceless and I love them all... each and every one. We laughed all the time."
Rooney was married eight times, including a first marriage to screen beauty Ava Gardner.
He separated from his last wife, Jan, in 2012. They married in 1978.

True to his word, he continued to work in film, television and theatre up until his death
Asked once if he would marry all his wives again, Rooney replied: "Absolutely. I loved every one of them."
Initially named Joe Yule Junior, he was barely six years old when he had his first film role as a cigar-smoking adult in Orchids and Ermine.
In 1937, the actor took the part of Andy Hardy in the film A Family Affair. Playing the son of a small-town judge proved a huge box-office draw, and spawned a hit series lasting eight years.
At the same time, a series of barnyard musicals - including Babes on Broadway and Strike Up the Band - paired him with another celebrated youth star, Judy Garland.
By 1939, Rooney was established as the film industry's top box office draw and that year, at the age of 19, he became the youngest person to be nominated for a best actor Oscar for his role in Babes on Broadway.
His other Oscar nominations were for The Human Comedy (1943), The Bold and the Brave (1956) and The Black Stallion (1979).
Rooney joined the Army in 1943, spending most of his World War II service entertaining troops.

Carolyn Hockett: 1967 - 1975
Jan Chamberlin: 1978 - 2014 (separated 2012)
On his return, he went on to enjoy international triumph alongside Elizabeth Taylor in the 1944 movie National Velvet.
But despite his success, Rooney admitted his fame had forced him to grow up too quickly. By the time he was 30, he said he felt 100 years old.
Rooney appeared in four TV series during his career, including The Mickey Rooney Show in the 1950s.
But his star was on the wane, as he dropped from leading man to second man in films such as Military Policeman with Bob Hope and Korean war drama The Bridges at Toko-Ri alongside William Holden and Grace Kelly the following year.
The show business legend was declared bankrupt by the early 1960s, with much of his money spent on maintenance for his ex-wives and a reckless lifestyle.
However, his career enjoyed a revival with the film Pete's Dragon in 1977, and his show Sugar Babies, which hit Broadway in the late 1970s.
True to his motto to "never retire but inspire", Rooney continued to work in film, television and theatre.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, at the time of his death, Rooney was working on a film called The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
And Night at the Museum 3 director Shawn Levy tweeted that Rooney had shot scenes for the film just last month.

Former Radio 1 presenter Mike Smith has died in hospital at the age of 59.
The broadcaster and qualified helicopter pilot had complications connected to recent major heart surgery.
He was married to fellow television personality Sarah Greene for 25 years.
In a statement released through Smith's aerial filming company Flying TV, Ms Greene said she would "like to offer enormous thanks to the staff at the hospital for their care and compassion".
The statement said Ms Greene has asked that she, her family and friends be allowed to mourn in peace.
A Flying TV spokesman said: "Mike founded Flying TV ten years ago and the company says his legacy will be FTV continuing to go from strength to strength."
Smith's career began at hospital radio before joining BBC Radio 1 in 1975.
In 1983, Smith took over the weekday lunchtime show and took on the Breakfast Show in 1986, succeeding Mike Read.
Paying tribute, Read said: "The news is just devastating. Sarah and Mike were a wonderful couple - it is truly horrible to hear."
"He became a mainstay of Radio 1, was highly successful on television too, and started up his own business which he was very good at.
"Mike was a very affable guy, fantastically business-like. It's a real loss and has come as quite a shock."
Smith was a key figure in the early years of Comic Relief but largely stayed away from the limelight after a helicopter crash in 1988 in which both he and his then-girlfriend Ms Greene were injured.
The helicopter he was piloting crashed in Gloucestershire. Ms Greene broke both legs and an arm, and Smith suffered a broken back and ankle.
He proposed to her just weeks later and they were married the following year.
They were childless and lived in London.

He ended up leading a power-sharing executive at Stormont - although he had supported the strike to bring one down 30 years earlier.
In her statement, Baroness Paisley said: "Although ours is the grand hope of reunion, naturally as a family, we are heartbroken," she said.
"We loved him and he adored us and our earthly lives are forever changed."
Baroness Paisley said that his funeral would be private.

