View Full Version : Welcome to the World!!
is connor only off for one week then? my eldest is off for two weeks!
yeah he only got the week off. he dying to get back so a week is enough. how come yours have 2??
he goes back on wed debs, dunno why they have a bit longer then others...teacher training day i assume.but roll on wed,i love him to bits but when you arent getting much sleep, are in pain etc he doesnt help by constantly winding my other boy up all the time.he is like having a teenager and is driving me slightly up the wall at the moment bless his cottons...too top it off my other half hasnt been well either so its been like having four kids to deal with all demanding my one on one attention, other half has gastrioantitus (sp def wrong lol) and its contagious so things arent looking too great as im a sure thing to catch it i bet seeing as my iron etc is low anyway.

I was lucky - my eldest was 1hr 15 mins labour and my youngest was 1hr 30 (was born 10mins after I arrived at hospital) both pregnancies went really smoothly - I enjoyed morning sickness lol. It was only towards the end of my second pregnancy that my ligaments etc started hurting and I've been unlucky enough to have the same problem but a lot earlier. I would keep having them if my hubby would let me!!!! I completely forgot about any labour pains etc as soon as I held both my 2 and am strangely looking forward to labour again this time. I'm just getting panicky as all of the kicks seem to be very low down so I hope this one hasn't decided to be awkward and turned round - will find out next week though....
Did you find out if the baby is the right way round
Did you find out if the baby is the right way roundFind out this Weds Tig's, but it feels so big right now, I think its ok and more that I can feel he/she's every move!! It would be nice to be able to get some kip really though - I am up at least 6 times a night now and at least one of those times is for more gaviscon as my heartburn is playing me havoc - never had it before and definitely wish I didn't have it now!!
Will let you know for def on Weds, but I think all is ok especially as my ribs are hurting again lol :)

you sound like you are having a hard time of it em's.you wishing he/she was out now? i know i did the last few weeks but then now im wishing she might like to go back in for a few weeks so i can catch up on sleep lol
you sound like you are having a hard time of it em's.you wishing he/she was out now? i know i did the last few weeks but then now im wishing she might like to go back in for a few weeks so i can catch up on sleep lolIts soooo different this time round to last time chance - the boys were easy, sailed through it, but this time round - if its not my ligaments around my stomach causing me problems at night, its my back, and then its my pelvis - when I want to turn over, I can't roll, I have to wake up, sit up in bed, wait for everything to crunch and then lie back down again, then i have to get up 6 times a night for the bathroom and then have to go downstairs for some gaviscon lol!!
Hubby panicking everytime i move, thinking somethings wrong - he isn't sleeping well cause i am snoring when i do get to sleep :rotfl: I think this one is preparing us for when he/she is out and is going to be an awkward so and so :rotfl:
How are you and Shannon doing?? Are the boys ok??
yeah we are all ok thanks
sounds like you are having a hard time but not long to go now and then you will have a gorge baby in your arms.dying to know of its a girly, sounds like it if it is totally different this time cus it was with me,the whole pregnancy was different to how i was with my lil men.how are you today? sleep well?
