1lb is still good myra its better than putting it on
Thx, I know its better to lose than put it on but has anyone got any tips about what to do when you just cant lose the extra few lbs to get you past the next stone?
Thx, I know its better to lose than put it on but has anyone got any tips about what to do when you just cant lose the extra few lbs to get you past the next stone? this is the most annoying thing your body is trying to ajust to the weight loss and you could go a month will out lossing sorry to say but it can be true, just stick to your diet and it will start to come off again,as you say as long as you dont put on ,the body will ajust and you will start lossing again. When I got to my goal weight I was still lossing for a month.but now it has settled down and I am staying the same weight now.
Thanks for the advice hazey :) I'm doing extra excercise this week to see if i can lose 2-3 lbs, once i'm past the 12 stone mark I know i'll be fine with the rest (i'm 12 stone 1lb now) and it will come off easier like before it just seems like every stone is takes a huge effort to get past.

i stayed the same i am well gutted :crying: what a shame, you will have to think what you ate that was wrong,as if you are cutting down you should lose weight, did you know you have to eat 500 calories a day less to loss a lb in a week
Aww nevermind crazygirl, i'm sure you'll do it next week.
I went for my pill injection today and ive lost 20 lbs since my last one 12 weeks ago :) My weigh in is tomorrow so i'll ley you all know if ive got past 12 stone.. wish me luck

i lost 1lb this week but as long as its a loss i dont mind too much! at least its weight coming off!
Well done Pookie :) I also lost a lb this week which makes me dead on 12 stone, i'm happy cos its better than putting on a lb but i so wanna be 11 stone something and its taking forever :(
Well done pookie and myra every little helps, and myra next week you will be under 12 stone, you just wait and see.
Just checked and I first started posting in this thread on the 19th of July 2005, I was 15 stone 8 after losing a stone and 4 pounds in the weeks before. That means Ive lost close to 5 stone in 6 months, i'm so pleased with myself.... Hazey youve done amazing too :cheer: and I have to be honest if it wasnt for you, Debs and a few others I wouldnt have done it.
So thankyou everyone :)
Glad to be of help and support,as you know my son has been dieting since last May,and we went shopping yesterday,I was nearly in tears to see him be able to just get something of the rack that fitted him,he landed up with a entire new wardrobe and He treated himself to a leather jacket, which really shows off his slimmer figure. He was a size XXXL now a L or even a Med.he is still loosing and has broken the 15 stone barrier, which is fab as he was nearly 24 stone.Keep up the good work. :cheer:

Thats amazing Hazey :) another 3 stone and he would have lost half his body weight.
Jojomum, I do loads of walking and that tones up your stomach as well I think... I dont do many situps myself because I hate doing them.

Jojomum, I do loads of walking and that tones up your stomach as well I think... I dont do many situps myself because I hate doing them. Thanks Myra - I walk every day and its helped, but I have the pst pregnancy excess skin problem, which doesnt want to shrink back quite yet  so if I can give it a helping hand, I'd like to.
By the way, call me Em :D
I have the same problem as you em, I can get rid of the weight but not the excess skin.. I walk everyday and like you I can't do sit ups cause of stomach problems..
Can you do pilates now? If not then wait until you can and try that.. I did a class once and the instructor told me its all about making your back and stomach muscles strong and she'd had a few kids, was in her 50's and had a tummy like a washboard, made me so jealous. Or try some firming cream. I got the Garnier one and its worked on my thighs a bit and I dont use every day like your supposed to, only when I remember lol.
Other than that I dont really know :( I didnt bother much after I had my 2, wish I had now though, my tummy is sagging when I aint got any knickers on... I wear big bridget jones knickers when i'm going somewhere special :rotfl:
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I know what you mean about the knickers and the firming lotion.. it is the same with exericise, you promise yourself you are going to do just 20 mins a day and it last all of 1 month and no more..
Oh I am soooooooo glad its not just me then - I've got all the equipment - elliptical strider, weight bench etc, but come the evening time, when I would have chance to do it, I am shattered (and come on to my fave website :hmm: wonder what that could be :rotfl: ) and can't be bothered. I'll have to wait and see what the doctors say about my hernia though - they are looking at surgical repair, in which case I might ask em if they could just lop a bit of the skin off for me - do you think they would ? :rotfl:
Paul McKenna was talking about exercise on his show and how you have all the intention so you go get an exercise bike and after a month you put a coat on it, then more and more and eventually you are left with an expensive wendy house.. he did some motivation techniques on his site
Its a really bad circle to be in - I don't like my appearance, I exercise a bit, but then Liam needs me (even if daddy has him), so I stop after like 2 minutes (a lot of good that will do me) then I am tired, then I sit down, then I can't be bothered, but I still don't like myself. I need to get motivated to get up and do it!!
It is the same here. I feel totally demotivated on the whole thing and I keep making excuses why I shouldn't. Course I use the excuse to other people "oh I am still carring some baby weight". wonder if I can get away with that when Ben in 20 :rotfl::rotfl:

Course I use the excuse to other people "oh I am still carring some baby weight". wonder if I can get away with that when Ben in 20 :rotfl::rotfl:My motivation should have been when i was asked when my baby was due 2 yrs after i had Ciaran!! I thought about it for a bit, and it didn't go any further than that :rotfl: My other motivation should be that my boys (this includes hubby) are now calling me Bubbles but....

