Abi you are not sad. I haven't read it yet, but that's because out library never gets book in quick enough. You are not sad Abi.
I am reading Angels and Demons by Dan Brown as I have read Th Da Vinci Code. Then I'm moving onto Deception Point and Digital Fortress, also by Dan Brown. You can tell I like him. Then I'm tempted to read Shawshank Redemption by Stephen King, as I love the film. I also wouldn't mind reading 'The man in Iron mask.' SO many books to read! Plus we are doing Far From the Madding crowd in English.

I do not know what you call the seats in your soccer stadiums, well in the USA most of the seats are long metal planks and believe me as a football ( American ) mom i froze my buns on many of them at many games LOL
the book is basically about former foot ball players coming back to the place they played foot ball, every player was trained under one coach and they hated him but loved him and the old coach was dying.. ,, etc,, won't bore ya kiddo..

The Horse Whisperer By Nicholas Evans - its great but so sad :D
That was a great book, much better than the film.
I think he could have developed the plot more, rather than the characters, because it was a bit weak in places, and dragged on. The film ruined it though, they completely changed everything that was fundamentally good about it!!

The Righteous Men by Sam Bourne - good story
I read this on my holidays and really enjoyed it, I'm not much of a book reader but when I read a book I generally enjoy it. I loved the plot twists in this novel and the character of TC. Shame about Will, he spoilt the book for me. Far better than the Davinic Code in my opinion.

I totally agree. I read it over the summer after you recommended it to me, and i really enjoyed it. It was one of those books you get into really quickly, and as you said, the twists made it gripping. I didn't mind Will too much, he was just a very typical kind of character for that kind of book.

I have had gift vouchers from waterstones sitting in a draw since christmas as everytime I went into town I forgot to take them with me, anyway this weekend has been a bank holiday up in edinburgh so I was off work so we took a trip into town and went to waterstones. I bought the three books from the lord of the rings, I had the book last year but mybag got stolen form work with the book in it and I haven't replaced it so I had to buy the three seperately. I also bought the book "charlotte's web" This was one of my favourite books along with "The Lion, the whitch and the wardrobe" when I was a school and it was a joy to read it to marley at bed time.
Maximum-The Angel Experiment. It's about a group of mutant children that have wings and escaping some evil dudes who want to kill them.

Im reading the book i got for christmas. Peter Kay the sound of laughter. Its his autobiaography and very funny. If you like him as a comedian its a good read. Especially about growing up in Boltonand going to school with the nuns, working at Frnny Lees toilet roll factory.
I also have a Waterstones voucher if my uncles girlfriend so im going to buy Feed the Goat, which is Shaun goaters autobiography. It looks really good, about his childhood in Bermuda, his failure at united than finally finding luck as a footballer at Man City.
Notes On A Scandal by Zoe Heller.
Brought it becuase I've just seen the film, but it is meant to be a brilliant book regardless. From what I've read it's a very refreshing read, simple storyline but brilliantly written. Great for those who have seen the film, or for those who appreciate an intelligantly written book with some deep emotional/physcocial complexity.

Is that the one where the girl has a termination but it goes wrong and she can't have any more children?
I'm reading One Child by Torey Hayden. It's about a six year old girl who's mother left her on a highway (set in America) when she was four and was abused. She set fire to a little boy and was "sentenced" to a psychiatric hospital. While waiting for a place she was put in a special needs class for retarded kids. Her teacher (the author) was an educational psychologist and special needs teacher and she was the only one who realised that the girl wasn't mad. It's a true life thing and it's really good. I was almost crying in places.

I am reading Damaged by Cathy Glass.True story.
Although Jodie is only eight years old, she is violent, aggressive, and has already been through numerous foster families. Her last hope is Cathy Glass. At the Social Services office, Cathy (an experienced foster carer) is pressured into taking Jodie as a new placement. Jodie's challenging behaviour has seen off five carers in four months. Despite her reservations, Cathy decides to accept Jodie to protect her from being placed in an institution. Jodie arrives, and her first act is to soil herself, and then wipe it on her face, grinning wickedly. Jodie meets Cathy's teenage children, and greets them with a sharp kick to the shins. That night, Cathy finds Jodie covered in blood, having cut her own wrist, and smeared the blood over her face. As Jodie begins to trust Cathy, her behaviour improves. Over time, with childish honesty, she reveals details of her abuse at the hands of her parents and other relatives. It becomes clear that Jodie's parents were involved in a sickening paedophile ring, with neighbours and Social Services ignoring the obvious signs. Unfortunately, Jodie becomes increasingly withdrawn, and it's clear she needs psychiatric therapy.Cathy urges the Social Services to provide funding, but instead, they decide to take Jodie away from her, and place her in a residential unit. Although the paedophile ring is investigated and brought to justice, Jodie's future is still up in the air. Cathy promises that she will stand by her no matter what - her love for the abandoned Jodie is unbreakable.