Terribly - ended up on a mattress on the floor in the baby's unfinished room coz of someone moaning about my snoring!! Did my hips etc the world of good NOT!!!!
So knackered, emotional etc, but the countdown is nearly on!!!! Can't wait lol. I do have a feeling its a girl, but am dying to find out....
Went to midwife appointment yesterday, baby is right way round, but I have to go for a scan in 2 weeks as she is concerned that I am carrying a large baby - where my fundus height should be 34 (same as my number of weeks) it is currently 40!!! So off to hospital I will have to go in 2 weeks time - then I will find out if he/she is big or not, and if he/she is, what the consultant will decide what to do. Am really nervous as it also means that I might not be able to have this baby at the community hospital where I wanted it, and I might have to have it at the consultant unit instead, which is horrible and clinical!
At least on the plus side, I might well be able to find out if I am having a boy or a girl at the scan and it also may mean that I get to meet him/her earlier than my due date.
Has anyone else gone through this at all? This was my biggest fear when I gave up smoking - that I would have a large baby, as my other 2 were 6lb 13 and 7lb 11 and I (very badly) smoked during pregnancy and as smoking causes low birth weight, it certainly started me worrying about the size of the baby I would have if I stopped, and now this seems to be happening.
My midwife also thinks this is why I am having so many hip and pelvis problems, so any advice would be great - also, what do they do if you are having a large baby, does anyone know??
Sorry Em, I have no idea.. like you I smoked during my pregnancies and they were both small-ish... My niece had a big baby and they had to section her as she was such a little person.. she is only 5ft and her baby was 8lb 14oz
Thanks Siobhan - I am 5ft 4 so what used to be average height (not anymore though lol) - it also makes me worry about whether my dates are right or not too though, but will have to wait and see - just as long as everything is ok with the baby, thats the main thing....
Yeah that is the main thing.. Are you really going ask the sex of the baby when you get your scan???
:hmm: I think I will, coz I am so maternally sure its gonna be a girl, that in some ways I would be prepared, if it is a boy. Though by the way this one has been behaving I would imagine that he/she will cover him/herself up again and not let us have a look lol
ha ha.. I could just imagine it.. I got a second scan done on my first child with 5 weeks to go and i could see anything.. mind you I didn't ask either and to be honest, i can't really make scans out
I can just picture him/her now, laughing at me whilst they are doing the scan, making sure that he/she covers his/herself up - I will only ask the sonographer if they seem ok though as this scan is about the size of the baby etc, and making sure everything is ok, rather than a routine one, so will have to see how it goes. I knew I was big anyway though, as I am only one inch smaller on my waistline now, than what I was two days before I had Ci, so this doesn't really surprise me if I think about it properly...
I was smaller on Ben than Charley (2 stone lighter) but Ben was 1lb heavier
maybe if he she is big then they will induce you two or threeeweeks early so your still able to push he she out?
Hopefull the baby won't be too big... A friend of mine, his sister-in-law was 5 week premature and baby was already 11lb