When I was pregnant on ben, i started to show just after christmas and I never told anyone at work, you could see them all wanting to ask but afraid incase I had just put weight on over the christmas
When I was pregnant on ben, i started to show just after christmas and I never told anyone at work, you could see them all wanting to ask but afraid incase I had just put weight on over the christmasI was like that with liam - 2 blue lines and heres my bump. Mostly down to me having no stomach muscles and having my hernia, but everyone kept looking at my bump as if to say, is she pregnant or just ate lots of pies :rotfl: In a couple of weeks I have to go to the physio though, so hopefully she'll be able to help a little bit. Its just disheartening, when I do all of the post pregnancy exercises etc but you don't see any improvement - almost makes you think why do i bother, especially when you see the waif like celebs, back in their size 8's after 3 weeks :(
I think most of them have the "to posh to push" and "remove the excess" labours. Some have diet pills and you have to remember they can afford the personal trainer before and after birth. Also once you go past a certain age, your body doesn't bounce back anymore

see that is also another thing, when you are in a relationship you tend to get comfortable and when you try to diet you just end up picking of your partners plate
when your happy in your relationship you tend not to care about dieting so much! im the same if i was unhappy in my relationship or single then maybe i would do something about it!!Its naughty of us really though isn't it - I mean, just because I have got my hubby and have done for 10yrs, doesnt mean I should let myself go - he might look at me one day and think  Not saying its like that for everyone, but in a way it is for me, and I tend to use the just had a baby excuse a little too much too
it is totally true. when I split with my hubby, I weighed almost nothing, was out dancing every saturday night and looked fab. Now i am back in a relationship I don't try so hard but I do think that I don't want to let myself go either like you em, he might turn around and go

I was a size 8 when I met my bf and then slowly crept up to a size 22 :( I'm back down to a 14-16 now but I think ive accepted ill never have a flat tummy again or non flabby thighs :) Ive got cellulite on my bum and the whole area down to my knees.... but he loves me still. I'm acctually too hard on him sometimes, some men would have run for the hills if their girlfriends had put on that much weight

I havn' but my weight is staying the same at the moment although I have given up crisps for lent so hopefully that'l make a difference as crisps are my one weakness.
Down to 10st now. Off to see the docs about my stomach muscles next week and see what they are going to do about my hernia too, so will have a chat with them and see what they say. But haven't given up, not yet anyway...

Like you said Hazey, this way, I can spend some really good quality time with him, whilst having fun, both exercising and enjoying ourselves, and on the plus side, teaches him there is stuff you can do other than computer/playstation/tv lol

i have still been weighing but the last couple of weeks i have been putting the weight on instead of off! would rather put my losses on here than my gains! i will have to be stronger now though as i have high blood pressure and have to lose weight. :(
I've got down to 11 stone 8 lbs in the last few weeks. Cant remember what I was last time I posted on here.... think I was struggling to get under the 12 stone mark.

Myra so pleased for you,you were trying to break the 12 stone barrier, last I heard, well done to you,for getting to 11 stone 8.
Thx Hazey, i'm hoping to lose 3 lbs this week now to make it 5 and half stone lost.

thanks hazey, i do like my salt but will have to try and cut it down as i know its a big factor with high blood pressure. the annoying thing is i dont drink or smoke so its really only the weight factor that affects my blood pressure. i will have to be so much stronger now as both my mum and dad have tablets for blood pressure and my mum has diabetes too so i dont want history repeating itself.