Singer and songwriter Lynsey de Paul has died at the age of 64, following a suspected brain haemorrhage.
De Paul, who represented the UK in the 1977 Eurovision Song Contest with the song Rock Bottom, had five top 20 UK chart hits, including 1972's Sugar Me.
She became the first woman to win an Ivor Novello award for songwriting.
"Although she was small in stature, she was very big in positive personality," said her agent Michael Joyce. "She was always so positive about everything."
"Sad news of Lynsey De Paul, beautiful and talented singer/songwriter," tweeted actor John Challis, best known as Boycie in Only Fools and Horses. "Storm in a Teacup, one of my favourite songs."
Broadcaster and writer Gyles Brandeth called de Paul "gifted, funny, sparky, charming". "A lovely talent & person," he wrote on Twitter.
Her sense of humour informed her close friendship with Spike Milligan, who reportedly nicknamed the diminutive star 'Looney De Small'.
De Paul, who broke into the music scene in 1971, followed up her Sugar Me hit with Getting a Drag, reaching number 18 in the charts.

Lynsey De Paul
De Paul had a long relationship with actor James Coburn
Her 1973 hit Won't Somebody Dance With Me won her her first Ivor Novello award.
A second Ivor Novello Award followed a year later for No Honestly, which was also the theme tune to the ITV comedy of the same name, starring Pauline Collins and John Alderton.
She also wrote the theme to Esther Rantzen's BBC One series Hearts Of Gold.
Paying tribute, Rantzen, who fronted the show, called her "a renaissance woman".
"She could do everything - she could sing, she could compose, she was an immensely talented artist," she said.
"She became a huge star but she was also a loyal and generous friend. It's an absolutely tragic loss."
De Paul never married but was romantically linked to a string of well-known men including Sean Connery, Dudley Moore and Ringo Starr.
An interview with the Mail in 2007 revealed she had five offers of marriage, including one from James Coburn and another from Chas Chandler, bassist with The Animals.

Lynsey De Paul with Mike Moran in the 1977 Eurovision Song Contest
De Paul became a popular star across Europe in the 1970s
She reached the height of her popularity in the mid-1970s, with number one hits in Switzerland, Spain, Belgium and the Netherlands - although never the UK.
However, her popularity waned in the late 1970s although she continued to compose and perform, famously singing her own song at the Conservative Party conference in 1983.
She also starred in celebrity quiz shows such as Blankety Blank and more recently, reality shows including Cash in the Attic and Come Dine With Me.
In 1992, De Paul presented a documentary about women's self-defence, called Eve Fights Back, which won a Royal Television Society award.
The singer had spoken previously of her abusive childhood, and her history of violent relationships.
Her niece, Olivia Rubin, told the Times her death was "completely unexpected".
"She was a vegetarian, she didn't smoke, she didn't drink - she was amazing, in fact."
"Am in utter shock at sudden death of my friend Lynsey de Paul," echoed comedian Russell Kane, on Twitter. "We were chatting in the post office just two weeks ago. Can't believe it."
Actress Lynda Bellingham, famous for long-running role as mother in Oxo TV adverts, dies in husband's arms after battle with cancer

Actress and presenter Lynda Bellingham, who had been suffering from cancer, has died in her husband's arms.
The 66-year-old star, best known for her long-running role as a mother in the Oxo TV adverts, had been battling colon cancer, which later spread to her lungs and liver, since being diagnosed in July last year.
She died in the arms of her husband Michael in hospital on Sunday, her agent Sue Latimer said.
The actress said she decided to end her treatment on August 13 to limit the amount of suffering her family would witness.
In a statement on behalf of Bellingham's family, her agent, Sue Latimer, said: "Lynda died peacefully in her husband's arms yesterday evening at a London hospital.
"Her family, to whom she was devoted, would like to thank the nurses and staff for their tremendous care and support.
"As an actor, writer and presenter, Lynda was a consummate professional to the very end.
"Those of us privileged to have known her personally will miss the entertaining, life enhancing, true and honest friend that blessed our lives."
The actress openly discussed her decision to stop her cancer treatment earlier this year.
She was one of the presenters of ITV's Loose Women and told her co-hosts she was "in a good place" when she made the decision, saying: "It is essential to feel you have some control of your life."
In an emotional message, she told viewers: "Grasp it all, don't be afraid, enjoy the bits you can and tell your family you love them while you have the chance."
The actress was diagnosed with colon cancer little over a year ago, which later spread to her lungs and liver.
Ms Bellingham, who married Michael Pattemore in 2008, opted to end her chemotherapy treatment.
Poignantly, she said she wanted to spend one last Christmas with her family and hopefully die in January 2015.
Ms Bellingham's decision to end her treatment was revealed in a newspaper serialisation of her forthcoming autobiography.
She said: "The decision to give up chemo was a huge relief because I took back some control of myself. It's there on the table if I want it.
"I don't want the boys or my husband to see me die a little sad old lady. I want to go out there as I am."
She said she wanted her autobiography to be "uplifting", adding: "I wrote the book for everybody out there.
"It's not supposed to be an embarrassing account of me having terminal cancer.
"I wanted to write it for everybody who is given that curveball and say of course there are no answers but, if you can, take it and make it positive and talk about dying.
"If two people read this book and think 'Actually, that's how I feel and I'm not on my own', then I'll have done something half decent."
Ms Bellingham, who took part in the 2009 series of Strictly Come Dancing, was also a panellist on ITV show Loose Women in recent years.
She filmed a special farewell episode of the ITV show, which is yet to air, in which she received a standing ovation.
She also presented a number of other programmes, following an acting career which saw her star in dramas such as At Home With The Braithwaites and The Bill.
RIP Lynda :(