Thats the theory apparently, which means this one could arrive in 4 weeks!!! I still have too much to yet lol

I am sure you will be ok
I am sure you will be okWell, we still have to decorate the baby's room (which I will be sleeping in for the first few weeks), I have to buy my eldests birthday pressies as his birthday is in 4 weeks time as well as the Christmas pressies - uh oh!!! lol

That is scarily big!!
I know.. imagine how big the baby would have been had she gone full term.. apparently they gain most of their weight in the last 5 weeks

will you be buying gifts for your other children from the baby? they say you should do that so the others won't be jealous of new arrival..
will you be buying gifts for your other children from the baby? they say you should do that so the others won't be jealous of new arrival..I will definitely for Ci as he's only 3, but with Ste being 12, he understands more, though he will get a birthday pressie from the baby for sure. I just hope Ci is ok with the baby, as much as he kisses my bump etc, he is very jealous of Ste, so I dread to think what he might be like with this one. I'm going to involve him in as much as possible though and according to Ci, when the baby is born, he is going to play with it, bath it, and its going to sleep in his bed with him (bless!!)
Ah that is so sweet but still be prepared for the tantums and jealousy.. Does he want a boy or a girl? Charley use to read and sing to my bump but she wanted a girl.. when I had ben, she wasn't so sweet
He's quite confused about the whole girl/boy thing lol He keeps saying that I am a boy and he is a girl and then I'll say that he is a boy, he starts laughing - I think he is playing me really (which he does to one of his preschool carers) but he says he would prefer a sister, which is the same as Ste. We are going to take him with us to the scan like we have previous ones though, as I think its better to involve him from the start and whilst the consultant might not like it, Ci (and Ste) is part of this baby's life as much as we are - so if we do find out we will be able to discuss it with him. Ste won't be coming though as he is at high school now
I took Charley to all my appointment, lack of childminders, but she loved them.. she played appoint at home. I had to say "next please" and she would give me a magazine as her chart and I had to use the remote as an ultrasound...
awww, that is so sweet - how old is Charley??
awww, that is so sweet - how old is Charley??
she just turned 4 in september... she started big school and loves it. she has changed so much since starting, goes to bed early and in not as demanding as she use to be
It does get to the point when they need more stimulation that you can give them - I know Stephen was the same - he was soooo ready for school and he was even more ready for High School when he started in September.
Did you find there was a lot of jealousy from Charley towards Ben?? Because there is an eight and a half year age gap between Ste and Ci there wasn't too much of a problem, but with there only being 3 1/2 yrs between Ci and this one, its more of a concern for me this time round.
Oh yeah, tonnes of jealousy... she hated him for the first 3 weeks and even now she would prefer a girl
oh crumbs - this is what worries me with Ci because he already gets jealous of Ste.
The only thing I can say is if I have held a baby in front of him, he has stayed back a bit and then as soon as I have given the baby back, he has come in for a cuddle - I hope he reacts the same to this one. We are trying to reassure him a lot and also warn him that the baby will cry a lot so hopefully that will help
I think Ci will have a few jealousy problems at the start as he is your baby for now... I am sure he will come around.. My mum was telling me that my older brother use to hit my sister, who is only 1 year younger, when she was born.. he use to hit her with toys and anything he could get his hands on..she once caught him trying to hit her with a potatoe masher so she had to carry my sister everywhere
 Oh crikey.
I think as long as I involve him in loads and try not to let him feel pushed out by the baby, he might be ok - lots of hugs and us time will be in order I think..
yeah.. I kinda felt bad when ben was born cause it was always just me and Charley and then i had to tell her Ben needed my time.. but now we have loads of fun as ben is settling more..
I felt the same with Ste - especially as he had 8 yrs of being an only child and then Ci arrived. Even now, I don't get chance to spend as much time with Ste on his own that I would like to, but we have started (or at least did start) to go to the cinema on our own, just me and Ste to have a bit of quality time together. Shame its going to all end soon until next year
And people ask if you have a favourite because you spend more time with one than the other but the reality is that some kids need more attention and time than the others and there is nothing that can be done..
Yep - we get that quite a lot too - though because Ste is that much older, he tends to go out with his mates etc and even we forget how young he really is. And I think, like you say, some people think that one is favoured more than the other. Which makes it really unfair and makes me feel a bit guilty sometimes even though I know it isn't the case
had to take shannon to hospital yesterday.she was sleeping loads and not waking for feeds and wasnt interested in feeds at all and had very watery diaorrea (sp?)
shes got gastrientiitus,poor mite!

i thought my youngest son was going to be like that with shannon, was quite worried but he has been totally the oppisite and really surprised me,all he does is kiss her on her head when he sees her and says 'awwwwwwwwww baby'.

if only it could be like that !!!!
started my xmas shopping on con and have nearly finished which is brillaint in one way but not in another so i know that ill keep seeing things that ill wanna get him and hell end up with so much stuff!!
just two more thing onhis father christams list and im done! yay!
costs a fortune though but he is worth it!
I've done little bits of the boys, but stuck on Ste cause of it being his birthday soon aswell - and you know when they write a list of things they want, and you look at it and think, you are joking, i am not getting that - well thats whats mostly on Ste's list lol.
Having to do it all online, is a great money saver but soooo difficult, as you can't look at stuff first before buying it which is harder, but I think I am getting there. Got all of hubbys pressies though and our anniversary pressie too (6yrs next week  ) so slowly getting there :D
The in car dvd really works though Chance - we've got one in our car and keeps them quiet for ages, the only problem you find is them arguing about what they want to watch lol !!!

I am just hoping they decide to bring me on a bit early - if they say i need to have this one at the consultant unit, i will tell them they will have to induce me then, coz I am not risking having this one in the car, which would have happened with Ci if I hadn't gone to the community hospital. It took 17 mins from the time I left the house, till Ci arriving and we left as soon as my contractions started. It takes 25 mins to get to the consultant unit!!! That really scares me!!