The best true story book Ive ever read is Bridge across my sorrows by Christina Noble.
Here's a review of the book!
For most of her childhood Christina Noble had lived in poverty with four siblings, a desperate mother and a drunken father. Her only escape from the harshness of life was her love of singing and dancing, and she dreamed of becoming an entertainer. After the sudden death of her mother she became responsible for her brother and sisters' health whilst her father was unable to do anything for them. Before long, the family was separated and each child was sent to a strict industrial school.
When Christina left her school, she lived as a street child in Dublin. Her life was always at risk, and one day she was abducted and raped by four men. She then decided to move to Birmingham to start a new life. She got married but her husband was always violent throughout their marriage. One night she had a dream that changed her life, and she decided to go to Vietnam to help the street children there.
After divorcing her first husband and leaving her second husband, she travelled to Vietnam and after a long struggle to cope with the culture shock, she convinced the people there that the street children were worthy of safety and shelter, and set up a hospital and school for them.
I think the woman should be sainted  She has her own foundation which works with the street children to give them safety and shelter.
That sounds really good, might have to get that. I think I saw it in Tesco this afternoon. Great place to buy paperback chart books cheeply (£3.73 for most)
Probably one of my favourite books is Jack Osbourne's autobiography, 21 Years Gone. He had so many problems, drug (illegal and prescription) and alcohol addictions, bullying, misfit because of his family's status and being severly dyslexic. He managed to turn his life around and make something of himself. After trying to kill himself he realised he needed help. If you've ever been in that place where it's impossible to see the light at the end of the tunnel this book shows that whatever you're going through you can beat it and come out the other side. It made me cry in a lot of places but it also made me laugh towards the end.

i have started reading marley and me and the road of the dead and they are both quite good books but i cant seem to get into reading at the mo
is that the book about the dog (marley and me)? if so ive got that, havent read it yet though. atm im reading stage management books lol!
Just finished reading Dont Tell Mummy by Toni Maguire..
Toni tells the story about her terrible childhood and becoming pregnant at the age of 14 by her father...
very hard book to put down you just want to keep reading...
I've read that, and I'm now reading Twilight Children by the same authour, its also a sad but good read

I have read Marley and Me and really enjoyed it.The book i am now reading is Becoming Anna by Anna J Michener. It is an autobiography of the first 16 years of her life about the abuse she suffered from her family and the various mental intitutions she was put in by her family. I have not finnished it yet but so far it is really good and quite painful to read.

Do you find Jodi Picoult waffles about nothing in particular? I read The Tenth Circle and every few pages she was talking about Eskimos and Alaska. I found it really boring and irrelevent to the story.
I'm reading Buried by Mark Billingham. It's an OK book, slightly boring. The pace has only just begun to pick up and I'm 350 pages in.
After that, it's back to the old Harry Potter. From start to finish

I'm reading the Woman in Black. Its suuuch a great book. I'm only half way through it, and its already good. And seeing as i'm being forced to read it for my A Level english, it makes a change to actually enjoy it. Because normally they're very boring books.

i'm reading Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha by Roddy Doyle (it's old) we read it at school in like year 8, but i understand it much better now. I did'nt get some of the jokes back then.
Hi the book i'm reading at the moment is Friends for Life,by Jan Fennell. I like to read Marian Keyes books and Danelle Steel. Im going to start reading the house by Danillle Stelle next.
Im reading a book called Ugly at the moment. This is the blurb :
Constance's mother systematically abused her daughter, both physically and emotionally, throughout her childhood. Regularly beaten and starved, the girl was so desperate she took herself off to Social Services and tried to get taken into care. When that failed, she swallowed bleach 'because it kills all known germs and my mother always told me I was a germ'. When Constance was thirteen, her mother simply moved out, leaving her daughter to fend for herself: there was no gas, no electricity and no food. But somehow Constance found the courage to survive her terrible start in life. This is her heartrending - and ultimately triumphant - story.

havent written in here in a while, finished "keeping faith", it got better as it went on but i dont think i liked it as much as her other books cos theres a lot of religious stuff in there and its mainly about whether this little girl is having conversations with god, and cos im not religious to me it seemed unrealistic
finished 2 other books as well, read "the tenth circle" and "salem falls" both by jodi picoult, and i enjoyed them both. "the tenth circle" was a bit different to her other books as although there was a crime, you found out what had happened through other situations in the book and not through a trial like in her other books. "salem falls" was really good, although i did guess the twist at the end
now im reading "the pact" by jodi picoult lol! ive read about three quarters of it so far and i think its one of her best books. it starts as the crime has been committed and keeps going back in time which i like. though im annoyed cos i already know the ending cos i read it in the back of one of her other books!