"I was in the bathroom listening to the radio when it came on that [Lynda] had passed away," she recalled. "It was just so shocking and deeply upsetting. She was such a nice person.
"It made me think how lucky I am. I had breast cancer and underwent surgery in August. I also had radiotherapy but I haven't needed chemotherapy.
"I'm lucky because the lump was quite tiny and we managed to catch it early. Of course, it was nowhere near as serious as what we've seen happen with Lynda.
"I feel like there's a future for me and I'm really pleased. But I feel guilty - I'm one of the lucky ones."
The 75-year-old actress also described Bellingham as a "wonderful person", who worked hard, did a lot for charity and was also very stylish.
"When I heard her talk on the radio, I thought it was one of the bravest things I've heard," Taylor continued. "The way she spoke about it really got me.
"She was a wonderful person. Off the screen and stage, she was exactly the same smashing woman."
Taylor appeared as Anne Foster in Coronation Street from 2011 until 2012. She also starred as the titular character in ITV sitcom Barbara and had a role in Heartbeat.
After being diagnosed with cancer last year, Bellingham passed away earlier this week (October 19) at the age of 66.
Famous as the Oxo mum and for her roles in Doctor Who, All Creatures Great and Small, The Bill and more, Bellingham also was a regular panellist on Loose Women for several years.

Singer Alvin Stardust has died aged 72 after a short illness.
He had recently been diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer and died at home with his wife, Julie, and family around him, his manager said.
Born Bernard Jewry in the East End of London in 1942, his hits included My Coo Ca Choo, Jealous Mind and I Feel Like Buddy Holly.
The former glam rock star had been due to release his first studio album in 30 years on 3 November.
He recently announced the record, titled Alvin, was finished and would represent "a new and exciting departure" of which he was "immensely proud".
Stardust grew up in Mansfield and started playing guitar as a schoolboy. He met one of his biggest influences, Buddy Holly, at a gig in Doncaster and played backstage with the singer and his band the Crickets.
He signed his first record deal in 1961 as the frontman of Shane Fenton and the Fentones, though the band struggled to get in the charts.
In 1973 he signed with Magnet Records and took on the name that would make him famous.
"It started off as Elvin Starr, because they wanted a kind of rocky, country name," he recalled in 2010.
"But [a woman] who was doing promotion for us said it wasn't 'glam-rocky' enough, so it became Stardust and then Alvin."
The singer previously recorded under the name Shane Fenton
My Coo Ca Choo, the debut song under his new guise, peaked at number two in the UK singles chart.
Known for his rockabilly quiff, sideburns and black gloves, he projected a glowering persona he said he adopted because he was nervous and "didn't want to be found out".
His success led to him being part of a Green Cross Code road safety campaign in 1976, which saw him instructing children to look both ways before they crossed the road.
That success continued into the 1980s with Pretend, I Feel Like Buddy Holly and I Won't Run Away all making the top 10.
Once described as "the Godfather of British Rock 'n' Roll" by Rolling Stone Keith Richards, he made sporadic acting appearances in Hollyoaks, The Grimleys and Doctors.
He also appeared on stage in such musicals as Godspell, The Phantom of the Opera and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the London Palladium, in which he played the fearsome Child Catcher.
Stardust was married three times. His first wife was Iris Caldwell, with whom he had two sons, Shaun and Adam.
His second wife was the actress Liza Goddard, with whom he had a daughter named Sophie.
"RIP Alvin Stardust," Goddard tweeted on Thursday. "Thank you for our beautiful daughter and granddaughter."
Stardust went on to marry Julie Paton, an actress and choreographer, with whom he had a daughter, Millie.

