Heya, this is a one off TB story. It's like the episode with Cop Idol, december 2002, just because I like songs and absolutely love singing so I thought I'd do one about it. Mainly to get everyone into the Valentines Day mood. My new characters: SRO Fiona Wells.

Superintendent Adam Okaro stood at the front of the briefing room. There was CID and the relief all sitting in front of him. "Alright everyone. I know that recently you've all been working hard with this Casson's case, so because Valentine's day is today we shall have another Cop Idol, valentines day special. So those of you that participate will have to perform a love song." Some of the people moaned. "Oh c'mon at least now you can sing a song that is dedicated to a special person. If you can then sing and play a musical instrument, if you can't play and instrument then just sing. Right well get thinking about what song you want to do and practice. Tickets, for those of you who just want to watch or for family members, will be on sale front the front desk. Fiona can I trust you with the responsibility of selling tickets." Fiona nodded happily. "Ok, they'll be fifty pence each. I think we'll have a piece of paper with your names and suggestions for where the money should go. Ok, get back to duty and make sure this doesn't make your work lack."

Everyone got up and went to where they had to go. Fiona was walking back to the front desk with some people from CID. "So, anyone know what they're going to do. Zain, Mickey, Sam?" Samantha Nixon turned around to face Fiona, they were quite good friends. "I might do, but I'll save it until tonight." She answered smiling happily. The CID lot went up the stairs and into there department. Sam sat at her desk while Phil sat at his. "You taking part tonight?" She asked him. "Probably, I've pretty much got a song in my head." Sam looked curious. "What song?"
Phil smiled mischievously. "Hey you're not the only one who can keep their song secret. I'll surprise ya tonight." Sam smiled, then glared playfully. She picked up her phone and dialled her home number. After three rings her daughter picked up. "Hello Abigail. How d'you fell about coming to see a singing show tonight at my work. Sort of a talent show, I'm going to be in it. You can bring Aaron along too." After getting a reply Sam ended the conversation and put the phone down. "Who's Aaron?" Phil asked still looking at the sheet of paper on his desk. "Your nosy aren't you." Sam laughed. "Aaron is Abi's baby." Phil smiled. He knew how much trouble had been caused before but he never doubted that Sam loved her grandchild.

When it was Sam and Phil's coffee break they headed downstairs to pay for tickets. Sam put her money in the box then picked up the piece of paper for suggestions about where the money should go. Phil had gone before her. She read what he'd put.
Phil Hunter. The money should go to me. Joke. It's should go to a fund for Sunhill police station.
Samantha Nixon. I think the money should go to a charity i.e; Cancer Research UK, NSPCC, British Heart Foundation etc. Sam wrote quickly before going to get a coffee in the canteine with Phil.

Canelly High Street, PC Honey Harman and PC Dan Casper were walking up and down on foot patrol. "So, you going tonight?" Dan asked Honey trying to make conversation. "Yeah, course I am. I heard that Sunhill have got some really good singers. Never heard hardly any though." Dan looked at her.
"You singing anything?" He was absorbed in his thoughts of all the people singing. "Well Leela, Emma and I were thinking of singing Honeyz song Never let you down." Dan smiled. "Ironic artist name." Honey laughed.

After the shift everyone went home to get ready for the big event. Nearly everyone was singing something. Some where playing instruments but not all. At half past seven everyone was back at the station with family and friends. Loads of people had turned up to see police officers singing. They'd all packed into the canteine in seats. At one end a stage had been put up for the performers.

I had to cut the story into two bits otherwise it would be too long!!

Supt. Okaro stood on the stage. "Welcome everyone to Cop Idol, valentines day special. I hope your looking forward to it as much as I am. I'm pretty sure that all the people participating are looking forward to it. Now because of a suggestion, all the money raised is being split in half. Half is going to Cancer Research UK charity, while the other half is going to the National Society to Prevent Cruelty to Children, aka NSPCC. Well first up is Mickey Webb as Jesse McCartney singing Beautiful Soul." Adam stepped off the stage and Mickey stood up from his seat. He took to the stage and started singing.

“I don't want another pretty face
I don't want just anyone to hold
I don't want my love to go to waste
I want you and your beautiful soul
You're the one I wanna chase
You're the one I wanna hold
I wont let another minute go to waste
I want you and your beautiful soul.”

When he finished everyone clapped and cheered. He took his bow and then Adam came back on to the stage. “Wow, that was Mickey Webb everyone.” The evening carried on with more singing. DC Jo Master sang Closest Thing To Crazy by Katie Melua. She also played the guitar as she sang. People sang brilliantly and really showed talent. “Ok, can we have Honey Harman, Emma Keane and Leela Kapoor who will be singing Never Let You Down by Honeyz.” The trio came on and performed it. They all took turns to sing a bit and they all sung really well.

“I'll never let you down
Never run around
Baby believe me
Cos' I will be there
I'll be there always
I'll never let you down
Never mess around
Baby believe me
Never before have I felt something more than I do”

They finished happily and the crowd clapped. There was a short interval then more acts went up. Dan Casper, Lewis Hardy and Will Fletcher went up as another trio and sang The Calling, Wherever You Will Go. They were also really good and sang it all in perfect time with each other. Second to last was Phil Hunter. He walked up and took with him a guitar. “This song is dedicated to a very special lady.” As the music began he searched the crowd and found the special lady. It was a certain blonde, small, DS with a daughter and grandchild that she loved dearly. He winked at her and she smiled back at him.