I think you are wise to keep a check on things with your family history,my hubby had diabetes type 11 and also had high blood pressure, he was advised to use branded lo-salt,and in potatoes while boiling, use rock salt, you only need a very small amount of it though. Try adding herbs or pepper on your meals rather than salt, like all things new it will be strange at first, but you will get use to less salt, Good luck.
hiya all you losers!!!!! i havent been on this thread for ages!
well done everyone, Myra youve lost loads since i last checked in!!
well i went bad again but the last 2 weeks i have been on my diet and doing quite well( the odd bad day) i decided to weigh every fortnight and went to way yesterday in boots but the machine is out of order same for today too so i couldnt weigh. hopefully it will be wroking again by monday and i can let you all know how i have done.
i have also rediscovered the joy of walking everywhere! rather than getting a bus im now walking, if i wanna pay my council tax rather than bussing it to the housing office i just walk, it takes about the sametime so it a lot healthier to walk , also the fresh air gives me so much more energy!
anyway fingers crossed i will stick to it this time.
I have my fingers crossed for you too Debs, come on you can do it,just think how fab you will feel come the summer in your swimming custom, showing off the smaller you, believe me I feel at least ten years younger now,and I am full of life, and Connor can have fun with mum at the local swimming pool too.
Right, i'm so chuffed as i've managed to get to 10 st, but guess what, I put on a pair of size 14 jeans today, which fitted (kind of, not including my elastic jelly belly :rotfl: ). Anyway, to cut a long story short, the zip broke :crying: :rotfl: Pulled the stitching apart totally!! So looks like I'll need to stick with the size 16s that keep falling over my backside for the meantime....
Jo - I hate it when you cant get clothes to fit properly!
I want join this group though for moral support! im trying to lose weight before my appointment with a specialist about getting a breast reduction on the NHS. Need to be as slim as possible!
Height - 5'3"
Weight - 10 st 13 (as of todays date)
Clothes size - 12-14
Ideal weight - 9 stone
Target to lose each week - 2lbs
Im quite active - i do go to the gym often - but eat lots of take aways. must cut those out!
Do we check in every week?

Do we check in every week? you dont have to check in each week but we find it helps with the encouragement,to go on for the next week. you will have to stop the take aways very fattening. good luck with your loss
you are so close to fitting those size 14's, keep going, it wont be too long!So disheartening though - especially when i used to be a size 10 before i had ciaran......still at least ive been referred to physio about my stomach muscles now, so hopefully we should get smething sorted out soon
Took me ages to lose my baby belly.....part of it was probably down to the fact that i never actually did anything about it. Once i got off my equally jellied up rear though i managed to lose 2 stone in 4 months.
About 2 years ago my weight started to creep up again though. Not sure what i'm doing wrong as i'm not doing anything different now than i did when i was losing the weight years ago. Except perhaps the bottles of wine i polish off when i have a girly night in with my friend!
Weighed myself this morning 9st 12lb!! :cheer:
Still a size 16 though - will have to what the physio says :D
well done !!!!!!
Size 16 is quite strange for that weight....are you quite short?
well done !!!!!!
Size 16 is quite strange for that weight....are you quite short?5ft 4 so not too short, but I am a typical pear shape - need to get on my gym equipment and shrink some of that skin!! Everyone says I don't look at 16, but after my size 14 disaster at the weekend (previous post), i'm waiting before I try that again!!
Just phoned the physio though, got to wait another 7 weeks for an appointment!!! Had to wait till 12 weeks after having liam and now another 7 weeks....
well done !!!!!!
Size 16 is quite strange for that weight....are you quite short?
I have to agree.. it is a bit strange. I am 9st 7lb and I am size 10 - 12 (10 a bit to tight and 12 is too loose) and I am 5ft 3ins
I've inherited my mums behind!! :rotfl: :rotfl:
How about a slimming challenge where everyone can motivate each other?
All you need to do is post your height, weight, target weight, and amount lost each week.
E.g for me
Height: 6ft
Weight: 12st
Target: 11st
Lost: 0lbs (first day, but next week could be 2lbs)
i dont get why there is so much hype about losing weight people should just accept themselves for who they are :o
ya i've got my family ass aswell...typical pear shape and top heavy too
i dont get why there is so much hype about losing weight people should just accept themselves for who they are :oThere isn't, but had my third child 3 months ago and am trying to lose the baby weight for me, no one else and these guys are a great help and support for me..

Im top heavy and have big hips - a proper hourglass shape cause i have no waist!
I used to weight quite a bit less than I do now, and cause of my hospital appointment I am determined to do something about it! I had alreays lost a stone by the time I came on here, (i employed a personal trainer at my gym, he did meal plans and everything) but Ive been ill for 2 months so half a stone went back on.
Ah well hopefully having to tell you lot each week will make me more determined!
how easy is it to stick to meal plans someone else made for you?
i dont get why there is so much hype about losing weight people should just accept themselves for who they are :o
some need to lose for health reasons
how easy is it to stick to meal plans someone else made for you?
The guy who did mine was fantastic! He asked me all my favourite foods, what I liked and disliked, and then based it around that. He also asked what times are best for me to eat, becuase if i finish work at 5.30 then go to the gym Im not hom to eat til 8.30. He says thats ok but I just dont eat any complex carbs with me evening meal, but I do have four small meals a day + treats!
i dont get why there is so much hype about losing weight people should just accept themselves for who they are :o There is no hype but you must be lucky enough to be the right weight. I through 8 family deaths witnin 5 years and ate myself silly and got to 16st 10,so I should accept myself over weight, with high blood pressure and high colestral. I don't think so. I joined the others on here and lost over 4 and a half stone, I now have got perfect blood pressure, low cholestral, and I wear a size 16 instead of a 24.I am willing to accept what I am now.A very happy healthy 52 year old.
Well done Jojomum :cheer:

Lost 3 lbs this week so i'm down to 11 stone 5 from 16 stone 12, ive lost 5 and a half stone so far :) gonna have to start thinking of a final goal weight.... wow well done, truely pleased for you,the goal weight should be what you are happy with, not what the text book says. I personally think there weights are on the low side and not right for everyone.
Ok, thought I would do my first update 2 weeks in!
I have lost 1 pound, and am now 10 stone 12. However -
I will fully admit in the past two weeks I have eaten 4 x chip shop (I live opposite one god help me) and been out for 2 meals ( a three course Mexican and two course at a posh restaurant). **hangs head in shame **
All in all am happy with the pound Ive lost! however need to stop eating crap!
I get angry at myself afterwards, if it was a one off I wouldnt mind but I cant seem to stop! Im addicted I think.

Well, I haven't weighed myself, but size 14 is now too big, although I can't quite squeeze into the size 12's yet.
Have been physio - have got more exercises to do, which are apparently just like pilates, so may have to find a class that i can attend too. 've just got to wait another 6 weeks before i can or at least wait until my stomach muscles have closed over properly, so i don't do any further damage. As soon as I decide to weigh myself though, i'll let you know the results, but the inch loss seems to be happening which is great.

I need to add another chip shop takewaway onto my list cause could nto be bothered cooking last night. :wall:Running round after the three boys certainly helps too and i actually walked everywhere this morning, so did a total of about an hour and a half of fast walking, plus pushing the pram helps too, all whilst holding a good posture (which I don't normally do lol)

Wow. That is good going. Well done!
I got down to about 11st 7lbs bur have managed to put it on since. Decided today that I'm going to totally going to cut sugar our of my diet. The amount of cravings I've been through on the first day is amazing
WOW thats amazing Hazy, you must be so proud of him. I put on a lb or so last week so was almost back to 11 stone, determined not to go back over it though so i'm really sticking to it this week. Its my birthday in 3 weeks time and were going out in fancy dress, red pvc nurses dresses from Ann Summers so i'm hoping to lose another half a stone before then.
Well to reward myself for losing over 3 stone i went out today and got my belly button pierced :) Im really pleased with it, even tho i still want to lose another 2 stone the man in piercing place said it wont change the position of the piercing at all.
That was in november last year but ive had to take it out :crying: Its gone septic and its all smelly and really disgusting  , im so upset, I was really careful about cleaning it and stuff but I think im one of those people who cant have piercings, both my eyebrow bars grew out and now my belly bars ruined too :(

Abblette, you cant go by other peoples weight when trying to see what a healthy weight is for you. They might be taller or have a smaller build than you. Your best going on the weightwa tchers website or something to check your ideal weight before you decide if your overweight. I weigh 10 stone 8 but I look like I weigh around 9 stone, everyones different.

Totally agree with you on this one.. My ideal weight, one I am happiest with and looks good for me is 9stone.. If I go any lighter than that I just look sick and drawn so I have to maintain that
How is every one doing, with the weight loss, hope you havent gained. Stevie and I start our diet a year ago now and have managed to mantain our weight loss, since we have stopped dieting in ernest. Myra you must be a goal weight now ?.
I've managed to get to 9st 4lbs now though I'm a size 13 lol
14 is too big, but 12 is just a bit too much of the breathe in deeply syndrome still.
Well done Hazey and Stevie !! You have both done brilliantly!
How is everyone else doing??

Oh no Luna, thats a big gain in a short time so maybe you should mention it to the doctor. I havent weighed this week because the kids have been off school but when I weighed last week I was 10 st 5 lbs. I'm not really bothered if I lose anymore now, if I do great :) but if I dont thats ok as long as I dont put any on (I wouldnt mind being able to say I weigh 9 stone something though :P ). Thanks for asking Hazey and I hope I can say in a years time ive maintained it like you and Stevie have :)
It been a long time since anyone posted but I needed help!! I started a weight lost program 8 weeks ago, need to loose 1 stone. I was really happy after 6 weeks I lost 7lb and kept up the program.. but now I can't lose anymore.. can anyone tell me how they finally lost that last few pounds cause I am already eating way less calories than I should and if I eat less, I will starve
This happens to all of us, that last little bit takes for ever, dont cut back any more, but you do need to do a little extra excerise, if only going swimming once a week, or two visits to the gym inside of one. Also try changing your weelky diet for a couple of weeks, the body just needs a bit of a rekick start thats all. Well done on your lose.Stephen and I still excerise, but only once a week now, but have still kept off all our weight lose. Good luck

I'm pleased to say I've lost the two dress sizes I wanted to and am now in a size 10 :cheer:
Managed to keep the weight off over Xmas too, so lets just hope it stays this way for a while longer :D
Well done though Pookie - only putting on 3lb after the Xmas festivities is great - so much temptation for the naughty foods (I'm still trying to keep away from the Chocolate Orange Varieties, but Bry convinced me to have loads yesterday - its all his fault :rotfl: )

Well my weight loss has been going verrrryyy badly.
Still have 2 stone to lose!!!
my eating .. not been fab. not been awful either but ...
have been going to the gym four times a week for past 3 weeks so hope to see an improvement soon.
I just cant seem to stop eating takeaway! Its the bane of my life!
But it is so much easier isn't it Em!! I know the feeling lol!
It takes a while for your metabolism to build up too, so I'm sure with going to the gym as often as you are you will see an improvement soon - and don't forget, muscle is heavier than fat!

