EastEnders' Lauren Branning could be heading for fresh heartbreak as she gets romantically involved with Dean Wicks later this month.

Following a few days of flirting with the Walford hairdresser, Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) is pleased when he finally responds to her interest by inviting her over to his place.

Although Lauren had planned to take things slowly, the pair end up spending the night together - leaving her hopeful that the fling could become something serious.

The next morning, Dean (Matt Di Angelo) quickly sets Lauren straight by insisting that their relationship is strictly casual.

Dean quickly changes his mind when he spots how hurt Lauren is by his remarks, but it's clear that he is only trying to make Linda Carter jealous by taking his attentions elsewhere. How long will it take for Lauren to realise that Dean isn't really interested in her?

Monday

Denise tells Ian that Patrick is making good progress, but Ian is concerned by this as he still fears that Patrick will reveal his secret. Soon afterwards, Denise and Ian go to visit Patrick at the hospital. Oblivious to the tense atmosphere between both men, Denise leaves Patrick and Ian together while she goes to speak to a doctor.

Denise is told that Patrick is now well enough to return home, but Ian tries to stay one step ahead by desperately hatching a plan. He tells Denise that he has spoken to Kim and Anthony, who both think that Patrick would be better off in a care home.

Meanwhile, Whitney and Lauren confide in each other about their new relationships. Whitney explains that she hopes to take things slowly with Lee, while Lauren admits that she wanted to do the same with Dean but they have already slept together. Whitney is later given food for thought and changes her mind following some advice from Carol.

As the day continues, Dean upsets Lauren when he insists that their relationship is strictly casual, but he changes his mind when he sees her hurt reaction. Dean then goes to The Vic to make Linda aware of his and Lauren's relationship.

Elsewhere, Jay promises Abi that he will move with her when she goes to university. Later, Max arranges a family meal to celebrate Abi's success, but he is annoyed when Dot brings Charlie along. Other factors also mean that the family gathering soon takes another turn for the worse. After offending Dot and Charlie, Max tells Jay that he can't go with Abi. With everyone frustrated by Max's attitude, the guests all leave the meal.

Tuesday

Max starts to feel guilty over his behaviour. He visits Dot to apologise but leaves when he realises that Charlie is there. Soon afterwards, Charlie overhears a revealing conversation between Max and Emma which leaves him intrigued.

Later, Max also apologises to Abi for his actions and joins her at Dot's house. When Max gets a moment alone with Charlie, he makes it clear that he doesn't like the way Charlie is pushing his way into the family. Charlie manages to play Max at his own game and gain the upper hand, but that doesn't last for long when Emma tells Max that Charlie isn't a policeman…

Meanwhile, Denise refuses to put Patrick in a care home and threatens to move in with him if Ian won't let him live at the Beale house. However, when Denise visits Patrick again, she realises how hard it would be to care for him alone. After speaking to Dot, a cautious Denise agrees to put Patrick in the best care home possible.

Elsewhere, Lola's relationship with Peter remains strained as he continues to be dismissive of her. Lola also argues with Jay when he reveals his plans to move with Abi.

Also today, Bianca gives Whitney and Lee her blessing. However, Whitney continues to have second thoughts over the romance and sabotages their date at the last minute by offering to babysit Lily.

Thursday
Emma goes to arrest Charlie for impersonating a policeman. It soon becomes apparent that Charlie isn't all he seems.

Later, Yvonne becomes worried that Charlie's closeness with Dot will bring Nick back into their lives, so Charlie promises to stop seeing Dot. However, when Charlie's car is vandalised and it's clear that Nick is responsible, they realise that it's already too late…

Meanwhile, Ian arranges appointments for him and Denise to view some care homes for Patrick, but Denise remains apprehensive. Later, Denise apologises to Shabnam for being distracted at work this week. She admits how guilty she is feeling over Patrick's care, but Shabnam helps her to become more comfortable with her decision.

Elsewhere, Whitney fears that Lee is using her, but he manages to reassure her and they end up sleeping together.

Also today, Peter invites Lola out to lunch, but it's clear this is no romantic gesture as he is using the opportunity to spy on Lauren's date with Dean. Lauren and Dean's date soon goes wrong when he turns Lola down for a job at Blades, causing Lauren to walk out and leaving Dean humiliated.

Friday

Spooked by recent events, Yvonne tells Charlie that they need to run away to Ireland immediately. When Charlie receives a message from Nick, it confirms Yvonne's fears and makes her even more determined to leave. Charlie doesn't want to go after bonding so much with Dot, but Yvonne manages to change his mind.

Wanting to make sure that Charlie goes through with it, Yvonne accompanies him to the Square and tells Dot that Charlie has been transferred to Ireland and has to leave straight away. Charlie and a devastated Dot then say a tough goodbye to each other.

Meanwhile, Denise isn't impressed by any of the care homes she visits with Ian. When they both go to see Patrick again, Ian's guilt overwhelms him and he finally tells Patrick that he can live with them. Denise is thrilled with Ian's change of heart.

Elsewhere, Lee is on cloud nine over his relationship with Whitney, but he starts to panic when she is late for their latest date.

Also today, Dean reconsiders his attitude towards Lola when Lauren gives him a hard time. Later, Lauren provides Peter with an opportunity to come clean about his feelings for her, but he lies and blames his recent behaviour on the stress of the recent press appeal. Soon afterwards, Lauren hears that Dean has finally agreed to hire Lola. She goes to see him at Blades and he invites her out for the evening, but will Lauren agree to go?