Alvin Stardust talks to BBC Breakfast in 2010
Shaun is now a headmaster of a school in Reigate, while his brother is a producer and DJ who records under the name Adam F.
DJ Tony Blackburn remembered the singer as "a great showman" who would be "sorely missed". "Performing was his life," added the veteran broadcaster.
"He had this bad boy image, but he was not like that at all," Blackburn continued. "On stage he was brilliant, but off stage he was just an ordinary guy."
Stardust, a committed Christian, was also remembered as "a great bloke" by his former Hollyoaks co-star Jeremy Edwards.
"RIP Alvin Stardust, the original landlord of the Dog in the Pond," the actor wrote on Twitter, referring to the Channel 4 series' fictional public house.
"I may not have known him long, but even in that short time he proved to be one of the most genuine and likeable men I've ever met," said the singer's manager Andy Davies.
"His passing is a huge and sad loss."
RIP Alvin :(

Nimoy revealed last year that he was suffering from the disease, caused by smoking in his younger years. He had been treated in hospital earlier this week.
Nimoy began his career in the early '50s teaching acting and appearing in B movies, such as 1952'a Kid Monk Baroni, and TV roles. He also served in the United States Army in 1953.
In 1965, Nimoy played Mr Spock for the first time in the rejected Star Trek pilot 'The Cage'. He retained the role when the show was taken to series and portrayed the character on the small screen until 1969.
After success as Spock, Nimoy played Paris for two season on Mission: Impossible and appeared in Invasion of the Body Snatchers before Star Trek: The Motion Picture brought the original cast to the big screen in 1979.
Nimoy played Spock in several more sequels, directing '80s outings Star Trek III: The Search for Spock and Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.
After a long absence from the role, he returned to play Spock twice more in JJ Abrams's Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek Into Darkness. Nimoy's 'Spock Prime' provided a bridge between the classic Trek and the new timeline led by Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto.
Nimoy's other notable acting parts include the Abrams-produced TV series Fringe and voice roles in Transformers: The Movie and The Simpsons monorail episode.

Very sad news, he had a lot of qualities as a politician that a good many in politics could do with following.
Big band leader James Last has died in Florida, aged 86.
The German-born musician's manager said he died at his home "peacefully and in the presence of his family".
Last sold millions of records with his trademark "happy music" and was a regular fixture on British TV for many years.
He appeared at the Royal Albert Hall in the spring as part of a farewell tour he announced after becoming seriously ill last year.
The illness, which took a "life-threatening" turn last September, apparently forced him to face the fact that "a man full of plans, needs to not just slow down but give up his life on tour altogether".
But he said the tour would give him the opportunity to bid farewell to his fans.
"The main thing is that my fans have the best concerts of their lives and we will make this our 'happiest' concert yet," he said when he announced the tour in February.

Last started his music career in the 1960s, making instrumental recordings as James Last and His Orchestra - a big band with additional strings and a choir.
Over his career he produced 75 hit albums in Britain alone, and at his peak, was creating two albums a month.
The BBC spoke to the musician in March as he performed his final British shows - his 89th and 90th concerts at London's Royal Albert Hall.
"I can't talk about goodbye - it's a terrible feeling," he said.

Patrick Macnee, famous for his role on “The Avengers” British TV series, died Thursday of natural causes at his home in Rancho Mirage, Calif. He was 93.
Macnee, who played John Steed in the spy-fi show, died with his family at his bedside.
“Wherever he went, he left behind a trove of memories,” a statement on the actor’s website read. “Patrick Macnee was a popular figure in the television industry. He was at home wherever in the world he found himself. He had a knack for making friends, and keeping them.”
“The Avengers” initially focused on Dr. David Keel (Ian Hendry) and his assistant (Macnee), but Macnee’s famously bowler hat wearing, umbrella-wielding intelligence officer (he never used a gun) became the protagonist when Hendry exited the series. Macnee played the part alongside a succession of strong, female partners, including Honor Blackman, Diana Rigg and Joanna Lumley. The show ran from 1961 and 1969 and was reprised in the 1970s.
The series was unsuccessfully adapted for the bigscreen in 1998 in a film that starred Ralph Fiennes as John Steed and Uma Thurman as his female partner and Sean Connery as the villain they faced.
The original “Avengers” TV series is still broadcast all over the world.
Macnee also made guest appearances on “Columbo,” “Battlestar Galactica,” “The Love Boat” and “Frasier.”
On the film side, he appeared in Laurence Olivier’s “Hamlet,” the 1951 version of “A Christmas Carol,” “This Is Spinal Tap,” and the 1985 James Bond film “A View to a Kill.”
Macnee is survived by a son and a daughter as well as a grandson.