Thing is I have to physically lose 2 stone for my op ... the fact that im much skinnier wont work with my surgeon .. he's only interest in that BMI thing
Grrr - dont you just hate that!!
Its like my hubby - he is 16 stone and technically classed as obese, yet if he went down to his supposed correct weight, he'd be having to lose about 4 stone and he would look ill - its not right!!

Check this bit out
A BMI measurement is not as accurate if you're an athlete or very muscular (muscle weighs more than fat) as this can push you into a higher BMI category even if you have a healthy level of body fat. It's also not accurate for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or people who are frail.
Did I tell anyone I was a pregnant bodybuilder who regularly runs marathons..... *whistles* :rotfl: :rotfl:

im 5 ft to. I have just done my BMI and apperently im healthy. well thats a lie as my fitness is appauling. really need to sort myself out. I have always been natrually skinny as im quite lucky like that but my fitness is a real issue

I heard the average healthy weight for 5ft is.. 7 st 4 lb - 9 st 2 lb
Yup, well I heard that anyways. Breakfats is what gets your metabolism rates going so you can have snacks and stuff and it digests.
Don't know if this is true but I heard if you don't eat much for a long time you sort of start eating your insides? 'Cause of the chemicals inside your body which digest the food? Or well it does if you have chewing gum and eat nothing. Chewing gum is also good to eat after meals because the stuff inside your body (same acids I think) help digest the food more as your brain thinks your still eating or something :) x
i get told that all the time, but my body cant handle breakfast it makes me want to be sick. I didnt know that about chewing gum though.

I just may have to borrow Angelica's wii to see if it does help you loose weight. It's certainly a lot more fun then playing most computer games as you have to stand up to play the games.

yeh it is true that if you eat brekkie then it will help you lose weight, eating brekkie speeds up your metabolism. plus you should eat more than one meal a day cos not only is it unhealthy if you dont, but also cos if you cut down on your calorie intake too much then you wont end up losing any weight cos your body will store extra fat cos it will need it built up incase you starve yourself too much. but just eat 3 healthy meals a day and cut down on snacks and you should be ok, make sure you eat at least 1500 calories (as i read somewhere that even if youre dieting you shouldnt eat less than that). and the chewing gum thing could be true cos your digestive system takes at least 20mins to start working after you start eating so if you finish your meal in less time than that you might still feel hungry even if you arent
I have breakfast everyday, I eat 3 meals (salad usually for lunch and then a normal dinner) and I don't snack.. in fact.. yesterday was the first time I had chocolate since christmas day... and I haven't eaten a pack of crisps in 3 months
thats ther ight way to go about it, i would eat breakfast but my body cant handle it. I feel really ill after it. So i usually have 2 meals a day, with no snacking and since christmas i have been drinking lots more water.

I really do need to start excerising more though as I only do swimming for an hour a week and I have 1 hour P.E a week now. I really need to cut down on the sweet stuff. I want to reach my target of loosing 16lb (a bit over a stone) so I am far away from the risk of being overweight for my height (I am not now but quite close I think). Woohoo.. half way there lol.
well thats me 5 weeks without smoking so no to tackle the weight. I need to lose 4 stone by september for my holiday. So started yesterday No chips (which i lived on) and i am also snacking on snakajacks which are lovely cause i get hungry and bored very easily lol
if you like fruit and veg, bring in a lunch box with raw veg and fruit in slices.. leave it on your desk and snack on them instead when you are bored

We get free fruit and veg in work so im munching on that too!!
Got my davina dvd out yesterday so sore today but im really going to try and stick at it though dont wont to be looking like a beached whale lol
I havent checked this thread for a long time now. Its nice to see you all are still dieting. When the thread started in 2005 I weighed 16st 7 and by the xmas I had lost 4stone 4 lbs and weighed 12st 3lbs. now its nearly two years and I weigh 12stone exactly. I have kept it off so it can be done. My son lost a total of 11 stone and has kept that off too. So keep going guys.
Thats brilliant Hazey!! Well done to both you and Stephen.
When I started this thread I was 12st. I went all the way up to 13st 5lbs instead of going down to my target of 11st.
However, in the last 6 weeks I've started exercising again and watching what I eat and am down to 12st 4lbs.

well done... I haven't moved... I am still same weight.. I have tried diet, exercise etc.. I have also said sod it and ate all the food I love and I can't gain or loss weight... don't know if that is good or bad