Okay I have given in to temptation and decided to read the Harry Potter books. I'm starting at the begining so I can understand the whole triology. I've read the first book in two days, going to start reading The chamber of Secrets tomorrow, my plan is by the time I've finished the first 6 books Marley would have finished with the Deathly Hallows.
I'm reading three books at the moment. I've got a few hundred pages of Deathly Hallows to finish. There is so much more that I have picked up the second time reading it that I missed before. I'm also reading Fear Of The Collar which is a memoir/autobiography about a boy who was sent away to a monastry in Ireland in the 60's and Humble Pie by Gordon Ramsay.

I'm going to read a year in the life of the man who fell asleep. I've read about 10 pages so far and it's really...really odd! :p
Edit: Found it :) http://randomreality.blogware.com/

im now reading "mercy" by jodi picoult
ok i wrote this in the middle of october so thats like 6 months ago and ive not finished it. not cos it was boring but cos i havent had time to read anything apart from a few plays for my course. would start reading it over the hols but i left it in canterbury so ill have to wait til i get back
I'm reading Amy Amy Amy: The Amy Winehouse Story by Nick Johnstone! A very interesting read, gives a lot of background to Amy, including her musical roots and inspirations etc. Anyone who things of her as that "dirty druggy drunk" should read this book, and get their facts straight.
I'm reading Skin Privilege by Karin Slaughter. I've read all but one of her books and they're excellent but I can't seem to get into this one.
The Jigsaw Man - Paul Britton
He is a clinical/forensic psychologist who has helped the police with a number of cases, although quite in depth and detailed in places and quite hard to read (The Jamie Bulger chapter for instance) but it is very interesting how the police and psychologists go about different cases.
Wouldn't recommend unless interested in psychology and stuff, isn't an 'easy' book.

Hidden By Cathy Glass..... How one boy overcame the odds. As soon as Tayo was brought into cathys home for placement, she was puzzled. The social worker had no records for Tayo no school files, family history or medical records. It was as if he didnt exist.

I'm reading "Plea of Insanity" by Jilliane Hoffman at the moment. First book I've read in ages! It's really good so far.
"Julia Valenciano is a young, ambitious prosecutor facing a case that could launch her career. The defendant David Marquette is a successful Miami surgeon and devoted family man. The victims are Marquette's own wife and three small children. The plea is not guilty by reason of insanity. The perfect father and model husband, David Marquette seemingly just snapped. His experienced defence team claims paranoid delusions caused by schizophrenia drove him to slaughter his entire family. But the state suspects Marquette's insanity defence is being fabricated to disguise murders that were cold-blooded and calculated. Worse, Julia believes Marquette could be responsible for a string of unsolved, brutal homicides. The distraught survivor could just be one of the most prolific and elusive serial killers in the country's history. To bring him to justice, Julia must embark on a terrifying personal journey back into her own past - something she has struggled for fifteen years to forget. And this will lead her to confront a future so chilling, she's not sure she will ever be able to face it..."
To Kill a Mockingbird for English Lit lol.. and also Wild Kat, the biography of Jessie Wallace by Emily Herbert.

I read that a couple of years ago. I don't think its all its cracked up to be. I got pretty bored with it.
Getting into Skin Privilege now, some interesting twists have occurred.

I'm currently reading Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult. It's really good! I haven't guessed what's going to happen at the end yet I have no clue :p
My Sisters Keeper by Jodi is being made into a film! :D I hope it stays true to the book. I found PS I love you was a bit rubbish.
Imdb page for anyone, the cast list looks really good! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1078588/

I cant wait for this to come out as a film, but the ending is supposedly going to be different to what it is in the book, and originally elle and dakota fanning were meant to be playing the sisters, i think they would have been good in it

Yeah they would! I can't believe the ending might be changing. What's the point in that? :( I know it's sad and everything but come on not everything can have a happy Hollywood ending!

i cant wait for this film either, i was so excited when i read in the paper a few months ago that it was being made into a film, i hope its not disappointing! i cant believe theyre going to change the ending, i hope thats not true, it wont be the same if the endings different! also im glad the fanning sisters arent in it, i cant stand dakota fanning and i think elle would be too young to play anna. and apparently dakota didnt want the role cos she didnt wanna shave her head! anyway i cant wait, it was my favourite jodi picoult book :D
Im still reading P.S I love you, cos I just never have time to read it

You should take it with you when you are out and about and if your on the bus or train or waiting for someone you can read it.
Somebody on here recommended "Book Thief", can't remember the author, I tried to read it but found it too upsetting (daft, I know, it is a book but I get involved :o ). My next book I will attempt to read is "PS I love you". :)