Actor Stephen Lewis, best known for his role as officious inspector "Blakey" in 1970s sitcom On the Buses, has died aged 88, his family has announced.
Lewis also played "Smiler" in the BBC's Last of the Summer Wine.
Born in east London in 1926, he got his start at the Theatre Royal Stratford East under the famous Joan Littlewood.
According to his family, the actor died "quite peacefully" in a nursing home in Wanstead, east London, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
In his role as Inspector Cyril "Blakey" Blake, Lewis constantly clashed, and was usually unwitted by, Reg Varney's wily bus driver Stan Butler.
One of his catchphrases was "I'll get you for this, Butler" - one he was happy to repeat, according to the manager of the nursing home where he lived out his final years.
The popular sitcom ran from 1969 to 1973 and spawned three big-screen spin-offs: On the Buses, Mutiny on the Buses and Holiday on the Buses.
Lewis's other sitcoms included Don't Drink the Water, On the Buses' short-lived, Spain-based sequel, and the BBC's railway-themed Oh, Mr Beeching!

Very sad news. Stephen Lewis was great as Blakey. "I 'ate you Butler."
"It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the death of our beautiful, dynamic and one of a kind mother," her family told People. More than 500 million copies of Collins' books have been sold.
RIP Jackie, I have enjoyed reading many of your books

Glasgow-born singer-songwriter Jim Diamond, who had hits including I Should Have Known Better, has died aged 64.
He first entered the UK singles charts in 1982 with the song I Won't Let You Down - recorded with his band Ph.D.
He went on to achieve international success with I Should Have Known Better and Hi-Ho Silver, the theme tune for ITV series Boon.
His family said they were "deeply shocked by his sudden death".
He passed away at his home in London.
A family spokesman added: "He was a devoted family man who loved his wife Chrissy and his children Sara and Lawrence, and the music that he continued to make.
"He dedicated a lot of time over recent years to the Cash for Kids charity appeal in Scotland with his friend Sir Tom Hunter and was still active and well respected on the music scene.
"He'll be much missed by all who knew him and everyone who loved his music and his unique voice and style."
'Scotland's Ray Charles'
Born in Glasgow's East End, Diamond was influenced by the voices of Ray Charles and Otis Redding and joined his first band at the age of 14.
After moving to London he formed the band Bandit and his haunting voice was brought to the attention of the father of British blues Alexis Korner, who invited him to work with him.
He later went to Los Angeles where he worked with Eddie Kramer, the legendary producer of Jimmi Hendrix.
On his return to London he formed the band Ph.D with Tony Hymas and Simon Phillips. Their first single I Won't Let You Down went on to sell millions.
When Ph.D went their separate ways, Diamond signed to A&M Records.
His single I Should Have Known Better went straight to number one and was nominated for an Ivor Novello award. His next single Hi Ho Silver was another top ten hit.
At the Edinburgh Festival in 1993, the Scotsman newspaper described Diamond as "Scotland's answer to Ray Charles".
In the late 90s, he teamed up with saxophonist Chris "Snake" Davis from soul outfit M People. They performed together and later worked on Diamond's album Souled and Healed which was released, in 2005.
In 2011, he released an album of soul covers featuring Scottish musicians including Wet Wet Wet drummer Tommy Cunningham and Greg Kane of Hue & Cry.

Perdita - theres an article in the Irish Times about
Maureen O' Hara's sad death which says she will
not be buried in her native Ireland but in
Arlington National Cemetry Washington - next to
her husband General Charles Blair . She had dual
Irish/ US citizenship and did a lot to publicise
Ireland and help the area where she was born.
Very sad news!!