I found the same initally. I cut out the sugar, watched what I ate but still remained the same. So it was back to the pizza and curries with no affect on my weight.
But then I drastically did a lifestyle change. Instead of coming home and surfing the net/watching telly, I made sure I joined the local fitness club. So my weekly routine looks something like this:
Mon: Body Pump + Abs + Boxercise
Tues: Spinning (bike class) + Weights + Stability Ball
Web: Aeroskip + Body Pump
Thu: Spinning + Badminton (2hrs)
Fri: Rest + eat what I like day
Sat/Sun: Moderate activity
I've cut out a lot of junk from my diet. I allow myself to relax my eating habits over the weekend (e.g. odd takeaway etc), but during the week I'm pretty strict.
Still got a long way to go to achieve my target of 11st though ...
Well done though for all the effort you are putting into this, I admire your determination which is where I fail :( Will try again though to do more for the health
I'm now down from 12st 4lbs to 12st exactly. Finally fit back into waist 32" jeans!

My biggest problem is that I don't have time to exercise. I always eat a breakfast usually shreaded wheat, corn flakes and in the winter porridge. For lunch I only have a sandwich and yoghurt and I have my tea between 5 and 6 then I don't eat again until the next morning. I just can't find the time to exercise as two nights a week I'm out taking Marley to Judo and football training plus she has a match most Sunday morning. The free time is used up helping Marley with her homework and with winter coming I'm like well my body will be well covered so no-one will see my increasing waistline.
Hazey.. You are totally amazing and your son not only just lost that much but you keep it off.. You both should be really proud of yourselves for not given up and for your willpower... congrats to you both
How did you manage to keep the weight off Hazey?
havent been on here for months, been working most evenings,I still have kept the weight off,and so has my son,we go to the gym only once a week now,but my job is very active,we eat a low fat diet, and plenty of fruit and veg, neither of us drink alcohol, which saves loads of calories. We allow ourselves the odd treat of pizza,or something naughty once a week and the weight has stayed off.

I would like a bit of help please i want to lose weight off my jelly belly ( as my partner calls it) thighs and hips.. I no i need to exercise so i have got bike to go out on.. I no i need to watch what i eat...
But to be honest this is all new to me and i have not got a clue where to start sorry if this sound stupid...
I thought you guys might be able to give me some tips or advice....
Pinkles.. this is what I am going to be doing.. 30 mins exercise 3 times a day (just before each meal) I have exercise thing for my upper arms and a sit up machine for my stomach (I too have a jelly belly). This will also exercise my ass and thighs.
I will be walking to and from work each day (if you are driving, park your car further from where you work so you walk a bit each day and take the stairs in stead of the lift) plus I am starting my second session of pole dancing.. yeah I know it sounds seedy but it is fantastic for full body exercise

Thanks Siobhan.. i will be walking alot more and getting the bike out i thought the bike would help with my thighs....
Then its just sorting out what to eat and when....
Ok... so I started this morning.. got up 30 mins earlier than usual and I have to say I felt better for it.. did my exercises and I had so much more energy for getting kids ready for school.. definitely something I am going to keep up.. Plans to do (for now) 30 mins in morning and evening
Obviously, diet is going to be a big part in slimming, you can get very tasty recipes of the internet for low fat, low carb meals, whichever diet you want to do. I am starting oriental dance lessons, used to do belly dancing years ago, now I have the belly  . Oh, I will stop drining alcohol. My brother lost a lot of weight without exercising just by not having any booze because he was on antibiotics for a long time. So I am trying that as well.
After taking lots of advice from you guys I started my diet 4 weeks ago.. I had my first weigh-in last saturday and I lost 7lb (which I am really happy with) but on top of that I lost 1 inch of my belly, ass and thighs and gained 1cm on my upper arms (which were more jelly than muscle).. I am going to keep going cause it is the first time I have lost weight gradually so I am hoping it stays off.. next weigh-in is start of March so will keep you posted

Wow Siobhan! is it just exercise and good food? Im on a never ending wedding diet any tips appreciated! Unfortunately cost of the wedding means no gym for me so any help welcomed!
Well done Siobhan, keep it up and keep us posted. What kind of diet are you following? It sounds good if you are loosing weight slowly, you should keep it off that way.

replacement and exercise diet... I replaced chips, chocolate and crisp with fruit and veg (doesn't sound very exciting but it works if you allow yourself a little treat every so often) and I work out a lot more.
I do my dance class on monday and 30 min exercise at home 2 other day in the week.. I walk to work everyday so that helps too.. I feel better, less hungry and have more energy
I was hoping you would say that you did not really do anything other than perhaps cutting out the really bad stuff, but had a feeling you would mention different food such as fruit and veg and EXERCISE! Good on you, though and I hope to follow suit one of these days soon.