“Feeling blue
When I'm trying to forget this feeling
That I miss you
Feeling green
When the jealousy wells and it won't
Go away in dreams
Feeling yellow
I'm confused inside a little hazy but mellow

When I feel your eyes on me
Feeling fine, sublime
When that smile of yours
Creeps into my mind

Nobody told me it feels so good
Nobody said you'd be so beautiful
Nobody warned me about your smile
You're the light
You're the light
When I close my eyes
I'm colour blind
You make me colour blind

Feeling red
When you spend all your time with your friends
And not me instead
Feeling black
When I think about all of the things that
I feel I lack
Feeling jaded
When it's not gone right
All the colours have faded

Then I feel your eyes on me
Feeling fine, sublime
When that smile of yours
Creeps into my mind

Nobody told me it feels so good
Nobody said you'd be so beautiful
Nobody warned me about your smile
You're the light
You're the light
When I close my eyes
I'm colour blind
You make me colour blind

Blinded by the light you shine
The colours fade completely
Blinded by you every time
I feel your smile defeat me
I'm colour blind
I just can't deny this feeling

Nobody told me it feels so good
Nobody said you'd be so beautiful
Nobody warned me about your smile
You're the light
You're the light
When I close my eyes
I'm colour blind
You make me colour blind

Nobody told me it feels so good
Nobody said you'd be so beautiful
Nobody warned me about your smile
You're the light
You're the light
When I close my eyes
I'm colour blind
You make me colour blind”

Everyone in the crowd applauded. He had played the guitar a bit and sang. He really was good. “Well,” Adam walked on to the stage. “Did anyone expect him to be that good?” Everyone laughed. “Last but definitely not least. We have a woman who will sing and play an instrument. Please can you welcome to the stage Samantha Nixon as Lucie Silvas, singing Forget Me Not.” Sam got up and walked to the stage. Phil passed her; he smiled encouragingly. “Goodluck!” She took the seat behind a black piano. The backing track began and she started to play. He fingers danced on the keys and she played. Then she started to sing and it took everyone’s breath away.

“Forget me not, I ask of you
Wherever your life takes you to
And if we never meet again
Think of me every now and then

We had just one day to recall
Now all I want is something more
Than just a fading memory
Left wondering what could have been.

Isn't it a shame, that when timing's all wrong
You're doing what you never meant to,
There's always something that prevents you.
Well I believe in fate, it had to happen this way
But it always leaves me wondering whether...
In another life we'd be together.
We should feel lucky we can say... we've always got yesterday

And as I leave it all behind
You're still emblazoned in my mind
And for that very special day
Nobody loved me in that way

Forget me not, I ask of you
Wherever your life takes you to
And if we never meet again
Think of me every now and then”

The whole crowd applauded and cheered. They thought she was amazing. She had done it so well. There was another small interval whilst the judges, DCI Jack Meadows, Isp. Gina Gold, Sgt. June Akland and DI Neil Manson. Everyone packed back into the room waiting for the results. Adam stood on the stage with all the contestants. “Welcome back everyone, I have the results. In joint third place we have. Honey, Leela and Emma as well as Will, Dan and Lewis.” The two groups stepped forward and were given bronze medals. There was enough for one each already. “In second place we have. Phil Hunter.” Phil stepped forward, he was smiling happily as he took his silver award. “Well, the winner will have to perform again but do a different song as the grand finale. Using an instrument if they already have used one. The winner of Cop Idol, Valentines special is Samantha Nixon.” Everyone in the canteine cheered, whistled, clapped and stamped as she was given the golden trophy. She was smiling as she hadn’t expected to win. Everyone walked off the stage as the piano was brought back on and Sam chose the song she would sing. She decided and began singing to a standing ovation.

Oh, thinking about all our younger years
There was only you and me
We were young and wild and free
Now nothing can take you away from me
We've been down that road before
But that's over now
You keep me coming back for more

Baby, you're all that I want
When you're lying here in my arms,
I'm finding it hard to believe
We're in heaven
And love is all that I need,
And I found it there in your heart
It isn't too hard to see
We're in heaven

Oh, once in your life you find someone
Who will turn your world around
Pick you up when your feeling down
Now nothing could change what you mean to me
There's a lot that I could say
But just hold me now
Cause our love will light the way

Baby you're all that I want
When you're lying here in my arms,
I'm finding it hard to believe
We're in heaven
And love is all that I need,
And I found it there in your heart
It isn't too hard to see
We're in heaven

I've been waiting for so long
For something to arrive
For love to come along
Now our dreams are coming true
Through the good times and the bad
I'll be standing there by you

Baby you're all that I want
When you're lying here in my arms
Im finding it hard to believe
We're in heaven
And love is all that I need,
And I found it there in your heart
It isn't too hard to see
We're in heaven
Oh, Oh
Oh, Oh
We're in heaven.

She finished and was met again with cheering and clapping. Sam steeped off the stage and Phil walked over to her. He handed her a bunch of gorgeous red roses. “Be my valentine?” He asked hopefully. Sam smiled and nodded. Phil kissed her sweetly. He was so proud of the talented woman in his arms. “I love you.” He whispered as music started to play and couples started to slow dance. “Hmm, I love you too.” She said as they swayed happily.