If only huns.. I would love to eat what I want and lose weight. I would love if there was a little pill you take, do 10 sit-ups and hey presto instant flat tummy.. but no, I learnt you have to actually work at been healthy.. last few diets I just starved till I lost weight (worked but when I stopped, it went back on and then some more)

Sounds like it's going really well Siob!!
I'd like to lose a stone or two lol. My biggest problem is college and drinking (any drink not just alcohol lol).
With college I spend SO much on food! Usually either a breakfast (egg, sausage etc.. ) or McDonalds... or soup. I am a very thirsty person.. sometimes I think I drink drinks cos I'm bored.. and have loads of drinks in the day.. anything from something fizzy, smoothies, water, powerade, tea! and others!
I can't seem to stop eating the food at college though haah!! Even if my mum makes me sandwiches!! I don't like sandwiches though so that might be the problem!! What is healthy that you can take in a packed lunch??
Up point - I don't like chocolate that much so hardley ever eat it. If I do it's one cube a day or something - makes me feel sick.
Another bad point - I get a bus to college (WAYYY to far to walk) .. can't afford to join the gym at the moment.. so I was thinking maybe take up walking? Yet there's no time lol! I'm either at college or at work.. or it's too dark haha. Don't want to roam the streets in my town at night o_O.
Any help appreciated :D.
Silly question; is tea fattening lol?? I have sweetner not sugar... but do like a lot of milk sometimes.. I have at least
8 mugs a day..
- end essay - Sorry :o

I'm doing lent :)
Giving up Crisps and chocolate.
I did it last year too and its surprising how much you can lose!
I really do try to cut down on crisps and chocolate or biscuits you know the like and I just cant we always have some bits in the house and then there is college
Kirsty :]
06-02-2008, 21:39
Aww :/ We don't really have chocolate and crisps... but in school I boredom eat in free lessons. So I now have fruit instead :)
Lea have you tried a wrap before?
It's like an alternative to bread and they're really nice and you can have what you like in them :)
And about the tea...I think it just depends on the milk and sugar... but seems as though you have sweetner you don't need to wory about that. I ahve Semi-Skimmed milk in my tea :)
And I've cut down to maybe 1 cup of tea a day :)..when I sed to drink like 5 or 6.
Its good to eat a bit of everything
Just in moderation thats all :)
Hope I was of some help :)

Haha... I didn't think I could either! :)
I just stopped drinking tea in the morning and had fruit juice lie apple juice or something and stick to ater through the day and then I have a cuppa when I get home from school to chill me out haha.
I'm making it sound like nicotine or something! :)

i had a docs appointment today and i have a LOT of weight to lose! i HAVE to do it for one reason and one reason only.

Em.. I walk about 20 mins every morning and it is really dark as I have to go through a field with no lights but as it is morning there is nobody around.. at night I take the longer way home which add 15 mins more on to my journey..
Due to work I don't eat til 8pm either but your body doesn't care when it gets it calories as long as it gets enough.. the only difference about eating late is people feel more sluggish going to bed and takes a bit long to sleep but it is fine to eat late.
I can't afford a gym either so I made myself a little one at home. You just need a mat and a book on how to do the exercises.. not very motivating cause it is just easier to sit on the sofa but if you put on your fav program (for me it is scrubs) then the 30 mins go so quickly that you don't notice you have done it.. this is just what I have done, others on here gave me lots of tips too which helped lots so thanks guys
If you really wanted to know it works, read What Hazey has written in this thread.. she was my motivator so thank you

Me either Lea.. I drink about as much as you.. Black tea is much better for you cause it contains a lot of anti toxins which are actually of benefit for you

Although sweetener does not have calories as such, it is a sugar substitute and will still add unwanted pounds if you use too much. Try going without, took me a couple of days to get used to the taste, now I have no sugar in any drink. Are you using skimmed milk? Try to drink water and not fizzy drinks, add a little lemon juice if you find the taste boring.
Gives you added vitamins and no calories.
Be careful walking in the dark, certainly don't do it on your own. Is there a walking club where you live? You don't have to use the sticks if you don't want to, I am sure. Use stairs instead of lifts. Do a couple of sit-ups and press-ups in your bedroom when you get up and before you go to sleep. All adds up in the day. :)

Thanks Perdita. I'll certainly try going without sweetner at all. I don't use that much anyway.. half a teaspoon usually. I use whole milk :o.
I do love water so that should be easyish.. and cheaper too.. I'll think of the money lmao!
I really have no idea about walking clubs. I was thinking last night.. that I might go swimming once a week. The swimming pool is about half hour maybe more walk, so that's walking there and back and then the swimming.. that could help I think? I'll do the sit up and press up idea too.
Thanks loads :).

Well my darling fiance bought me an exercise bike for Xmas, so Im trying to use it two/three times a week for half an hour! I mentioned to him about walking home from work and he wants me to wait a few weeks until its lighter outside :( I pointed out my dress fitting is coming up but he was still grumpy (and Idont have any fields to walk through its abusy main road!)

Swimming is one of the best methods for exercise as it does not put a burden on your joints like jogging would do, and riding a push bike is also good for you. You can do a sort of sit-up when you watch TV or work in an office, sit near the front of the seat and lean back and forth, you can feel your tummy muscles tighten when you do that. :)

also i read that when your walking, if you pull your stomach muscles in then it helps to tone them
Think I am gunna try this weight loss lark. I hve put a stone and half on in past couple of months due to sitting at desk all day working n not much exercise.
Height 5"4
Weight 9stone maybe little more
Target anything less
guys.. need a little help.. I am ok with getting exercise but for some reason my lower abdomen doesn't seem to be changing even with this.. I am not sure if it is cause I had a C- section and my muscle won't tone there due to be cut or if I am not doing something right
Anyone got any good tips for lower tummy exercises???
Kirsty :]
18-02-2008, 17:28
I'm only 16 so I can't help with the whole c-section thing sorry :)
I can try my best with the lower tummy muscles though.
At dancing we have to lie on our backs and lift both legs as high as we can and then lower them so that our feet aren't touching the floor for as long as we can.
I find that really helps! :)
I can't think of anymore off the top of my head but when I do I'll post them :)
Hope I was a little help if anything :)
My whole healthy eating thing is slowly going down the pan :(
I need to get back on track!!
It doesn't help in school when all my friends are stuffing their faces with crisps and chocolate lol.
Well, I am cooking cabbage soup as I type this to start a 7 day diet as prescribed by a cardiologist. My bellydancing teacher lost loads of weight, so she said, she is quite big and it does not show really but she reckons she lost around 16 kg in 3 weeks. I am desperate to lose at least 7 kg, prefer to lose 10 kg if I can so please keep your fingers crossed for me that I can keep it up for the week and that I lose some weight. :) Posting this here might keep me on the straight and narrow and I won't cheat. Can't have any alcohol and I do like my red wine :crying:

Perdy just be careful huney when you're on the cabbage soup diet. I tried it last year and lasted 3 days I was ill with the trotts, and I only have wine at the weekend not during the week.
Thank you Chloe, I have had to stop it because I came down with severe gastroenteritis and spent the last 24 hours in hospital on 5 drips. I certainly don't feel like continuing but I did lose 3 kg. I will curtail my wine to weekends only now, I believe my eating habits are healthy and low fat, could reduce the portions a little I suppose.

About the portion thing. Eat on smaller plates. Sounds a bit silly :p but if you have a big plate, your more likely to overload it and eat more than you mean. It's the easiest way to reduce portions.
I've just told my mum to stop buying chocolates and rather than snacking on them I'll just have lettuce because I love that :p I think just eating healthily is better than all these silly diets :p
Hope you're feeling better soon Perdita :)

When I tried the Cabbage soup diet I lost a stone within a week but I think most of that was due to being on the loo (sorry to be rude) I would still like to loose around another stone or stone and a half my eating habits are healthy enough I just need to get of my fat butt and do some exercising.

what is the cabbage soup diet?
You basically eat cabbage soup for 7 days, every day you add something to go with it, e.g. day one some fruit, day two vegetable, day three add fruit and veg, day 4 add 3 bananas and skimmed milk, day 5 add one pound meat and 4 tomatoes, drink lots of water, day 6 add meat and veg as much as you like, day 7 eat wholemeal rice, veg and soup. Weight loss between 10 and 17 pounds. I think I made my cabbage soup too spicy and I ended up ill because of it. :( You can repeat those 7 days as often as you like unless you lose more than 17 pounds in one week, you deffo need to have a break of more than one week then. Got this diet from a cardiologist for patients requiring surgery and due to being too fat need to lose weight quickly.

I am feeling a bit motivated to do a group session for something at the gym throughout the summer holidays and also mum said there's a gym offer going on so we could go together and work out which I would like too.. Hopefully the words will turn into action!
Meanwhile I will start to use the treadmill and rowing machiene again..
Also going to try eating salads and stuff, which I somehow managed on my holiday and which I usually don't do..
what about this no carbs after 5pm diet? as anyone heard of it working?
the thing is all of my evening meals have carbs in them! so what am i meant to do? have my evening meal at lunch and a sandwhich for dinner? :searchme:
this dieting lark is so difficult as so many things contradict one another. like they say to eat lots of protein (meat etc) but meat has a lot of fat in it. and they say drink a pint of milk a day ( well thats full of fat)
the things we do to loose weight eh!?
Meat does not necessarily have a lot of fat, you need to choose lean meat and don't eat too much of it. Turkey meat is very low in fat, so is chicken.
Choose skimmed milk, again very little fat in that. Eat small portions, drink plenty of water (couple of pints a day at least), not too many treats and little alcohol (:crying: ) and daily exercise of at least half an hour, that way you should have no weight problems. :)

My mum makes fat burning soup. It's for patients to lose weight before heart surgery. It's really nice, and filling.
I'll ask her for the recipe. :)
